Chapter Twenty-Eight
I leaped from the stool and ran to her. I wrapped my arms around her and hugged her tightly with a big smile. "Boy, am I glad to see you, Ash."
My writer giggled and hugged me back. "It is good to star in another one of my fabulous Forlot books. It is a shame that some people hate what I write just because I will not support certain groups."
"They are real worlders. What did you expect? And that is coming from a young man who is a true Christian."
We pulled away from each other, and Anti-Cindy tilted her head to the side. She had never seen our writer before.
"Who is the racist real worlder?" she spoke, assuming that Ash was a racist.
I pushed up my glasses and tugged on Ash's wrist, indicating for her to come close to the anti and join us.
"This girl is neither a real worlder nor a racist. Some real worlders believe that she is a racist because of her beliefs. Being a true Christian and all that."
"So...she is not one of those real worlders who likes to ruin fictional characters and fictional franchises by incorporating terrible agendas?"
"Nope. She is on our side. She has a kind heart and loves males, especially males like me!"
Ash's smile grew wide, and she held out her hand for Anti-Cindy to shake. "I am the writer and creator of the Forlot series. My name is Ashley J., but you can call me Ash."
Anti-Cindy looked down at the hand, and then back at her and shook on it. "Nice to meet you....uh...do I know you?"
"No, and that is perfectly fine. None of the LotFor characters know that I exist. Just the Lubriem."
"I heard the story of the Lubriem. Not a single detail was left out except...what happened to her?"
The writer plopped in the chair next to Cindy's anti, and her face saddened. Though, it was only pretend. She put a hand over Anti-Cindy's.
"I know just how you feel."
"You do?"
"Being lost and your brain spinning from all the confusion and evil. Yeah."
"No one...nobody has ever understood me like this before."
"Ash understands everyone," I said with pride. "We are blessed that we got a writer who cares more about characters and storylines rather than stupid plot devices."
Anti-Cindy jerked her hand away and wrapped her arms around her legs. She was curled into a ball, and I comforted her.
"I fully understand all my characters," Ash explained. "From the heroes to the villains. Heck, I prefer Ava over most real worlders."
I nodded in agreement. "Amen."
"Enough about the real worlders. I am done with them. They are in my past, and that is where they belong." She clasped her hands in her lap. "If anybody desires to know information about the Lubriem, he or she should contact me first if possible. I know everything about her."
"Hold it," Anti-Cindy said. "The Lubriem is a girl?"
"Yes. A bright and wise one at that. Why do you ask?"
She giggled nervously. "You are going to think that I am stupid."
"None of my characters are stupid, and that is a fact."
"Um...I always assumed that the Lubriem...was a boy."
I was taken aback by this, and even our writer was shocked.
"How did you think that the Lubriem was a boy? Did whoever explained the story to you get confused and call her by a he?"
"Nobody told me the story. I read it in a book."
"A book?" I repeated. "That cannot be."
Ash remained calm. "I know that there is a bookstore that is similar to Forlot's in LotFor. How many Lubriem books are there?"
"Just the one that I read. It has a dark red cover and no title."
My writer opened her mouth to speak, but I jumped in.
"Anti-Cindy, listen to my every word. That Lubriem book is important information that must be brought to Forlot. You need to take us to it."
The anti uncurled herself, sat up straight, and squinted at me. "Why should I?"
"If you do not...if we do not get that book and bring it to Forlot...Forlot and LotFor will both be doomed."
She growled and pushed me away, and I staggered back.
"Anti-Cindy, please—"
"That is why you brought me to the Forlot hospital, is it not?"
I was confused. "W-what?"
"You are acting nice towards me only because you want me to be the same way towards you."
"That is not true."
"Caleb is not one to manipulate," Ash came to my defense. "He is a true child of the King."
Cindy's anti looked at her, and then back at me. She huffed and stormed out of the office.
"Wait!" Ash and I said in unison. We hurried after her.
Luckily for us, she had not gone far. She was by a door and on her knees. Her face was buried in her hands, and she was crying.
We slowly walked up to her, careful to not scare her.
"Anti-Cindy...?" I said.
"Go away. Leave me alone. Actually, do not."
"Do not what?"
"Do not leave me. I need you."
"Uh..." I faced my writer. She had her phone out and was typing the end of this chapter. "What the crub, Ash? Why the change of emotion?"
"Trust me, Caleb. Ask her what is the matter."
"Um...okay..." I looked back at the anti. "What is wrong?"
"Anti-Caleb...does not love me anymore..."
"What makes you say that?"
"I opened this door a crack..." She motioned to the door. "...and saw and heard him flirting with Ava..."
"Which Ava?"
"Your Ava. He wants her to be his bride..."
I bent down next to her and rubbed her back. "Maybe it is for the best."
Suddenly, she grabbed my face - and kissed me!
