Chapter Forty

The invasion on Forlot. That vegetarian mentioned that my anti was planning on taking over Forlot. I needed to know everything about the invasion, and since that the parents were unable to spill it because of inducing too much trauma, the only person whom we could turn to was the vegetarian.

I let the team know that I would return soon and dashed from the basement and to the top floor. From the corner of my eye, I noticed that the door that led to the outside world was open and flapping in the wind. I ran as fast as my legs could carry me and out of the building. My eyes scanned the scenery and spotted something - no, someone - moving. It was the real worlder.

"Hey! Wait!" I screamed to her. Either she did not hear me or did not desire to hear more of what I had to say, so I chased her.

The real worlder rushed across the street and was heading in the direction of the woods. If she went in those woods, I would be unable to find her. And the town of Forlot as we know would be no more.

I prayed to the Lord for me to catch up to her, and as if an angel were pushing me - and that was most likely the case - I managed to catch up in seconds. I was now jogging by her.

"Hiya!" I greeted happily. "My apologies that I have to bother you, but we have a slight problem."

The girl was shocked to see me and frowned. "Have you changed your mind about me being free? 'Cause I am never returning to that smelly cell again."

"Goodness, no. You are welcome to be free as much as you desire. I just need something from you."

"If it is any of my organs, you are crazy."

"No. I need some information. That is all."

We skidded to a stop and faced each other. She huffed and tapped her foot impatiently. I explained to her that I come from Forlot and needed to know of the invasion. She listened intently.

"So you see..." I said. "...Forlot is my home. Not just my home, but for lots of people. If Anti-Caleb takes over Forlot or destroys it, lives will be lost."

Her face looked as if she were debating whether the town of Forlot was worth saving. "Is Forlot anything like LotFor?"

"Nope. We do have similar laws, but the rulers in Forlot do not push the rules to the extreme."

"Who is your ruler?"

"A good man. He is a Christian and the mayor."

"A Christian? Blah!"

I pushed up my glasses with a finger, feeling disappointed that she did not care about Christians. "Why do you have a problem with Christians?"

She played with a hair strand. "Not surprised that you would ask such a stupid question. After all, you are a Christian."

"My question is not stupid. I am curious to know why you are not fond of Christians."

"Why should I? You will only defend the Christians."

"I promise that I will not judge you. You say what you have to get off your chest, and I will voice my opinion on it without rudeness."

She became a bit curious. "How can I trust you?"

"If I happen to begin calling you names and bully you, you have every right to slap me in my face. But under no circumstance will you be offended."

"Alright." She held out an open hand. "What do I got to lose?"

We shook on it, and she told me her backstory with Christians. Turns out, the Christians that she unfortunately had to deal with all her life were not Christians at all.

One time, she admitted to her Christian parents that she was supporting the gay community. How did her "Christian" parents react? They gave her nothing to eat for the entire week. Another time, she announced to her classmates that she would be a vegetarian. How did the "Christian" students react? They bullied her and wished that she was dead.

Christians should never go to extremes in order to force nonbelievers to believe what they believe. It is wrong. The Lord wants us to come to Him willingly and commands us to love our neighbors.

"Those are all troubling," I said when she had finished. "I am sorry."

The real worlder ran her fingers through her hair. "Well?"

"Well what?"

"This is the part where you defend those Christians and say that I am in the wrong."

"Uh, no. I am not going to do that."

She was surprised...and confused. "You are a Christian...right?"

"I am not a Christian. I am a true Christian."

Her face scrunched up. "What is the difference?"

"True Christians do not bash on nonbelievers. We do stand up for the Lord, but not to the point where we become the bullies. "Christians" forget that the Bible says that God loves the sinner, but not the sin. That is why I do not support the idea of being gay. But I love people who are gay. They are beings like me and should be treated that way."

The vegetarian hesitated. "...why would you love a person whom you do not support some of their ideas?"

I smiled a little. "I share my love to the world so maybe those who do not know the Lord will see who He really is through me."

The real worlder stared as if she were getting a glimpse of my soul. "In other words, Caleb, what you believe is a cult."

"If you think that it is a cult, fine. I am telling you that it is not."

"You are delusional. If you cannot support gays and transgenders, you are..."

I zoned out because I noticed a thick pole was falling - and it was about to fall on her.

I pushed her out of the way - and it fell on me instead.
