Chapter Nineteen

I expected the emotions and Margie and Scarlett to protest my decision. And they did. Panics and demands filled the air, and Covid-19 and I ordered them to shut up at the same time.

"Shut the heck up!" The virus and I glared at each other with our eyebrows narrowed.

"Huh," Covid-19 said. "Maybe you and I are more alike than we think."

"Are you listening to yourself?" Charity questioned him. She pointed at me. "Do you know who this is? This is the famous Jorgie Special."

"I am aware, you idiot emotion. Fear told us everything that we needed to know about the town of Forlot, including the people who live here."

"Before you viruses take me to Fear or wherever..." I piped up. "...do you mind answering as to why you and the evil emotions came to Forlot?"

Flu and Stupidity handed Margie and Scarlett back to Covid-19, and Stupidity said, "What makes you think that we are infecting you instead of your friends? What makes you assume that we plan on bringing you to Fear? We have not agreed to your terms."

"I would decline her deal and allow her to watch us infect her friends," Flu said to Covid-19. "They deserve to feel our wrath. Besides, infecting Jorgie Special will not be as much fun because her Tenomeya already has me and you within her."

"What about me?" Stupidity asked.

"Jorgie is too sweet and smart for you."

Stupidity glanced at me, and then back at the other viruses. "I changed my mind. I say that we trade the girls for Jorgie and teach her a lesson or two."

"Hey! Stupid!" Margie joined in on the long conversation. "If any of you harm Jorgie, I swear that I will kick you where the sun does not shine!"

"You cannot kick me where the sun does not shine. I do not have one."

"You will surely have one when I am through with ya!"

I could not help but giggle. "If you viruses trade them for me, Margie will not annoy you anymore."

"Are you annoying?" Flu demanded to know.

I was about to reply, however, Hope and Faith beat me to it. They made up false - yet believable - claims how I was the most annoying person in the world. I became embarrassed and facepalmed. The rest of my group knew that I do not do any of the following: wear diapers, let my pants sag, talk about my Tenomeya every second of every day, and anything else that you readers can come up with.

Unfortunately for Faith and Hope, the viruses were not buying it. They knew all too well that I was too kind and respectful to do nasty things like those.

"What do you think that we are?" Covid-19 said. "Stupid?"

"I resent that remark," Stupidity defended himself.

"Actually, yes," Charity challenged. "Especially you, Covid-19. I pray that you get what is coming to you."

He gave her a glare that could kill. "If you were not an emotion, I would infect you and murder you just like that!" He snapped his fingers.

"That is enough," I stated calmly and as loud as I could. "I am giving you viruses the chance to have me and do whatever you wish to do to me."

Covid-19 looked at Flu and Stupidity, and then back at me. "We have a deal." He let go of the rope, and Margie and Scarlett fell and landed on the ground.

"Just what do you think that you are doing?" Flu asked him.

"Do not question me. I am the commander. I know exactly what I am doing."

He floated to me and was about to grab me, but Common Sense blocked his path by floating in front of me. I whispered to him what he was going to do and to move out of the way, but he ignored me and asked Covid-19 for a minute with me. Covid-19 surprisingly allowed it, and Common Sense pulled me away from the others.

"If your plan is to talk me out of it, Common Sense, then forget it."

"No, Jorgie. I trust you. I may not know where this may lead, but I trust you." He put his hands on my shoulders. "Just promise me one thing."

"Anything. Well, almost anything."

"Keep your eyes peeled for Humor. I mean, Calvin. Honestly, I am worried about him."

"Me too. I really miss him."

We ended our private conversation with a hug before Stupidity and Flu grabbed ahold of my arms, lifted me off the ground, and practically kidnapped me.

The viruses and I arrived at a jailhouse that was recently built by Fear and his Fearlings, and Flu and Stupidly set me down. Covid-19 pulled out a pair of handcuffs from...somewhere...and commanded me to hold out my hands. I did without any hesitation, and he handcuffed me and ordered the other two viruses to return to Fear. Then he forced me inside the jailhouse.

The place was not completely empty, for there was one inmate. It was a boy who was sitting on the hard floor and had a chain around his ankle that was chained to the wall. Covid-19 and I stopped by the cell where the poor boy was and said that the unknown boy would be my roommate until Fear was ready to see the both of us. Then he threw me in there and left.

I bumped into the boy and dropped to the cold floor. I shivered and felt something being placed on my shoulders. It was a black jacket. I shifted my head to the boy and gasped as soon as I recognized him.

"Calvin!"

Calvin chuckled. "My heart was telling me that you were coming."

I threw my arms around him and cried tears of joy. "Oh my gosh. I was worried that Fear did something to you."

"He did, Jorgie."
