BREAKING THE FOURTH WALL | 11

Juniper woke up the next day, slipping away from her nephew, grabbing her jumper, pulling it over her head as she made her way down the stairs.

Oh, how yesterday had been eventful.

Juniper cracked her bones, grabbed a can of cherry cola and an apple. Apple a day, keeps the doctor away. She grabbed a pad of paper and a pen and sat on the sofa.

The girl scribbled what came to mind. Pictures, words and doodles included. Was this becoming a common exercise? Yes. As decided for as long as it took for her to develop all her memories she'd scribble, draw and write.

Tommy and Billy had come down at some point, Juniper didn't pay to much attention. Then they had rushed upstairs only ten minutes later. They were back not to long later.

Juniper snapped her notepad shut, before getting up and into the kitchen. She made her nephews breakfast confused as things seemed to glitch, like the games and the milk. Curiouser and curiouser. It soon stopped as she put it in the bowls.

"Jupiter?"

"Billy?"

"Why is my head really loud, am I going insane?"

"You're fine, I presume your like your mom, telepathy, you're hearing people's thoughts." She told him, placing a kiss to his head before finally taking a bite into her apple.

She caught her reflection, noticing her hair was no longer pink. How rude. It was back to its whitish blonde colour, but with blue streaks. She shrugged it off.

The boys ate their breakfast and Juniper took the bowls to the sink, cleaning them whilst ignoring their bickering.

Soon enough Wanda came and blessed them with her presence. She looked tired, to say the least. She ignored the boys, walking straight to the kitchen. She grabbed herself the milk and cereal.

Again, it glitched. Changing its brand.

Juniper looked from it too Wanda. She gathered her best friend wasn't okay.

The boys shared a look, Billy shrugging in concern.

Juniper moved from the kitchen and into the living room, grabbing her notepad to continue writing. She took a seat next to the twins on the sofa.

"Have you seen your dad?" Wanda asked, a bowls of cereal in hand.

"Um, no."

Billy looked over at his mom. "Do you wanna go look for him?" He asked softly.

Wanda shrugged it off. A lack of care in her tone and body posture. It wasn't that she didn't care, she cared to much that she was tired of it. "Well, if he doesn't wanna be here, there's nothing I can do about it."

Wanda grabbed the remote, turning off he game and putting on the news. Tommy looked at in disgust.

"Hey, mom, last night, Uncle P said that thing about re-killing dad?" Billy started, Tommy now looking from to tv with the same concern and interest.

"Don't believe anything that man said. He is not your uncle."

"Who is he?"

Juniper placed a hand on Tommy's shoulder giving it a squeeze before carrying on with her notes.

Wanda let out a breath like laugh, taking a second for herself. She placed her bowl down on the coffee table and brought her hands together. "Here's the thing boys, I'm your mom, and as such, you were counting on me to have all the answers, right?" She chuckled. The boys nodded and Juniper looked at her with furrowed brows. "Well, I don't." She told them. Tommy and Billy's face expressions mimicked Juniper's. "I have no answers." She laughed in disbelief. "Zip. Zero. Zilch. I'm starting to believe that everything is meaningless."

"Life's a simulation, huh?" Juniper whispered to herself, chuckling slightly.

"I mean you're welcome to draw your own conclusions, of course, but that's just where I'm at."

Billy turned to Tommy then to Juniper.

Juniper was still looking at Wanda with a mix of 'I get that' 'what the actual fuck' and 'should I get you a therapist'.

Wanda sat between the boys and Juniper moved to the arm of the chair. They weren't the Maximoff's and Lea for long as a knock at the door interrupted them — which was answered with Wanda's magic.

Juniper turned to her with wide eyes. Hadn't they agreed to keep it a secret? She truly was worried about her best friend.

"Hi, Agnes! Come on in." She called back. "I'd get up, but I just don't want to." She gave the 'I've give up on life' laugh.

Agnes looked concerned at the boys before catching eyes with Juniper.

'Help' the practically white and blue haired girl mouthed.

"Hey, boys, why don't we give your mommy some 'me' time?" Agnes asked the twins.

They didn't look to impressed but Wanda was over the moon.

"Agnes? Are you sure?" She whispered out as her sons turned to look at her.

"Oh, abso-positively." Agnes promised. "And I'll leave Juniper here, just in case."

Wanda put her hands over her mouth as though she had opened the best Christmas present in the world.

"Come on, let's go, guys." Agnes said, gesturing for the boys to get up.

"Do we have to, mom, can't we stay with JJ?" Tommy asked.

"I'm gonna look after your mom." She whispered to Tommy as he got up.

"Just go with Agnes." Wanda told her sons.

"I promise I won't bite." Agnes chuckled.

The twins didn't seem to believe that. The twins looked back at their aunt for safety, begging her to say she'll take them out but instead she shook her head. She mouthed a 'sorry' as she watched their dreaded looks.

As much as Juniper wanted to take them by the hands and look after them herself, she knew her best friend needed her to be there for her. She knew her best friend need quietness and possibly someone to hold her, and Juniper was going to be that person.

"Agnes, you are a life saver." Wanda praised, looking at the woman as though she were god.

Absolute slander, Juniper was better then Agnes. Again, she will not take criticism.

Juniper put down her pad of paper, coming to sit next to Wanda, placing her hands on her best friends shoulders hand giving them a squeeze.

"Aw."

"Is there anything I can do for you?" She asked, happily enjoying Junipers massage.

"You know what, I do have a suspicious mole on my back, that I just can't see." Agnes said, beginning to fiddle with her top. As she began to lift it Wanda gave her a 'ooookay' look. Agnes stopped upon noticing the Maximoffs and Junipers uncomfortableness. "Ah, boundaries, I get it." She proceeded to friendly punch Wanda's shoulder. "Say no more."

Billy and Tommy looked at the woman. Scared and startled. Where they about to be asked to see her mole?

Agnes followed the boys out talking to them as Juniper carried on giving her best friend a shoulder massage.

Upon the door shutting, Wanda smiled, and switched on the tv.

Juniper took her hands from her best friend, planting a kiss on her head before getting up, moving around to sort out little bits. She ignored the glitching and Wanda sorting it, mostly worrying about putting away the breakfast stuff.

Juniper glanced at Wanda, noticing her distress as she had stood and looked around at the things changing around her. The blonde and blue haired girl made her way over, grabbed the redheads hands.

"Hey, even if this is wrong, I'm so proud of you, I will
always be at your side, Wanda, dead or alive." Juniper whispered. Wanda looked at her, eyes showing pure sadness. "I am so proud of you and how far you've come, and no matter what I will always side with you. But Wanda, dear, dear Wanda, you need to let me go, you need to let us all go eventually." The last part was a mere whisper, Wanda barely caught the words. To be fair the redhead was more concerned about Juniper being proud of her.

Wanda pulled her hands out of Junipers and wrapped her arms desperately around her. The girl was quick to return it, holding her tight as she whispered sweet nothings in her ears.
