Chapter Twenty-Two

"It is about time that you enter this book!" Lean called to Mary Sue's anti.

Anti-Mary Sue was like our Mary Sue in many ways. She was a tough girl, a fighter, and did crazy things that the average human would never do while making these weird noises.

"Ready or not, here I come!" Anti-Mary Sue called back to us as she swung on a long and thick rope that was hanging from...somewhere.

The anti twins were taken by surprise and shifted their bodies around, and that was perfect timing for Anti-Mary Sue because she put her feet on their faces and pushed them to the hard ground. They cried out and fell, and their guns slipped from their grasps and skidded to me and Lean.

Anti-Mary Sue laughed like the original and loomed over Anti-Hansel and Anti-Gretel, her hands on her hips.

Believe me when I tell you that Anti-Mary Sue could be mistaken for a Forlot character. She looked nothing like Mary Sue! Her hair was smooth, and she wore a pink, short-sleeved shirt with a big, white star on the front, purple slacks, and purple shoes.

"Hansel and Gretel. When will either of you receive character development?" the good anti taunted.

"Blah!" Anti-Hansel stuck out his tongue. "If it means that the fans will like us, no thanks!"

"We are better off living the way that we do now," Anti-Gretel agreed. "And you should be in prison until you die!"

Anti-Mary Sue growled. "In your dreams."

For the next few minutes, Lean and I watched as the good anti gathered the anti twins and tied them to a nearby pole.

"That should hold you for a while." She walked up to us and shook hands with Lean Share. "My good friend from the other dimension. How have you been?"

"I could be doing better," the ghost confessed sadly. "I do not like dealing with Ava's, Mary Sue's, and Katrina's antics. And guess what? In the last book, I had to deal with all three of them!"

"Jeez. Talk about a streak of bad luck. Just be glad that your Forlot town is not ruled by an evil and crazy dude." She faced me and examined me from top to bottom. "Judging by the fact that you are wearing a tacky outfit - no offense - you must be the Caleb from Forlot."

"That I am," I replied. "A pleasure to you."

"Right back at ya." She winked at me and set a backpack on the ground.

As I watched the ghost and anti chatting with each other, I could not help but blush. Yes! My cheeks were growing hot! Why? I have no stinkin' clue! I thought at first that maybe I was worried about my girlfriend Cindy and eager to see her safe and sound.

When I glanced at Anti-Mary Sue, it all became clear.

What are you doing to me, writer?!

Anti-Mary Sue placed the guns into her backpack, zipped it back up, and swung the straps over her shoulders. She gave me a reassuring smile.

"Correct me if I am wrong, Caleb, but did you get separated from Anti-Ava and a group of girls who are from your dimension?"

I shrugged my shoulders. "If running from the group because you accidentally transformed your girlfriend and sister into hideous statues with powers that you had no idea that you had until then is your definition of separated..."

"Hey, it is okay now. Your sister and girlfriend are no longer statues. They are alive and waiting for you."

I gasped. "Are you serious?"

"Of course. Unlike your Mary Sue, I am always serious." She motioned for me and Lean to follow her. "They are in Anti-Ava's hideaway, along with Ava, Mary Sue, Anti-Ava, Collin, Cameron, and Cal."

I let out a sigh of relief. "That is the best news that I have gotten in a long time. Wait. Are, um...are my parents and Cindy's parents there too?"

"Unfortunately, yes, but you do not need to worry about them. Everybody else was so fed up with them that Ava used her powers to make the two couples four good-looking statues."

"Dang. That is the only good thing that Ava has done. Besides defeating George in book seven."

It did not take us long to locate Ada's hideout, for it was only a block from us, and we went in. When the three of us landed on the mattress, I was greeted by my friends...and Ava and Mary Sue.

"Look at who I found!" Anti-Mary Sue announced.

"Caleb!" Joan, Cindy, Collin, and Cameron said my name in unison. They rushed up to me.

Joan was the first to embrace me in a hug. "My big brother. I was sure that I would lose you again."

I hugged her back. "I thought the same, sis."

"Where have you been?" Collin questioned with concern.

"It is a long story."

After hugs from Cameron and Collin, Cindy took my hand into hers and led me to the circle. A small fire was in the middle, and Cindy set me next to Cal, and then sat next to me and snuggled against me.

My sister and cousins returned to their seats, and Lean and Anti-Mary Sue joined.

"Do not keep us in suspense, Caleb," Collin said. "What happened to you?"

Ada crossed her arms. "I suppose that you met him."

"If you are referring to my anti, yes."

Cindy rested her head on my shoulder. "I am guessing that he is bad."

"Worse than that. He is not just bad. He is evil. And he is not just evil. He rules LotFor."

"Get out!" Joan said.

"Okay." I got up.

"Not literally."

"Oh." I sat back down, and Cal tugged on my sleeve. "Yes, my son?"

"Daddy? Are you and Mommy brother and sister? 'Cause I would be scarred for life."
