Chapter Forty-Six

I floated to the ground and glanced up at George, who was merely a statue. I was proud of myself. Not only did I defeated him, but I got to impress my writer. I love to show off what I can do to her because I like to prove how great I really am.

Hold on. You thought that Tim was narrating. Not anymore. I, Ava Campbell, will be taking over. Well, in this chapter.

I surveyed the room. The people were getting together, hugging each other and chatting about the recent events. I saw Tim and his gang and decided to give him a run for his money.

I strolled up to Tim and tapped his shoulder lightly. "Tim?"

Tim was shocked to see me - and the fact that I saved the day - and spun around. He rubbed the back of his neck and seemed nervous. "Um..."

"Do not be afraid. I will not hurt you. At least, not yet."

"Ava..." he began. "...it took us all by surprise when you showed up. T-thank you."

I will admit that it felt strange to receive a thank you from him. I had not been thanked since...never!

"Do not thank me. I was doing my job as a fictional character."

"But you are a villain," he pointed out.

"Yes, however, I am loyal to my writer. Unlike some fictional villains..." I rocked back and forth on my feet. "By the way, Jenny likes you."

"Huh? Say what?"

"Ava," Ash said my name as she embraced me in a hug. "Thank goodness. Who knows what would have happened if you did not step in?"

I could not help but smile and hugged her back. I was looking over her shoulder - and spotted Cindy, Cal - my son! - and Caleb.

Caleb.

He was in a corner and curled into a ball as his girlfriend Cindy was talking to him. She was trying to convince Caleb that he would make an excellent father - yeah, right - but Caleb was having none of it.

That was my plan all along.

You see, I was going to give Cal to Caleb and allow him to have custody sooner or later. Why? 'Cause it would only mean that Caleb, my ex-assistant, would suffer more. That would be priceless!

To be honest - if I am ever honest - I never cared about Cal. In fact, I hated raising him. He is annoying and stupid and gets under my skin real good.

I pulled away from Ash and informed her that I needed to go.

"Where?" she asked.

"An errand. My last one for the day."

I did not stick around for any goodbyes. I exited out of the hole that George had caused and dashed down the sidewalk.

Where was I going, you may ask? Guess. If you guessed Katrina's apartment, congratulations! You are already becoming the Forlot expert.

I soon arrived to her apartment and hurried to her apartment room. When I made it, I burst in.

"Katrina."

"I hate you. I hate you!"

"Huh? Oh. Lean must be here."

I closed the door behind me and immediately realized that Lean and Katrina were fighting. Actually, Katrina wanted to start a fight with her. Lean kept repeating that she was here for no trouble.

"Listen to what I have to say!" Lean stated. She noticed me - figures - and frowned. "Ava."

I played with a strand of my hair. "Lean."

Katrina then saw me. "Ava? What are you doing here?"

"Well, what is she doing here?" I motioned to the ghost girl.

"I do not know. To cause more trouble, I guess."

Lean shook her ghostly head slowly. "I told you. I am here to talk."

Katrina looked back at her. "What could we possibly have to chat about? How you murdered our Lubriem?"

"How about the sense that I keep getting that Mary Sue escaped from the mental asylum?"

I let out a whoosh of air. She could not be serious. "Mary Sue has not escaped from that place. Why, escaping that asylum is impossible. Except for me."

The ghost ran a ghostly hand through her ghostly hair. "She has not escaped...yet. But she will."
