Chapter Four
Without realizing it, I began breathing heavily. Mary Sue with a real worlder and a knife could only mean one thing.
My eyes darted to the ropes. Then the tape over the poor man's mouth. Then at Mary Sue's knife. If it were possible, my heart would have literally dropped to my stomach.
"Hey!" Mary Sue shrieked, breaking the silence and pointing her dagger at me. "I overheard your narration, and in the second paragraph, you called the real worlder a poor man."
I took in a deep breath and let it out slowly. I had to show my courage. "Yes. Do not tell me that you find that offensive."
She swung the knife around. "Watch who you are talking to, Cassandra. Being offended only works on pathetic real worlders..." She pointed the dagger at the man. "...like him!"
"W-what are you talking about?" the man stuttered. The tape had fallen off, and it was clear that he was scared. "I-I have never been offended in my life."
Mary Sue quickly turned her head to look at him, and I knew that she was giving him the cold stare because the real worlder's face twisted. By that moment, I wished that I could free him from her insane clutches. Sadly, due to her craziness, she was both cleverer and stronger than me.
That is saying something. I am the smartest and strongest agent that the agency ever had!
"Hmm..." The crazy girl tapped her chin with her finger. "...maybe you need a reminder of how awful you and your species are. After all, real worlders are nothing but a bunch of—"
"That is enough!" I interrupted just in time. "We have been over this, Mary Sue. You cannot just label a group just because of one real worlder's poor judgment. Not all real worlders are evil."
"And I have told you this time and time again, Cassandra. Real worlders are sinners, and sin is evil."
I whipped my hair back. "There is a major difference between an evil person and a sinner. Everybody in the world is a sinner. I am a sinner, and you most certainly—"
She cut in. "Fictional characters, the right ones, learn from their mistakes. Real worlders? Not so much."
Then an interesting thought crept into my mind, and I just had to share it with Mary Sue. She would not like it, but it needed to be told.
"Mary Sue...how are you different from the people that you hate? How are you not like the real worlders?"
"That is easy. I am fictional. They are a bore. I am loving and kind. They are evil and rotten. I help those who need it. They murder their fellow neighbors."
I crossed my arms and frowned. "Like how you murdered tons of real worlders in the 1800's and 1900's?"
"Uh, what are you talking about?" the man joined in on our conversation. "How can she do murder way back in those decades when she is not dead? At the very least, she should be old and have wrinkles, but...she is as young as a teenager."
"I am a teen, you dummy," Mary Sue spat. "If you were like our brilliant writer, you would know that fictional characters do not age. At least, not in Forlot."
I squeezed my fingers with one hand and rocked back and forth on the heels of my shoes. "We - or should I say, I - need to tell you what really happened to all those people who died in those wars, sir."
When a person mentions something about a war, what is the first war that comes to mind? If you answered the Civil War, World War 1, or World War 2, you are correct! As a matter of fact, all of these wars have a connection with the town of Forlot...
...and Mary Sue.
Do you know how the Civil War, World War 1, and World War 2 started? Well...do you want to know? I will tell ya!
They were all set off by the same little words. Mary Sue.
That is correct! Mary Sue started the wars. She is responsible for the deaths of millions. I will not go into great detail on how she managed to start three chain reactions, but I will say that she fooled around with some legal documents and killed some real worlders here and there.
And if you really think that she regretted what she did, you would be totally wrong. Mary Sue was proud of her accomplishment - if you can even call it that - and liked to boast about it to the folks of Forlot.
What else can I say? I am terribly sorry for the losses of so many people.
While we are on the subject of Mary Sue's faults, I should also inform you the real reason why there are many poorly done reboots of fictional franchises. Mary Sue is behind that. I know, right?
You may be wondering why she would do such a thing. Really. You are wondering. Anyway, she planted the idea of reboots in the real worlders' heads and desired for us fictional characters to be separated from you guys, the real worlders.
Do not even get her started with toxic fandoms, but that is a story for another chapter.
"Mary Sue, please," I pleaded. "Do not kill this real worlder. You will keep making things worse."
"This crazy chick is going to kill me?!" the man exclaimed.
"No. No, no, no," Mary Sue said. "You have it all wrong, Cassandra. I am not going to murder him."
I let out a sigh of relief. "Phew!"
She sat in his lap and wrapped an arm around his shoulders. She poked his nose with the sharp end of the dagger.
"Like I said, I will not kill you...not until I make you suffer!"
Both the man and I screamed as Mary Sue shoved the knife into his chest.
