Chapter Forty-One
I can hear you readers now. My sister was not certified to be a Monster Protector. She was not interested in monsters like me and did not have the spirit that a real Monster Protector would have, according to Mr. Hawk. No, I am not off my meds. Wait a minute. I do not take meds for my brain!
I understood what Lean was getting at. I could not defeat the Monster Protectors alone. I needed help. Lots of help. And whoever wanted to assist had to be a Monster Protector. I was the only good Monster Protector at the time, but what if there were more? What if I trained them?
Scarlett took a step back and held up her hands. She waved them left and right like that Lean Share did in the other chapter and asked me to repeat myself. I smiled to give her reassurance that I was not going crazy and encouraged her that she would be an excellent Monster Protector.
"I know that you have the capability of being a Monster Protector," I stated. "You are my sister. If you allow me to train you, we can—"
"I am going to stop you right there," Scarlett interrupted. "You were chosen to be the Monster Protector. Not me. Not the other main characters. The universe chose Margie Morgan."
"Now the universe is choosing you and my friends to become Monster Protectors like me. The only way that the evil Monster Protectors will be stopped is if good Monster Protectors stand in their way." I pointed at myself. "I am just one."
"And you will be able to handle them. If the universe did not believe that you could deal with something like this, you would not be the Monster Protector."
"You are only saying that because you do not believe that you can rise to my level."
"I do not desire to accomplish what you have achieved. It is your duty to serve this town with love and justice. It is my duty to support you and help you whenever you need it."
I smacked my palms together. "Aha!" I pointed a finger at her. "You just said that your job is to assist when I need it the most."
"Well, I did not say those exact words. But what is your point?"
I took a step towards her. "I need your help and anyone else who steps up to the plate. Please. Help me help you become the Monster Protector that you will not regret."
She put up her hand to signal me to stop. "Hold it. Hold on. You want me to replace you? The last thing that I want to accidentally do is to overshadow you."
"You will not be overshadowing me. None of the characters who volunteer will. I will be the leader, and you all will follow my commands."
"So you will be a dictator," she teased.
"The only dictator whom we have to fight against is McKinley McCall."
Scarlett brought up that Margaret was on her phone with Jorgie before she came out here to see me, and when she mentioned Jorgie's name, I gasped like that it was the end of the world. I got the perfect idea on how I was going to spread my offer to the other characters.
I grabbed Scarlett's wrist and dragged her into the hospital and to the waiting room. Mom and Dad saw us and were asking me question after question, however, I ignored them and hurried to my cousin. Thank gosh that she was still on the phone with Jorgie.
"So that is the story," Margaret said. "The main thing is that Margie was tricked by those so-called 'Monster Protectors.' Of course, I feel bad. She is my cousin after all." She noticed me. "Margie?"
"Margaret, may I please borrow your phone again? I need to speak to Jorgie."
"Hang on, Jorgie." Margaret put a hand over the phone so that Jorgie could not hear. "Like I told you earlier, I have no problem with you using my phone. I just want to know why you have the need to talk with my boss."
"She is your friend, not your boss. And I want to get her permission if she could set up something."
"What do you want her to set up? I can tell her for you. It is no trouble at all."
"A conference. I want all the good characters who have been introduced in this series so far to attend the conference. It should be held at the castle."
"And I suppose that you will be the host of this conference."
"You got that right. And tell Jorgie that she will not regret it."
You fellow readers would be surprised at what being friends with a princess can do. Jorgie trusted me enough to consider my idea and had a meeting with the other princesses if it could go through. The princesses agreed, and my sister and I were escorted to the castle. Scarlett and I greeted Jorgie and Jorga, and I confessed to the three of them about what I was planning to do.
"I have to say that I am with you on this one, Margie," Jorgie agreed. "After my adventure with Fear and the other emotions, I completely understand why you need people who are like you."
"I do not need people who are like me. I need ones who are willing to stand up for Forlot and what is right," I corrected her. "There are too many evil Monster Protectors, and I will surely die if I stand in the way."
Characters from book one to twenty-three piled into the castle and to the room where the conference was being held. The room was big enough for everybody, and when everyone was accounted for, Amanda strolled up to the podium and spoke into the microphone.
"I do not know exactly why we have been gathered here, but here we are."
