THE SERIES FINALE | 14
Whilst Monica banged on the window, Juniper was doing her daily life contemplation. How to make life better, huh? Well, maybe don't commune with the dead, they make for terrible company.
"Don't waste your breath, babe." Pietro called up to the woman, as he held his guitar. "No one can hear you from in here." He began to play.
Juniper crossed her legs, flinching as he strummed the guitar dramatically. Yea she was aware that was stupid, but in her defence she didn't expect it.
Monica looked at him, then her new companion. She went to make a move, running to make an exit.
Oh, what a silly thing to do.
Pietro assumed such moves were to happen, stood before speeding to stand right in front of her. Stopping Monica from exiting. Juniper let out a quiet 'boo' towards the fake man, acting as though she were watching a pantomime.
He flicked the woman and she went flying.
Juniper looked at Monica, a tight lip smile and shrugged. She watched at the woman held her arm and moved to sit up on the single person chair.
Pietro had begun to make something — possibly a smoothie or milkshake or maybe a slushie or something of the sorts — in his blender.
"What is this stuff?" Monica asked. Her eyes and her face showed mere disgust.
"This is my man-cave." He leaned back on the table of sorts, holding his blender. "A place to chillax, you know, while the missus is stirring up trouble."
Monica looked around, her eyes landing on a pile of papers. She slipped one of the papers out of the pile and Juniper moved to sit on the arm of the chair.
Curiosity killed the cat, but satisfaction brought it back.
Pietro had began to move from his place to where ever he really wanted to go.
"You two a fan of Steve Seagal?"
The girls ignored him as he turned to face them.
Monica placed the paper down, flicking through the others.
Noticing that they were ignoring him, he turned around again.
Monica found exactly what she wanted, an A4 piece of paper with his face and name.
Juniper looked between the picture and the back of the blond man's head, as she silently chuckled, a smirk on her face as she brushed back her pale blonde and blue hair.
"Agnes doesn't live here."
"Ralph Bohner does."
Pietro turned back to them after dropping something or another.
"You're Ralph Bohner?"
"Bohner." The man chucked, leaving no proper answer as he turned back to what he was doing.
Monica began to push herself up of the chair in a curious filled wonder. She glanced back at Juniper, who gave her an encouraging nod. "How is she controlling you?"
Pietro — wait no Ralph fucking Bohner! — turned to her, bringing his hands up, mocking a boxing match. "You wanna tussle again?"
"Sorry, Monica, have your moment and all, but bids?" Juniper looked up at the woman with a hopeful grin.
"Go for it." The other lady said, gesturing her up.
Juniper stood up, her hands in her hoodie pocket. "Natasha Romanoff, I constant." She said, eyes closed as she conjured the red head Avenger.
Natasha smirked at the younger one, and in a matter of seconds floored Ralph.
He was shocked as his back touched the ground.
"Natasha Romanoff, I do not consent." The girl said, watching as the blue tinted girl turned to her usual grey tinted translucent body.
Monica kneeled down, placing a leg over Ralph to keep him down and stable. Her eyes flashed blue as she stared a the necklace. In a quick motion, she grabbed it and yanked it off.
And with that Ralph was in a sudden panic. Juniper helped Monica up, as the man begged them to spare his life.
"Nice to meet you Ralph." Monica said, looking down at the bloke.
"Twins first?" Juniper asked. Monica nodded as the dead Avenger helped Ralph up off the floor. She patted the bloke on the chest. "Well, nice meeting you, have a good life, huh?"
And with that the two women left poor Ralph Bohner alone.
•••
Monica and Juniper had a fun time chasing around the area searching for the Maximoffs, especially the ten year olds.
Juniper maybe dead, but she was not about to loose her nephews like this.
They soon found them, the military or SWORD — take you pick — aiming guns at the boys.
"Stand down!" Monica yelled as they ran over. Monica stood in front of the boys and Juniper moved them to be protectively at her side.
The main blokes bullets went through Monica's chest, yellow ripples around them. Her eyes yellow as she protected herself and the children.
