Chapter One
Only a true fan recalls Dr. Maxwell. Dr. Hugo Maxwell. A true fan also recalls him trying to kidnap Margie and Laura. He was obsessed with them. He wanted them to be part of his perfect family. Margie as his daughter. It is one of the reasons why he messed with her heart. He was trying to make her his perfect daughter. He ripped her open to mess up her healthy heart. A mad scientist.
Eleanor is Dr. Maxwell's biological daughter. So is Ava. Ava was the perfect daughter. Her wavy, chocolate hair and flawless skin. Her glistening eyes and kind smile. I cannot believe that I am describing Ava. She used to be like Cindy. Now she is the wicked witch of Forlot. How would her life have played out if Maxwell had not been strict?
Dr. Maxwell gave up on Ava and her brother, Slapi. He turned his attention to Eleanor - and despised her. She was not a perfect daughter for some reason. He wanted to get rid of her. Not put her up for adoption. Not leave her with a loving family. He wanted to end her life. Kill her. Maxwell made her in his own lab. Eleanor was not truly human. She was this purple-and-black goo mixed with his DNA. Dr. Maxwell created Eleanor clones, but ended production when he was upset with the original. He destroyed those clones and decided that it would be easier to steal a child. The perfect daughter.
Dr. Maxwell had his eyes on Margie ever since that she and Lean Share visited his spare lab - and blew it up. It did not seem to phase him as all that he craved for was his dream family. Laura, Nigel's mom, as his wife. And Margie as their daughter. If he had to threaten them or hypnotize them or mess with their hearts, so be it. This perfect family would be a fictional reality. But little did he know that it would be a challenge.
As you might have expected, Margie and Laura wanted nothing to do with him. They knew how insane he was. Laura did love Maxwell at one point, but she witnessed his true colors and cut ties with him. Literally. She said bye and cut his tie in half. It is one of the many ways to say goodbye forever to jerks. Too bad that Maxwell did not get the hint. He would be her husband whether she liked it or not.
No way would Margie be a daughter to the person who nearly killed her. She was taken to the hospital because of heart trouble. This town would have lost its Monster Protector thanks to Dr. Maxwell and his cronies. But in the end, Margie and her friends won. She survived and got back her parents - that Maxwell kidnapped and put in test tubes. And she needs her older sister as much as her sister needs her. Maxwell did not stand a chance. If he kidnapped her, her enormous family would come. It was not worth the risk. But what they were unaware of was his backup plan. If Margie could never be his, then he would create one.
The scientist combined his DNA and Margie's to create a new character. She had long, brown hair with a black hairband and a yellow bow. She had on a bright yellow, short-sleeved shirt with black slacks and black shoes.
Maxwell was rubbing his hands together and smirking. He could hardly wait until his new and improved child came out of the tube. He would make sure that she did not end up like Eleanor or Ava or Slapi. He would keep her in line - if she wanted to live.
"Margo," he said. "Your name is Margo. I am your dad. I am the one who brought you into this world. Not God or the folks in Forlot. Me. I made you because I cannot live my life without you." He put his hands on the glass of the tube. "You owe me. I want you. No one else. You exist just because of me and my genius, so you owe me. All that I want is for you to make me proud. Follow the rules, and you will have the greatest life."
He took a step back when his new creation slapped her hand on said glass. It slid down before returning to her side.
Excitement flooded his body. He held out his hands as his eyebrows went up. He had waited for this since last week. So much work. So much waiting. And his perfect child was alive. Alive like him and the other townsfolk.
Beads of sweat ran down his forehead as he sprinted to the red lever. He grabbed it tightly. "Yes...yes! Come to life, Margo. Come to your father. Open those eyes so ya can see me."
A few seconds later...Margo's eyes opened. She opened her eyes for the first time and gazed down. She spotted Dr. Maxwell and slowly raised her hand. She pointed a shaky finger at him. She wanted to know who he was.
"Can you hear me?"
She slowly nodded.
"Do you know what a dad is?"
She slowly nodded once more.
"I am Dr. Maxwell. But you will call me Dad. I am Dad. I am the only person that you need to get through life." He pulled said lever. "You are Margo! Margo Maxwell! You are my daughter!"
The lab door opened. Paul, the bus driver, raced in and said, "I heard you shouting. Is something wrong?"
Maxwell was admiring his creation. "Something will go wrong if she does not make it out alive."
Paul's eyes locked on the tube - the being inside - as he walked to him. "Cannot believe that you are doing this. I told you that this was a bad idea."
"And I told you at the beginning of last week that I was doing it."
Margo suddenly screamed.
