Chapter Thirty

Holy mackerel. It was Enoch! The same black hair and pale skin. The same clothes and black lines. How can this be? How the heck can he be a real fictional character? He was supposed be a part of Wendow and Triso's imagination and nothing more.

Unless...Wendow and Triso brought their oc to life using their alien powers. I was going to have to pick a bone with them.

"Oh! That Stanley. He is hot."

"Of course, he is hot, and he considers me beautiful. That is why we are dating."

Triso shook her head sadly. "Not in the fanfictions that Wendow and I wrote."

"Who do you ship me with? Who is your oc?"

"His name is Enoch. We drew a picture of him."

"Let me see."

Triso handed me the drawing, and I examined every detail. On the bottom right was the name Enoch, and underneath that was the title Monster Protector. Enoch had short, black hair and pale skin and wore a black, sleeveless shirt with rips at all ends and matching shorts. There were also thick, black lines all over his skin.

Enoch bowed. "It is an honor to meet the one and only Margie Morgan."

"Yeah..." I replied. I rubbed the back of my neck and took a step backwards. "Look, you do not need to bow to me. I am imperfect. I am not a god."

He tilted up his head and gazed into my eyes as if he were staring at my soul. "You are perfect to me, Margie Morgan." He took my hand into his and kissed the top of it. "I would not consider that you are perfect if I was not attracted to you."

I jerked my hand away and could not believe my ears. "A-attracted? To me?"

Enoch rose, and I happened to take note right then that he was taller than me. He towered over me and stroked one of my braids with the back of his finger. I felt uncomfortable by his touch and frankly, the rest of him and slapped his hand away.

"Ouch!" He immediately pulled back and massaged the spot where I had slapped. Sadly for me, he did not get angry at me for slapping him. Instead, he took it as a sign that I liked him - which I did not!

"Nobody touches me unless they have permission from me," I stated. "Be a gentleman and have some respect. Both for me and for you."

"My apologies," the boy apologized. "I just have been waiting for a lifetime to meet you in person and catch up on things."

"Hate to break it to ya, but we cannot possibly catch up on things if we have never met each other in the flesh until now."

"True, Margie. True," McKinley agreed with me as he took his sweet time towards us. "That does not mean, however, that you should not give each other a chance."

I glared at the first Monster Protector with my eyebrows narrowed. "You want me to date this guy? I have a boyfriend!"

Enoch's face saddened when I revealed that I was already taken, and McKinley comforted him while chatting with me.

"In no way am I saying that you should date my granddaughter's son."

I glanced at the boy, and then back at McKinley. "Enoch...is Skylar's son?"

"Yes, Margie. He is also a Monster Protector."

My mouth dropped open. "H-he is?"

"This young fellow was the youngest Monster Protector. That is, until you came along. And that is a blessing because now he finally has a Monster Protector and a new friend the same age as him."

I was so blown away at the latest reveals that I had to sit. A couple Monster Protectors got me a chair, and I sat down. I slouched in the chair and massaged my temples. If I did not keep myself calm, I would have fainted.

Enoch scooted until he was next to me and held a single flower in front of my face. It was a red rose with tiny sparkles sprinkled on it.

"Will you give us a chance to be a couple? I know that you stated clearly that you have a boyfriend, but we can date without him knowing."

Was he serious? If I dated Enoch behind Stanley's back, I would be cheating on Stanley. Stanley was too good of a gentleman to do that to, and I truly love him, not Enoch.

I pushed away his rose. "I am not cheating on my boyfriend. I told this to Wendow and Triso and will tell you the same. I do not want to be shipped with any character other than Stanley Stine. He is my true love, and I am his true love. You got that?"

Enoch became sad again, and the rose fell forward. I will admit that I did feel a bit sorry for breaking his heart.

"But we can be friends if you would like."

The boy released the flower and watched it flutter to the ground. He then raised his foot...and stomped on it.

"Sorry, Margie, but being friends with you is not good enough." With that, he stormed off in the opposite direction.

I suddenly had a bad feeling and asked McKinley if I could be absent for an hour or so. McKinley said that I was free to go and to return tomorrow, and I rushed out of the secret hideout and to the hospital. But I did not even step foot in the building because of what I was seeing.

I was passing the wide window that separated the outside from the cafeteria when I eyed something awful. Something juicy.

I stopped in my tracks and pressed my face and palms against the glass. I do not know how I kept myself from crying my heart out, but I had every right to be sad. And even mad.

Scarlett and Stanley were kissing. On the lips.
