Chapter Forty-Three

——————————————————————————
One would make the grave mistake of assuming that Cindy and Diversity were twin sisters because they had the same skin color and same hair color. Cindy would forgive you for such an error and correct you. Diversity, on the other hand, would take offense and place a target on your back regardless of the fact that she was glad that she and Cindy were not sisters.

The girls were in their teen years. Diversity was one year older than Cindy and the favorite of the two. Her parents and Cindy's parents praised and respected her for what she accomplished. What else did she succeed at besides becoming the most powerful fictional character, you may ask? Being a scum and pushing race, gender, and sexual orientation into the town.

Cindy could not believe how stupid the parents were. In a nutshell, they were giving praise to a bully who had double standards and was using people. The worst part was how racist she was to those around her, especially her own kind. She would pretend to care about transgender, gay, and bisexual people only to turn around and stab them in the back somehow.

This is one of the differences between her and Cindy. Cindy did not support the ideas of being bisexual, gay, and transgender, but never once in her life would she cause harm to them. And yet some real worlders preferred Diversity over Cindy.

Diversity's encouragement towards other people is fake, however, we cannot say the same for her hatred towards skin color, especially those who are white. This was the reason that she was called a racist. No matter what skin color, Diversity would bully you over it. If she does not like something about you, she would immediately bring up race.

Cindy thought - no, knew - that her cousin was pathetic. Racism should have died a long time ago and should have stayed in the past. But here we are. Some real worlders are racist, and others use racism as an excuse. And how absurd it was when her own cousin used racism against her. That is low.

If Diversity's racism and the parents' idiotic standards continued, Cindy would have very well ended up like the rest of the family. But like when he convinced Kara, Wendow and Triso's mother, to not commit suicide, Caleb Night was there to save the day.

Cindy accidentally ran into Caleb when he was out on the streets. How great the Lord works. Cindy had an errand to run and was aware that her parents would punish her if she did not do it in a short amount of time. But you know what? She did not care if she did not take care of the errand. She did not care if her mom and dad grounded her for months. The only thing that was on her mind at that moment was to stay with Caleb.

That is how she found out who he was. That is how she found out what his mom and dad did to him. And that is how she realized that her life would never be the same.

Cindy offered Caleb to allow her to purchase him a snack and something to drink. Caleb denied because he did not want to give her the trouble to and did not want to see her give up something of hers for a guy that she just met.

"I insist," Cindy said. "You can pick out anything that you want. Anything at all. My family and I are rich, so it is no big deal that I lose a couple things."

She was able to convince him, and they went into the store of his choice. She watched and helped him. In the end, Caleb got a small meal that was already cooked, two candy bars, and a large bottle of water. They were checking out, when you-know-who showed up. That is right. Diversity.

Diversity was searching for her cousin and spotted her through the store's window. Her confusion was followed by anger. She did not understand - or should I say, she did not want to understand - why her own cousin was assisting a stranger. More precisely, why she was helping out a young man whose skin was white.

Diversity pushed open the front door and shouted, "Cindy!"

Cindy and Caleb jumped and spun around. Cindy was not in the best mood, and Caleb covered his ears.

Diversity stomped up to Cindy until the tips of their noses touched. "Wait until I tell your parents on you," she said in a threatening tone.

Cindy wrapped an arm around Caleb's and pulled him close to her. "Leave us alone, Diversity. Go on and tell my mom and dad. I do not give a crub."

"You are supposed to be at the grocery store and getting milk and other things. That is why your mother and father sent you out of the house. I need my milk for my cereal!"

"Go eat a piece of toast. This poor boy has not eaten for a day and is extremely hungry. Look at him."

"I am looking at him. He is a stupid white boy."

Caleb teared up and tilted his head down in shame. Cindy hugged him and gave her cousin a sickening glare.

"Could you forget about his skin color for even a second? Not once did I think about the color of his skin. I was more concerned that he is living in a box and is as thin as spaghetti."

"So why are you feeding him? He obviously cannot take care of himself."

"He is homeless, you moron! His parents abandoned him because they did not want him. What part of 'he is living in a box' do you not understand?"

"He deserves to be homeless and to starve because his ancestors put people of color into slavery."

Cindy looked at Caleb. "Caleb, you are staying at my house and having the biggest buffet ever."
