Chapter Three
I was not always the evil girl that I am. I know, I know. Most fictional villains start off with that sentence, but the same can be said about me. Although, I did not have the slightest good in me, and that will be clear to you readers why as you read on.
Allow us to recap what has been already received in the other books. I was not born like normal people. I was created by Dr. Hugo Maxwell and in a long and narrow tube. I was never a baby or toddler. I was a smart and curious teen and referred to as Dr. Maxwell's daughter.
My younger brother, Slapi, was also made by him, but we will get to him as my backstory progresses.
Dr. Maxwell and Mary Sue's father, Dr. Simon Frost, used to be the best of friends. This is when Mary Sue was not a psycho - by that, I mean that she was not in her correct state of mind, for I myself am not a psychopath - and she was the same age as me.
Dr. Maxwell, my "father," had been waiting for this day to come. The day that I would be completed. He had done so much for me, including stealing a small sample of Caleb Night's DNA and having the technology to bring me to life.
Am I grateful for his so-called "kindness"? Not in the very least. If not for him, I would not exist as the greatest villain in the fictional world, but what he put me through was heck.
I was not created with blonde hair or the clothes that I wear. It was the opposite, and you would not believe that it was truly me. Instead of blonde, my hair was brown and tied in a bun, and I was forced to wear a one-piece princess outfit that had short sleeves.
In addition to such a horrific dress, I also had on high heels that showed my feet and toes. I cannot begin to tell you how uncomfortable it was to see my bare feet.
After weeks of floating inside a tube, Dr. Maxwell was prepared to release me onto the town of Forlot. He had invited Dr. Frost and Mary Sue to view his most impressive creation. I was connected to wires and had my eyes shut, but could hear every word.
"Dang," Dr. Frost said. "I really thought that I was saving you from disappointment when you were telling me of her. Guess that you proved me wrong."
"I am more interested if you are impressed," Dr. Maxwell stated.
"Of course, I am impressed, Maxwell."
"And you, Mary Sue. You must be impressed too."
Mary Sue was just that. A Mary Sue. Everything that she said or did was perfect. Between you and me, I am glad that she went off her rocker.
"I am too perfect to be impressed," she explained. "Anything is possible if you work hard for it. Ooh! A hundred-dollar bill."
"Are you sure that bringing her to life is a good idea?" Dr. Frost asked Dr. Maxwell. "I mean, what if something goes wrong?"
"Simon, you are clearly overthinking it. Besides, what could go wrong? It is not like that she will betray me and abuse a boy who was abandoned by his parents."
If only I could see his face now.
Dr. Maxwell must have pressed a button or something because electricity shocked my body. I cried in agony as I was awakened from my deep slumber.
Hugo was thrilled. "She is alive. Alive!" He pushed a button on his remote control.
My tube opened, and I fell out of it and onto the hard floor. I was covered in green goo and the cords that broke off the tube.
I coughed up green goo and surveyed the place. I blinked once. Twice. I looked at my hands that were covered with long gloves.
Mary Sue slowly went up to me and waved. "Hi."
"Ah!" She accidentally scared the living jeepers out of me, and I scooted back. I was catching my breath.
"It is okay. I will not hurt you, mystery girl," she reassured me. "I am too perfect to do that."
"Where...where am I? Who am I?" I wrapped my thumb and fingers around my throat. "And why the heck am I talking?"
Dr. Maxwell held out his hand for me to take. I took it, and he helped me up. He welcomed me with open arms. Literally.
"Hello, my daughter. I have been waiting a long time for you."
"Huh? Daughter? What is a...daughter?"
He wrapped his arms around me and pulled me close to him. "I will teach you everything that you need to know in order to be normal."
"Teach her properly, and she will be as perfect as my Mary Sue," Dr. Frost commented.
"We can be friends!" Mary Sue exclaimed happily.
I tilted my head to the side. "What are...friends?"
Mary Sue's father asked, "What name are you going to give her?"
Hugo grinned. "I have the perfect name for my teenage daughter." He planted a kiss on my forehead. "Ada. Ada Maxwell."
Little did either of us know that I would not be a Maxwell for long.
