Chapter Thirty-Six
I glanced at our writer, and then back at him. I went back and forth like that for about a minute before I became dizzy. I desperately needed an explanation, and as if he could read my thoughts, Xefente provided me one.
Xefente got up from his chair and walked over to our writer. He wrapped an arm around her shoulders and confessed the whole story. For a year after Ash J. thought of him, Xefente was working close with her and the mayor of Forlot. His journey began when he became curious of the real worlders. His writer had a habit of talking about them whenever she was alone. He decided to visit the real world and do some investigating with the real worlders.
Xefente did not have permission from Ash J. or the Forlot mayor to go to the real world. In fact, it was illegal for Forlot characters to step on real world territory without consent from one of the Forlot leaders. Xefente did not care about the rules and went on his merry way. He was in the real world with his suitcase in hand and took in the sceneries. He thought that his research would be a cinch, however, real world life has its way of making you pay regardless if you are a good person.
The fresh air was not actually fresh. It was polluted and smelled like gas and rotten garbage. He also could not view the sky because it was covered by dirty clouds of smoke. As if that was not bad enough, there was trash scattered all over the sidewalks and grass. There were trash cans, but they were all empty.
Xefente was furious at the lack of order, and rightfully so. The real worlders were taking advantage of the planet and could care less about the environment. He wanted to do something. He needed to do something. But what? And how?
Later that day, Xefente was in a coffee shop to try what the real worlders call coffee. He ended up disliking it. Anyway, he was sitting alone at a small table with his coffee when he stumbled across information in the newspaper. He moved the newspaper close to his face and read it to himself.
"'Do you have what it takes to be the President of the United States? Sign up now!'"
It hit him like a lightning bolt. He knew exactly how he could help the real worlders. It would be a long shot, but he had to make the attempt. Long story short, he won the election by a landslide and became the next President of the United States.
"I have been helping the real worlders ever since," Xefente finished. "Crime rates have gone down."
"That...is miraculous!" I complimented. "I am glad that you are the president. I really am."
"Thank you. The first thing that I did when I found out that I won was went straight to Ash to tell her the thrilling news. She was skeptical at first, but I was able to convince her that I could do it."
"The real worlders are in good hands," Ash said. "For now."
"My plan is to keep making the planet and its people great and run for a second term," Xefente continued. "Regardless whether I get elected for a second term, I will be returning to Forlot."
"It is good that you have planned ahead," Sophia stated. "Cassandra and I wish you the best of luck."
I was so intrigued by the president and his backstory that I completely forgot about Mary Sue. She moved her feet to my stomach and kicked me hard. I cried out and flew in the air and landed on the carpeted floor. Pain shot in my shoulder, and I hissed and held it.
Sophia hurried to my side and helped me to my feet. "You okay, Cassandra?"
"My shoulder," I said weakly. "I think that Mary Sue broke it."
Mary Sue climbed back on her feet and shoved her gun in the back of her pants. She balled her hands into fists and eyed each and every real worlder.
"You deserve to suffer," she said. "All of you."
"Mary Sue," Xefente said. "You need to go with Cassandra and return to the mental asylum. We only want to help you."
"Help me? I do not care about me. The only thing that I care about is our writer. I just want her to be happy."
"She is certainly not happy with what you have been doing for years and years," I stated. "Have you disregarded what she said to you?"

Ash put a hand on the weapon and pushed it down. "Mary Sue, you cannot go around and call people whom you hate idiots and imbeciles. It is not right. Just like you and me, the real worlders are God's children."
"Real worlders are not God's children. If they were, I would not be trying so hard to make their species go extinct. Real worlders are boring and evil."
"Not all of them are boring and evil."
"Oh, my bad. All real worlders are boring and evil. They all deserve to go extinct."
"God will not let you do that. I will not let you do that."

"I am not naive, Cassandra. Of course, I remember that. However, I know something that you do not. Ash only defended the real worlders because she had to."
"She did it because it was the right thing."
"If I were you, Cassandra, I would ask Ash how she feels about the real worlders."
"I already had this conversation with Libby. I know that Ash would want the best for the real worlders."
"'The best for the real worlders'?" Mary Sue repeated. "Our writer must have not told you."
"Told me what?"
"She was in on the Lubriem's death. Fake death. They and Lean Share were sick of living with the real worlders. So they planned on leaving the real worlders."
