Chapter Twenty-Two
The women looked to be in their twenties or thirties. One had black hair, and the other had brown. The black-haired woman wore a black, sleeveless shirt, black slacks, and black boots. Different kinds of tattoos were all over her arms, and she was chewing on what I guessed was blueberry bubblegum. The brown-haired woman was wearing a pink shirt with a jean jacket over it. She also wore jeans that had holes where you could see her knees and green shoes. She was holding her purse in one hand and a shake in the other.
I did not want to judge them by how they looked and instead wanted to be as polite as I could towards them. While Mary Sue was reading the words on the card, I leaned forward to view them better and gave them a warm smile.
"Greetings," I greeted. "To what do we owe the pleasure?"
"'Greetings'?" the lady with the purse repeated the word. "Why did you say that? Why not say hello? Only aliens from outer space are supposed to say the word 'greetings.'"
I opened my mouth, but stopped myself from speaking. I was going to tell the ladies that I was kind of like an alien because my friends and I were not from the real world and add that I am a fictional character. Two things stopped me from telling this to them. One, they would probably laugh at me because they would not believe that I was indeed fictional. And two, Ash strictly forbade us from admitting to the real world that we are fictional. She was afraid that real worlders would invade the town of Forlot if the secret got out.
I quickly thought of another thing to say. "How are you?"
"Good," the lady with the tattoos answered. "We are having the best day ever." She motioned to the other woman and herself. "My friend and I finally told our parents that we are gay. They did not accept it at first, but they said to give them time to process it."
"That is why we are here," the other woman stated. "My girlfriend and I are celebrating that we do not have to hide our sexuality anymore."
You readers would assume that I was shocked that they were lesbians. Well, you would be wrong. I was not taken aback at all. Not even a little. It was common nowadays to know or run into somebody who was gay, bisexual, non-binary, and transgender. These four sexualities go against God, so I was a bit disappointed when they told us that they were lesbians. However, I was not about to argue with them. I did not want to force them to not be gay. God calls for us to not force anybody to Him.
"That is nice that you are happy, I guess?" I said as nicely as I could. Let me tell you that it was hard to compliment them when I knew the truth. "Personally, I do not agree with the gay thing, but I will respect your decision."
"Thank you," the brown-haired lady thanked. "May I ask why you do not support gays and lesbians? I promise to respect your opinion. I am just curious."
Before I could even utter a sound, Mary Sue tossed the card onto our table and beat me to the punchline.
"Is this some kind of sick joke?"
"What is a sick joke? What is the matter, Mary Sue?" Sophia wondered.
Ava picked up the card and quickly read it. She burst out laughing.
"What is so funny, Ava?" I asked.
Ava forced her laughs to die down. "You are going to get a kick out of this, Cassandra. These two lovely ladies asked Mary Sue if she would go on a date with them."
I looked at Mary Sue, and then back at Ava. "You are kidding."
"That is what we wrote on the card," the black-haired woman confirmed. "We know that we should have asked what her sexuality is before we asked her to date us, but we wanted to be cute and romantic."
"You think that Mary Sue is beautiful?" Ava questioned them.
"More than that. She is hot."
It was clear that Mary Sue was uncomfortable about this situation. One, she is straight, not gay. And two, a couple of real worlders were the ones who asked her.
Mary Sue elbowed Ava in her side. "Move it."
Ava grinned as she slid out of the booth. "Guess that she shares the same feelings that you have about her," she joked.
Mary Sue quickly scooted out from the booth and dashed to the restroom. It was a single bathroom that anyone could use.
I decided that it would be best if I kept her company to make sure that she did not continue on her rampage and followed her to the restroom. I closed the bathroom door behind me and saw Mary Sue on one of her knees and picking a weapon to use. She had a bunch of weapons lying on the floor, such as a gun, a dagger, and a sword.
"Which one should I use on those girls? Heck, which one should I use on the whole restaurant?"
"Mary Sue?"
Her head faced my direction. "Hey, Cassandra? Which of my weapons do you think that will kill all the real worlders in this restaurant faster?"
I grabbed her wrist and forced her to stand and turn around. "You are not killing or attempting to kill any more real worlders," I said sternly. "That was part of the bet, remember? You would not take any more lives until our writer approved. If she does not approve, then you have to put the real worlders behind you and move on. You have to let them live."
She jerked away from me. "You do not know the real worlders like I do. If I spare them...then Forlot characters die."
