Chapter Thirty-Seven

We were in an opening of the woods. The opening was necessary because that was where the temple was. The temple was purple and had a small staircase that led to the closed double doors. Despite the fact that such a building was gigantic, it displayed only one room. The purple stone was in that room.

"What an amazing temple," Derek complimented. "Reminds me of the pyramids in the real world."

"Funny that you should say that," Bridget commented. "This temple was actually inspired by the pyramids, as well as other architectures that reside within the real world. In my opinion, Forlot's temple is a better architecture than what the real worlders have."

"Since that you are the guardian of the temple, you must know who built it," I stated.

"How can I know something that has not yet been discovered? I do not know who built this temple. Actually, I take that back. I know that the person who was responsible was a Lubriem."

"'Lubriem'?" I repeated. "Seems like that I have heard that word before."

"You should, Daniel. All Forlot characters should have knowledge of the Lubriem. Most of us, like me, have no clue as to who the Lubriem is. The only things that have been confirmed were that the Lubriem was a girl and that she was a child."

"Um, Bridget? That is nice information and all, but could you explain to me what a Lubriem is? I have only heard the term twice."

This was the story of the Lubriem. A Lubriem is a person from the real world who is half real and half fictional. The young girl who was referred as the Lubriem had been the only one to exist and turned her back on the real world when it needed her the most. She faked her death so that the people called the real worlders would leave her in the past and move on with their lives. That may have been her intention, but it sadly backfired.

Her fake death led to real worlders performing evil deeds and rioting on the streets. The reason why her "death" caused so much outrage remained a mystery.

The Lubriem was not oblivious at what laid in front of her. The deeds and riots would easily end if she had just revealed herself and admitted the truth. Surprisingly and weirdly enough, she decided that it was not worth it and ignored them since then. She did not desire the real worlders to act like freaking animals, but that was the path that they chose. She had always desired to be separated from the real worlders and was not about to be with them again.

The Lubriem was done with the real worlders and prayed that they were done with her. She was not a part of their wicked world and did not care what happened to them.

"Gee. That was dark," I said. "Why did she give the real worlders the cold shoulder?"

"The Lubriem believed that they were useless beings," Bridget answered. "I am probably a bad character for saying this, but I agree with her. If they pollute the planet, what good are they?"

"Ow!" Ariana cried. She hunched over and put a hand on her lower back. "My back."

I grew worried for my true love, wrapped an arm around her, and allowed her to lean on me. "I think that is enough chattering for one night. Ariana has waited long enough for the cure."

I helped her to the double doors with Derek and Bridget following. I practically had to push her up the stairs, and man, it was not easy. Almost makes me want to be a ghost like Derek so that I will have the ability to fly. Almost.

Old Ariana and I reached the top of the stairs and walked to the purple doors. I put my palm on one of the doors and attempted to shove it. Alas, it would not budge.

Bridget could not help but giggle. "Silly Daniel. Not just any human or ghost can get in. The guardian is the only one who can unlock these." With that, she stretched out her arm and rested it on the door that I had tried to open.

Derek and I watched as the door glowed white and made a ding! sound. Both doors then slid up, and Bridget gestured for the rest of us to follow her.

The four of us scrambled inside and took a gander at what the temple had been hiding this whole time. Both the floor and walls were purple, and there were candles on yellow stands and lit in every corner. Across from us was a small, purple table, and on top of that table was a yellow and red box.

"Are there booby traps in here?" Derek asked Bridget.

"Just one." She pointed at herself. "Me."

"That is good news to hear," I said.

Bridget offered to fetch the purple stone and flew to the box. She unlocked it, opened it, and pulled out an object that was the size of a pair of human hands. She flew back to us and warned that it would be a bit heavy. She dropped the stone in my hands, and I caught it with no problem and faced Ariana.

"Ariana," I said softly. "I need you to do something for me."

Old Ariana glared at me. "I am not shaving your legs until you shave mine."

"Nobody is shaving anybody's legs. What I want you to do is to hold out your hands."

She did so slowly, but her thumbs and fingers were coiled.

"Uncoil your fingers and thumbs."

"Why? Are you going to slap my hands with a ruler?"

"No. I am giving you a present."

"Please tell me that it is tofu."

"It is better than tofu."

I set the stone in her palms. First, the stone glowed. Then, Ariana glowed. Young Ariana was back.

"Welcome back, Ariana," I said.
