Chapter Twenty

PAIGE'S P.O.V.

Bailey and I share a deep love for books. Bet that you readers cannot guess which book is our favorite. If you answered the Bible, then congratulations! You are smarter than your friends perceive.

For those of you who do not believe or mock us, the Bible is a true story. See how I did not say based on a true story? You cannot change our minds no matter how hard you try. The events unfolded in the Bible actually happened on this planet millions of years ago. That alone amazes me.

The other reason why Bailey and I were going to the bookstore was because our fairy friends encouraged it. Apparently, there is a book about the prophecy of the Prayer Warriors. We would have questioned this if we were not true Christians. The Lord knew from the beginning of time that we would become Prayer Warriors. It was by accident, but still.

While we searched for a lonely table, the fairies flew around and checked shelf after shelf. Well, Orange and Blue were in the air. Purple was on the floor and hugging his stuffed bear. His wings were drooping, and I could have sworn that I heard him whimper. Bailey and I felt sorry for him. Poor dear. He must be afraid. But of what?

I slowly got on my knees and gave him a smile for reassurance. "Purple?"

Purple squeaked and jumped. If he were wearing socks, he would have jumped out of them. "Oh my gosh." He looked up at me, keeping his teddy close to his chest. "P-Paige. You scared me. Please do not do that ever again."

"Sorry. It was not my intention." I scooped him up and stroked his fur.

Did the writer mention that these fairies have fur? Of course not. She is known to be lazy sometimes.

The fairy hesitated before asking, "...why?"

"Why what?"

"Why am I...me? Why am I a fairy who has gifts at his fingertips? Why was I created to be one of the three guardians of Heaven? Why..." He sniffed, and tears formed in his eyes. "...am I a scaredy-cat? I am not even a cat!"

Orange returned with Blue following behind her. "We found the book! It is a good thing because this is the only copy in exist..." Her eyes laid on Purple. "...ence."

"Oh, no," Blue said as he set the book on the table. "Purple is in his depression state again."

"'Again'?" I repeated the word. "I do not think that he has depression."

"Do you know what depression means, Paige?"

"As someone who fought depression day by day, I am pretty much an expert in that department."

"No way," Orange said. "You had depression too?"

I nodded. "It was two years ago. It got so bad that I was not feeling anything and wanted to end it all. I was on the roof of my house and prepared to end the suffering, but lo and behold. I got distracted by stars in the sky. Twinkling stars in the shape of a—"

"Cross?" Purple finished.

"Why, yes. Oh, that is right. You guys already know this. God told ya."

"Blue and Orange may know..." He raised a hand. "...but I know by heart because...I was the one who created the star cross."

Bailey and I gasped in unison.

"You created that cross just for me?"

"Yes, and I was more than happy to do it. God gave me the task. Who was I to question it?"

I pressed him against my cheek. "And here you are. Thinking that you are worthless. Thinking that you do not have a purpose. If not for the symbol in the sky, I would not be here with you. I would never have been a Prayer Warrior."

"Not that we do not care for you or your depression, Purple..." Blue started. "...but we need to go through the book before their dads take them away."

The five of us gathered around the book, and Blue opened it and flipped through the pages. He skipped chunks of information and stopped in the middle of the book.

"Ha! Here it is!" Blue announced. "And you said that it would be hard to find."

"I was not talking about the information," Orange argued. "I was referring to the actual place."

"What place?" Bailey asked.

According to the book and the fairies, there was a site hidden somewhere in the mountains and from the townsfolk. It was named the Cave of Prayers. Only real Christians living in Forlot know the exact location. The Cave of Prayers is where prayers from both believers and nonbelievers are stored. Angels - the real deal - visit the cave and collect the prayers before they go to the person or people that they were assigned to.

There was a part of the cave that was so secret that even the angels were forbidden to step in, for they would be punished by God. The Prayer Warriors were the only beings allowed. That is where we came in.

Years ago, a prophecy came down from Heaven. An evil and greedy goblin was coming with his minions to Forlot. It was said that three girls would have the Power of Jesus to overthrow them once and for all. Two of the girls were us. The Prayer Warriors.

"There were supposed to be three Prayer Warriors," Blue explained. "Sadly....the third member....was killed by some ghost."

"Who was she?" I asked. "Do you know?"

"Her real name is unknown. But she does go by the Lubriem."

"'The Lubriem'?" Bailey repeated. "Never heard of her."

"The Lubriem is none of your concern. It is not like that the writer will focus on this one individual."

The girl in the center of the picture was called the Red Soul. The Red Soul is a being blending into the humans who is supposed to lead her army.

One problem. Who was the Red Soul?
