Chapter Thirteen

I knew these powers all too well. According to the few who know about them, the powers that somehow worked their way into my blood are a mix of purple and black and referred to as "Non-Fiend" powers.

To recap, it was revealed way back in book four that Ava had the same powers. She was born with them and used them for her gain.

Book four also mentioned the term "Non-Fiends." "Non-Fiends" are a group of people, real fictional characters, who have purple and black blood, the "Non-Fiend" blood, and are not fiends. And yes. Always put quotations when you use "Non-Fiend" or "Non-Fiends."

I know what there is to know about "Non-Fiends." They are Christians and dislike real worlders. Why do they dislike real worlders? 'Cause they - by they, I mean most real worlders - are a pain in the bottom. The real worlders demand that you agree with their opinions no matter how wrong they are, and if you disagree with them, you are considered to be a racist, homophobic, transphobic, and much more.

I have a new word, and that is Jesusaphobic.

Back to the "Non-Fiend" powers. I was more than positive that I possessed the powers. The reason behind it remained a mystery. But it was easy to tell that I had them because they responded to emotions.

I had a mix of emotions. Sad. Mad. Shameful. A failure. Anything but joyful, and my powers reflected on those things. I was also aware that if the powers were showing because you were not joyful, they will freeze anyone who touches the black and purple mix.

Seeing that my powers were covering the entire hall really quick, I had no time to warn my sister and girlfriend.

A tear trickled down my soft, warm cheek as I felt Joan's and Cindy's fingers slip from my hands. My powers covered the girls from head to toe, and now the two important girls in my life were statues.

"No..." I whimpered. "...no..." I hid my hands under my armpits. But what good would that do? It would not stop the powers.

Mary Sue and Ada would have ended up statues too if not for Ava's bubble shield. Ava must have took notice of my "Non-Fiend" powers because she used hers to create a force field around her, Ada, and Mary Sue.

The three girls moved the bubble by running until they were by my side.

Mary Sue pressed her face against the bubble and tsk-tsked. "Welp, they are goners."

"Caleb, what happened? Did you do this?" Ada asked question after question. "Why are Joan and Cindy statues? Did you transform them into statues?"

"I did not mean to do it," I said softly. "I did not mean to..."

"That I can believe," Ava confessed. "What will your parents and Cindy's parents do when they see this mess?"

I did not want to think on that. The last thing that I wanted was for the parents to consider me a monster. After all, I am not a monster...right?

Too bad. So sad. I did not have to wonder anymore because the parents were now in the hallway, and when they recognized the poor statues to be that of Cindy and Joan, they freaked.

"White boys are evil! Caleb is evil!" Mr. Banks chanted.

"Stop the hate!" Mary Sue shouted at the top of her lungs. "I will kill you if I have to."

"You promised to not kill anymore," Ava reminded her.

"That was when it was discovered that the real worlders were no more, Ava."

"If I could, I would slap those poor excuses for adults," Ada commented. "Caleb? Caleb!"

I could not remain in the same area with Statue Cindy and Statue Joan any longer. I had to leave. My arms wrapped over my chest, I dashed out of the hall and hideaway. I kept running and running as more tears fell down my face.

"I am sorry, Cindy...I am sorry, Joan..."

I soon stumbled upon an old building. It was tall and wide and seemed abandoned. Some of the windows were either cracked or broken, and the front door was open and blowing in the breeze.

Call me crazy, but at the time, I was desperate to find a hiding place where the girls or parents would never look, and this abandoned building was my ticket.

There was a short set of stairs that led up to the porch, and as I made my way up the staircase, the steps creaked beneath my feet. My anxiety started up once again.

Is the place truly abandoned? Or is somebody living here? A dangerous and evil person?

Get it together, Caleb. You want to hide? You have to hide in here.

I swallowed hard and pushed open the door. I was greeted by nothing but the dark. Pitch black. I stepped inside and fumbled for a light switch. The lights flickered on - and I panicked.

I did not switch on the light! I had not located the switch!

I had made up my mind that I would not go through with this and was on my way out, when a black glove grabbed my shoulder and spun me around.

"Going so soon?" the person who was now in front of me said. His hands were on his hips.

The guy was my height. He had short, brown hair and was wearing a black suit with matching gloves, matching boots, and a matching cape, and all of those pieces of clothing consisted of white spikes. He also had on glasses.

That is strange. His glasses are the same as mine. Then I came to the realization.

I staggered back. "You...you are me."

"Correct, Caleb. I am Anti-Caleb, the evilest soul in the town of LotFor and the overlord."

"Y-you are the overlord?"

"Yes." He rubbed his hands together. "I have big plans for you."