Juniper screwed her eyes tight, conjuring the dead up for a barrier around the boys. It was a god damn good job Wanda had forced Juniper to stay sober this whole time.
One passed the dead and Monica!
Fuck.
Fuck!
But no. Billy stopped it, hand held up as he stopped it with blue light surrounding his hands.
Hip hip hooray for magic, huh?
Monica turned her head back to the boy as Juniper placed a proud kiss to his head, her hands were shaking as she kept the dead standing.
He threw the bullet down.
The gun had no more, and Juniper smiled smugly.
"Nice tricks."
Juniper let go off the dead, allowing blue translucent bodies turn grey and translucent — but for her eyes only. No need to use that energy just yet.
"I like yours, too."
Juniper rested arms around her ( godsons / nephews ). She let out a dry laugh as she breathed heavily.
Ah fuck.
The adults looked as the bloke — Hayward she believed Monica had named him on their walk to Agnes' house, wait, sorry, Ralph Bohner's house — got into his car, tires screeching as she drove backwards.
He came to a stop and a van drive straight into him. "Have fun in prison." Came a cheery voice.
The boys, Monica and Juniper began to run over to Vision. The boys calling for him and the father crouched down to hold them.
Monica and Juniper glanced around.
"Are you ok, Jupiter?"
"Always, Billy." The girl said through heavy breaths, holding onto Monica for support.
It wasn't that she was weak, or was more that she hadn't used that much power or energy since god knows how long. And let's be real she isn't in her actual body, she's made from Wanda's mind, she didn't have her full strength or stamina or what not. Juniper didn't like conjuring loads of dead people because it hurt, one, two or three was fine, anything after that was too difficult on her.
They watched as Wanda and Agnes — or rather Agatha, as her mind seemed to scream at her — fight in the sky. Vision had tried to help but Wanda blasted him down.
He came to a stop looking at Jupiter in confusion.
"She needs to do it alone, for herself, and for us. For the people she loves, and she can't do that if we're up there, if she's unlocking more of her power, only god knows how strong she is, she could hurt one of us and she'd never forgive herself for that. Because Wanda has too much love to give and never enough to receive."
Juniper had enough of her breath back to stand up on her own, but out of worry and concern Tommy and Billy stood either side off her. She chuckled and ruffled their hair.
It went on for a little while. Red blasts and what not littering the sky. And soon enough runes.
Juniper cheered for her best friend, clapping her hand with a giddy smile as she looked back at Wanda's real twin, watching his proud smile. She nodded at Pietro, he nodded back.
Talk about glory.
Red was absorbed into Wanda.
And with great power comes a great outfit change.
Juniper had one word. Hot. Maybe a few. Her best friend looked fucking glorious.
Wanda and Agatha slowly descended to the ground. Allowing glory to surround Wanda and defeat take place on Agatha.
Agatha landed on the ground in a huddle. It was very elegant. She panted as she pushed herself up, brushing her hair out of her face as Wanda landed in front of her.
"Good girl." Agatha said, shaking her head slightly.
The twins looked at Juniper, noticing she was looking a bit more perky and placed themselves at Vision's sides, letting him put his arms around them.
"So, what now?" She pushed herself up some more. "You just gonna lock me up somewhere?"
"No." Wanda said, shaking her head down at Agatha. "Not 'somewhere'." She said, holding her silence for a few seconds. "Here."
"Here?" Agatha repeated through heavy breaths.
Wanda made a noise of agreement, confirming Agatha's words. "I'll give you the role you chose." She told the woman. "The nosy neighbour." Wanda said as she took stepped closer to Agatha, giving her a look. It was down sort of 'you deserve it' look.
Agatha watched her in confusion before realisation ran over her mind and nonetheless her body. "No, please." She began to beg.
Wanda wasn't about to give her as she pleased. Agatha had caused some distress, and that was not good.
"I'm sorry."
"No, you're not. You're cruel." Wanda ignored her and took her final steps forward. "You, you have, you have no idea what you've unleashed. You're gonna need me."
