The After-Effect
Leila's P.O.V.
I woke up in a sweaty mess, propping myself up on with my hands behind me, I cautiously looked around me. One word running though my mind. Araceli. As my previous dreams came back to me, I felt all the emotions in the moment. As if.. As if they were real. Betrayal. Hurt. Agony. And most of all - the hostility I felt. I felt my breathing heighten as the images of the girl - Araceli - came back. I could feel the love that I had placed into those bandages as I fixed her cut. Then the fear that came afterwards. The betrayal, agony, and the way my heart felt all that... emotion that I can't even begin to describe in words as I heard my parents talk about me. In all the commotion, I accidentally woke up Wylie and Silva, who turned on the lamp next to her.
"Leila? Are you alright?" She asked, the click filling in the empty spaces. I only started to breath harder as the scenes replayed over and over again, causing some of the empty gaps to fill themselves in. I felt my heart pick up it's pace too and I began trembling, looking around at the scenery like crazy. Wylie quickly stood up, waking Jeff in the process.
"She's having a panic attack!" Wylie called throughout the room. "Get her a paper bag or something!"
"Alright!" Silva was out of the room in a dash. Wylie jumped onto the bed and placed his arm on my back in a comforting manor while my breathing hitched faster and faster by the minute.
"Leila, calm down. Everything's going to be okay." He said in a gentle voice, Jeff watching scared in the background by his surroundings. "I'm going to count to ten, okay. And with that I want you to breath in and out on eat number." I semi-nodded, still trembling with tears pricking my eyes and dots starting to appear.
"One.." He breathed in and did my best to do as he told me, but I couldn't and still trembled. "Two.." He breathed out. He continued counting on to ten, just as he promised, and I regained control of my breathing again. As my vision regained, Silva walked in the room with a glass. But she only gasped and dropped the cup to the floor, causing shards to fall everywhere. The dim lighting barely made the shards visible as she stood there staring at me, though all of our eyes were on her.
"What happened?" Jeff asked? Silva pointed an accusing finger at me.
"Her- Her eyes had a sliver of white in them!" She then grinned. "That's so awesome how'd you do that?" I was about to panic again when Wylie interfered.
"Silva, we can't do this right now. According to Web MD, we have to keep her in a safe surrounding until she is completely calm." I laughed lightly. But then looked down at my hands clutching at the sheets. When did that happen? The dreams just felt so real. There is no way they were just some random dreams I had. "Are you alright, Leila?" Wylie asked, pulling me out of my thoughts. I nodded.
"It's five in the morning and I am way too awake to go back to bed no- OW!" Silva screeched as she stepped on a broken glass shard. Jeff face-palmed.
"Seriously? You dropped it in under a minute again." Jeff told her. Wylie removed his hand from my back, leaving a trace of warmth behind. I slowly got up from the bed and helped Silva sit on the edge of it, careful to avoid any shards.
"Is there a fist-aid kit anywhere?" I asked in soft voice. She nodded slightly and pointed to the closet. After Jeff and Wylie were done picking up all the glass - and cleaning the mess from the spilled water - and I was done bandaging Silva's foot, we all knew that we would not be able to get to bed anytime soon. So, Silva pulled out Monopoly.
"Ah, the game for destroying friendships." Jeff smiled, rubbing his hands together. I laughed lightly at this, not really feeling up to the mood to do anything. Should I even tell them? Or confront Hoodie or Luna about it?
"Leila, are you sure you're okay?" Silva asked, concern clear in her voice.
"Yeah, why?" I said gently.
"Because it's your turn for one, and you've been staring at the same spot on the floor for a while."
"Oh, uh, yeah. It's just..." I looked down again, feeling everyone's eyes staring at me. "I-I don't know if I should stay any longer.. It's just... And..." I sighed and felt a hand on my shoulder. i looked up to see Silva looking at me with worry-filled eyes.
"Hey, it's alright. If you want to go home, we completely understand." I smiled slightly at her.
"Yeah, I can drop you off." Jeff chimed in.
"Thanks, but I'm going to walk home." I said, standing up and gathering my things.
"What? Nonsense! It's dark outside!" Wylie exclaimed.
"It's alright, I do this all the time. Plus, I need some time alone right now." I lied. I pulled out the phone from my bag. "Oh yeah, I got a phone." I mumbled mostly to myself.
"Really? Here, we'll put our numbers in your phone and you can call you whenever you get home." Just before I went to bed last night, I somehow managed to delete all the contacts in the phone. "Oh, neat. You have an IPhone 4." Silva said as she placed her number into my phone. she passed it around and one by one I had three new contacts in my phone, well three contacts in total placed in my phone.
After our goodbyes, I quickly left. Finding my way back to the mansion. I couldn't help but feel guilty for ditching out on them. I just didn't feel like me. Everything felt strange. The breeze blowing gently on me causing my hair to flow behind me. The backpack that Luna got for me swaying slightly with every step I made. The mini-spellbound equipment I felt in my pocket with every step. The small orbs of light that shone every other way as I walked down each sidewalk. The moon's light shining down brightly, dominating over the sun at this moment. The man who I was forced to kill with a rock when he tried to attack me when I passed by an alley. Everything just felt beyond surreal.
Has everything I've known so far been a complete, white lie? There could not have been anyway that those were just dreams. I stopped abruptly in my tracks as another image flashed across my vision. This time I was at a table with the people who were my parents on each side of me and Araceli sitting at the other end of the table. In front of her was a white-iced cake with the number '8' on it with a fire on it's tip. My 'mother' was holding a camera while my 'father' looked proudly at my sister. Araceli looked full of bliss, though when she blew the candle out a second later, the entire room went dark.
I could not keep having these. This was only the beginning of it, that means it was only bound to get worse. I could tell any of my school friends about this, it might expose me being a pasta. I could either tell Luna or Hoodie However, i couldn't tell both because that could increase the risk.
Okay, Pro's and Con. Luna. Pro: Has always been there for me in my time of need since being in the mansion. Con: Is probably really mad at me in this moment. Hoodie: Pro: Is really nice and sweet and easy to talk to. Like Luna except for those mood swings he had back then. Con: Possibility of telling Slender. No that won't work. Luna can also tell Slender. Alright, Con: May get upset at me, still pretty unpredictable.
As I was going through the pro's and con's list in my head, I knew who the obvious answer is. It was-
(A/N: So this was only suppose to be a short chapter, but I really got into it. Anyways -IMPORTANT THINGY- I decided to hold a voting for this book. You know, let the readers get into it as well. So, comment if you want Leila to tell Luna or Hoodie. I know y'all might not comment too much, but everyone is appreciated and it always gets me so excited whenever I see a new comment on one of my chapters. Thank you all for reading and commenting, it means a lot to me!
Also, I got the idea from @shado48 (WattPad) When I was thinking about one of the chapters in her book, My Friend. (no spoilers) I recommend reading her books, I absolutely love them and she is a great writer! Once again, thank you all for reading and commenting, it means a lot to me!)
