Chapter Thirty-Five
PAIGE'S P.O.V.
Bailey and I know that it is not Christian-like to snap at a person, especially if the person is your sister, but I did not blame her. I am sooooo thankful that Penny is nothing like Betsy because I have no clue what the heck I would do if I were in Bailey's shoes. In no way am I saying that Betsy is an evil girl. I am not saying that at all. Only those fake Christians would say that atheists and other religions are evil.
Not all atheists are wicked, however, we cannot deny that there are bad seeds. Just like "Christians," there are bad seeds planted in the atheist community, and as we know, these bad seeds give people a bad name, like Pastor Hill and his friends.
For those of you nonbelievers who respect Christian beliefs, thank you for not being a pain in the butt. As much as I wish that you had a relationship with God, I would never force my beliefs on you. Forcing you to believe is like putting a gun to your head. I would not want a gun aimed at my head. I am a Christian, but I am still human. Bailey and I make mistakes like you.
Speaking of mistakes, I confronted Bailey about hers as we flew to the cave, our magical wings flapping in the wind. The cool wind felt good on my face. I really needed it. Probably because I was stressed. Thinking about the battle between the Christians and evil was giving me the headache of a lifetime.
I rubbed my temples and looked at Bailey. "I cannot believe that you brought along your sister."
"What else was I supposed to do, Paige?" she replied with anger in her voice. "You know that I just cannot let her interfere with...what we are doing."
Betsy, who was in a small plane that the fairies made for - and still handcuffed to Bailey - shouted, "I have ears, so I can hear you!"
Bailey locked eyes with hers. "How the crub can you hear us with all this wind?!"
Betsy cupped her hands around her mouth. "I can do things that you dream of because I am the oldest!"
"I do not know what you are talking about because I am the sister with wings and superpowers!"
"Those wings and superpowers are as fake as God!"
"I think that is enough of your sisterly love," I cut in. I lowered my voice to a whisper. "Now I understand why you snapped at her in the last chapter."
Bailey looked back at me. "She is the one who landed you in the hospital. Do not forget that."
I nodded. "I know, I know."
She let out a whoosh of air. "I love my sister. I really do. But she sometimes gets under my skin."
I hesitated. "...are you shoving your beliefs down her throat?"
"No. I would never do that. I cannot believe that you would suggest such a thing."
"I only want to figure out why Betsy absolutely hates Christianity."
"Me too, Paige. Me too."
Little did we know that the sword would change our lives forever.
"We are here at last!" Blue announced as the ancient cave came into view. "Thank gosh that you ladies did not get shot. I was worried that your wings would get damaged."
"Why do you think that we would have gotten shot?" I asked.
"Two words. Anti-Christians."
"That is one word."
"Not in my book."
The six of us landed in front of this huge cave. It was so large that it could probably swallow up the whole town of Forlot. If it were a living animal. Thank gosh that it was. Forlot would never stand a chance.
As Bailey and I walked towards said cave, the fairies had to help Betsy lower the plane and get out of it. I looked at Bailey and raised an eyebrow.
"Bailey?"
"Yes, Paige?"
"How can you be here next to me when Betsy is over there?"
"Whatever do you mean?"
I crossed my arms over my chest. "You are supposed to be handcuffed with Betsy. Or did the writer forget that important detail?"
"Oh, she did not forget. I was able to use some of my powers to make the chain on the handcuffs longer."
I glanced at the handcuffs, and then back at her. "So why did you not use your powers to either unlock or break the handcuffs?"
"I thought about breaking them, however, Blue gave me the bad news."
"What is the bad news that he gave you?"
"He stated that there is no force in the world - except God's - that can free you from handcuffs. So the only way that I can break free is if I have the key. He also said that is why cops use handcuffs."
"I thought that cops use handcuffs so that the crooks cannot do anything other than walk and run."
"That too."
"Why the crub are these handcuffs so flippin' long?" Betsy spat as she walked over to us. "I have a sneaky hunch that you have something to do with it, Bailey."
Bailey's eyelids lowered halfway. It was as if she were getting tired of her sister. And she probably was. She dusted off her shirt and said, "You are right, sister of mine. I made the chain longer because I am just sick of you walking all over me."
"I do not walk all over you."
"Yes, you do. You hover over me all the time and act like that you are Mom or Dad."
"I am your older sister."
"To make matters worse, Betsy, you always check if I am reading my Bible or viewing a Christian movie or doing anything else that involves Christianity."
"I do because—"
Betsy was cut off by Blue.
"Guys," Blue said. "I am afraid that we will be unable to go in the cave. We have to turn around."