"If I do, I know where to find you." And with that Wanda's hand slowly came to touch Agatha's, ignoring her pleas.
Soon enough Agatha's classic witchy style was replaced with mundane clothing.
Wanda smiled at the smiley, nosey and unknowing neighbour.
"Hiya, hon." She said cheerfully, her eyes eyes rolled down Wanda's body taking in her marvellous outfit. "Say, that's some kinda getup you're wearing." She giggled slightly. "Did I leave the oven on, or is that just you, hot stuff?"
"You live here now." Wanda said, head tilted slightly. "No one will ever bother you."
"Okey dokey, artichokee."
The once neighbours smiled at each other, as Wanda began to turn around. Having second thoughts, Wanda glanced back over her shoulder.
"I'll be seeing you, Agnes."
"Not if I see you first, hon."
Agatha or Agnes or whatever, had game, Juniper just had to admire such work.
"Mom!" The boys called, racing over as Wanda made her way to them, slowly but gracefully.
Wanda chuckled and held them close, placing kisses to their heads and answering their pesky 'are you okay' question.
Vision too made his way over, Juniper following suit.
"So, it would appear that out dream home had need reduced to a fixer-upper." Vision and Wanda glanced around. "I know you'll set everything right, just not for us."
Wanda smiled at her best friend and husband. "No, not for us."
"I'm proud of you." Juniper said, placing a hand in Wanda's cheek, pulling her slightly closer so she could place a kiss to her forehead.
"It's time, should we head home?"
"Yeah."
Wanda and Monica shared a glance, smile and a nod as the Maximoffs and Juniper went home. The blue and pale blonde haired girl called back a goodbye, receiving one back.
The walls of Westview broke down and sat turned to night as they walked home, gong through the door as Wanda and Vision changed to their on street faces/ clothes.
The parents put the twins to bed and Juniper leaned against the doorway, watching with soft eyes.
She was so close to dying again, so close to putting Wanda through grief. But she was ok with it, because she had to be.
What is grief of not love?
What is grief, if not love preserving?
This time, they were sure to get a goodbye — a proper one, not a note but a hug and words.
She didn't listen, her eyes watering slightly as she over heard a few words, but not enough to intrude. This was her family, this was who she loved and who she was.
"Goodnight, Tommy, Billy, I'm so proud of you." She told them.
"Goodnight, JJ."
"Goodnight, Jupiter."
The parents and children shared their final goodbyes and good nights, including the very emotional 'thanks for choosing me to be your mom'.
Tommy and Billy smiled at her.
The three adults left, shutting the door behind them.
Juniper didn't go downstairs with them, she stayed on the hallway at first and wrapped her arms around Wanda, holding her best friend close.
"Thank you, so much. For everything you have ever done, hell, thank you for bringing me back and letting me be apart of their lives and yours." Juniper said, the water beginning to leave her eyes as her and Wanda leaned back to look at each other.
Wanda shook her head, tears gathering in her eyes. "I'm sorry, for not noticing —"
"Wanda, I was first diagnosed at eighteen, I knew how to hide it, I don't blame you and you shouldn't either."
They held each other close once again.
"I love you." Wanda whispered. "I'm proud of you."
"I love you." Juniper whispered back. "I'm proud of you for this, for managing this and for being strong enough to let go." She said holding Wanda tighter. "We'll meet again, I don't know where, I don't know when, but goodbye will become hello, okay?"
Wanda nodded against Juniper.
"I'll be at your side, dead or alive, feel free to talk to the air, if I'm around and able to I'll give you an answer, one way or another." Juniper promised.
The two let go and Juniper turned to Vision. She held her arms out and Vision looked at her with a sad smile. "You know you want to."
He chuckled before wrapping his arms around Juniper, their goodbyes going silent, for their next hello was as soon as the the red walls destroyed the remaining family.
To think she'd never understand the memories, or who the hell Ralph Bohner truly was. Maybe it was for the best she didn't understand them, but for whatever the reason was, she was glad to have even had the chance to be in Wanda's makeshift reality.
