Chapter Twenty

There was another reason why my writer explained my family dilemma. I bet that you can guess who showed up.

"Hi, brother of mine," Brendan greeted me with one of his infamous grins. "I am so happy that I found you."

I crossed my arms over my chest. "I wish that you found me dead," I muttered under my breath.

Victoria overheard me and elbowed me in the side. "You really should not go around and wish that you were dead, especially in Territory of Terror," she whispered in my ear. "An innocent person was murdered when the park was still open for business. Why, you could be next."

"Victoria, you do not know my brother like me. Trust me when I say that he is a menace and gets away with his wrong - no, evil - behaviors. I am practically his slave."

"Brandon, you are overthinking it. You have to realize that he is younger than you, which means that he will be immature and annoying."

Jason grabbed me and Victoria by the arms and pushed us away from Brendan so that he would not hear any more of the conversation. He released our arms and confirmed my claims. He told us the time that I left him with my brother for only fifteen minutes. I remembered that incident. It was before I came to the conclusion that Brendan was a psychopath.

My parents were not home at the time, and my best friend and I desired to test a video game that received great reviews. I planned on trading one of my good games for the new one and instructed Jason to watch my little brother.

"You sure about this, Brandon?" Jason questioned. "I am not a babysitter."

"It will not take me long. Just keep an eye on him and make sure that he does not do anything dangerous."

You readers are probably wondering why Jason and I did not just take Brendan with us to the video game store. Instead of wondering, you should be relieved that I decided to leave him home because one can only imagine what would have gone down if my brother were at the store.

Back to Jason and Brendan. Things went south for my best friend the minute that I left my house because when I returned with the video game, the house was a complete disaster. Okay, I am stretching the truth a bit. The home was not a mess...but Jason was.

Poor Jason. You should have seen him. He was covered from head to toe with mustard and feathers. Of course, I was in shock, and the first thing that came out of my mouth was what the heck he was doing.

"Is this your lame attempt at being a chicken?" I asked. I was joking, but at the same time, I was being serious.

He was out of breath and hid behind me. "Do you actually think that this was my idea, Brandon? Do you think that I wanted mustard and feathers on me?"

"Who or what are you hiding from?"

"Now who else is in your home besides us?"

I spun around and rested my hands on his shoulders. "Are you implying that my brother did this to you?"

"Ding, ding, ding! Give the man a prize."

"My brother who is younger than we are put mustard and white feathers on you?"

"Yes, Brandon. You have to believe me. He had this look of pure evil on his face and even stated that he would make my life a living heck."

I pulled my hands away from his shoulders. "Let us say that he used mustard and fake feathers. Where did he get them? 'Cause there is no mustard or feathers in this house."

That day changed my perspective on Brendan. It took me almost a week to believe Jason, and I apologized deeply for leaving him alone with that monster. He said that there was no need for an apology and added that it was not my fault that Brendan fooled me for so long.

Victoria's eyes bulged from their sockets. "He actually did that to you?"

"I know, right?" he replied. His body shivered. "I still have nightmares about it. That is why I do not visit Brandon's house anymore because I know that..." He pointed a finger at Brendan. "...he will be there."

Brendan was waving his hands and arms in the air. "Hey! Are we going to get this show on the road? Or are you going to keep spitting out rumors about me?"

When he said that sentence, I balled my hands into fists, and my blood boiled. He knew better. My friend and I were not spreading rumors about him. We were only telling the truth, and yes, it was necessary to recall the evil deeds that he put us through. We were just warning Victoria what she was getting herself into.

"Woah!" I cried out as I took a big jump back. I had dodged a meteorite that was on fire and had crashed on the ground.

Jason pointed at the meteorite. "Dude. That is a meteorite."

"I know that." I placed my hands on my hips and lifted my eyes to the sky. "I hope that there are no more."

"Oh, there will be more," Victoria stated.

"How do you know?" I challenged.

She took a look at her wristwatch. "It is that time again. Territory of Terror's volcano is erupting."

"Um, do you not know that meteors come from space?"

"Normal meteors come from space. The meteorite that you successfully dodged is from the park's volcano. It is a special volcano because it spits out sparkles and meteors."

"Where is the volcano?" Jason asked her.

Victoria motioned to the volcano that was not far from us.

Jason scratched the top of his head. "How come we did not notice that before?"

Brendan clapped his hands to get our attentions. "Guys. We should run for our lives."
