~Chestnut Eyes~

A mind wants to forget, but a heart always remembers.

"Patient 231!" My personal guard called as my door was slammed open; causing me to flinch. Everyone here has a personal guard for our protection, but mine has found ways to torment me.

"Tine for your monthly checkup! It's your 24th month!"

'Have I really been here that long?'

I slowly get to my feet and trudged towards the door. I kept my head down as the cold metal of the cuffs were tightened around my wrists.

I followed the guard down the dark grey hallways; passing by other cells full of others like me.

People who've forgotten.

Most of the cells were silent. But a few of the cells held screaming from its inhabitant. Those people have gone insane from not remembering.

I wish I could remember who I was. Maybe then I would know who to join. Who to act like.

"Stop." My guard said as we approached the double doors of the checkup room. My cuffs were removed and I'm pushed towards the doors.

"Go in."

I slowly responded and eventually mustered the power to push open the doors and walk in, internally wincing as the doors banged shut behind me.

The checkup room was this big white room full of what I think were medical tools. At least that is what I hoped. In the back left corner of the room sat a large glass tube full of water. I shivered at the sight of the tube and began to hyperventilate as I stood there staring at it.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Water had me trapped in its clutches; and the cold walls of my glass prison kept me cut off from the rest of the world.
"How is he doing?" A muffled voice asks as two blurry figures enter the vision of my half-lidded eyes.
"Patient 231 is responding well to the treatment. No troubles so far."
I hear myself say mutter something into the breathing mask; gaining the attention of the two in front of the the glass cylinder.
"Who is #$%#%#?" I hear the first voice ask.
'He said a name... who's name? Is it mine? Is it some elses? Is it someone I should know?'
"I don't know sir." The second voice replies.
"Alright. Whoever #$%#%# is, make sure  patient 231 doesn't remember them."
The voices then trailed off as my vision went black...
~~~~~~~~

My breathing was all over the place when my eyes open. The ceiling of the checkup room started down at me as I lay on the cold floor.

"They're right..." I mutter, thinking about the people who think the doctors are taking our memories. "They're taking our message..."

The slam of the doors quickly brought me to my feet; fear coursing through my veins.

"Ah good morning Patient 231!" Doctor Zambona chirped as he shuffled into the room behind a large, metallic cart piled with tools. I gulped as my hands began to shake.

"G-good morning Doctor Zambona." I replied quietly; just like how he wanted.

"Ready for your checkup?" He asks me as he pats the bed in the middle of the room.

I slowly nod as I stumble to the bed and lay down; having to cover my eyes from the bright light above.

"So how have you been?" The Doctor asked as he began to play with his medical instruments. "Any recovered memories?"

'I can't tell him.' I thought to myself. 'If I tell him I remember them taking my memories...'

"N-no sir..." I mutter; trying to sound as sad as possible.

"Aw that's too bad." He said as he began the procedure. "Maybe before our next checkup you'll remember something."

"Yeah..." I whisper as Doctor Zambona straps me down to the bed by my wrists and ankles.

"Alright. Let us begin the procedure."

I took a deep breath as the Doctor placed a breathing mask over my nose and mouth.

"You may feel a small tickle of discomfort as I start up the machine. Remember this is normal."

I nod as I slowly begin to drift off; waiting for the discomfort to come.

But it surprisingly never came. A large book from outside shook the facility, and causing the alarm to blare.

"Sir!" My guard shouted as he ran into the room; my drowsiness muffling his speech. "There's a breach in sector 18! The prisoners are escaping!"

"Who set off the explosion?!" Doctor Zambona screeched.

My guard quickly ran over with a glass tablet and held it in for us to see. I could barely make out the five figures on the security camera as they ran down the hallway; acting like they were looking for something.

"And they aren't alone." My guard said as he rewound the footage outside.

The five from before stood in front of the large walls of the facility. Five other figures stood around them; each holding tnt in their hands.

But I didn't pay much attention to them. All of my focus was on the tall male in front of everyone. He had light brown hair, with ears and a tail to match. He wore a black suit and a bright red tie.

What struck me though, were his facial features. His light pink lips were fixed into a snarl as he glared at the wall. His oddly shaped nose was crinkled in anger. And his eyes...

They were the eyes. The one that haunted me day and night. In every dream and nightmare. The ones I longed to put a name to...

Those chestnut colored eyes...

~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Come on you can do better than that!" He exclaimed as my sword collided with his axe.
I hear myself laugh.
"I'm just getting started biggums!"
'Biggums? Is that his name?'
I watched as we fought against each other. But, we were laughing. This couldn't be a real fight if we were laughing and joking around right?
"Getting tired yet?" He asked as we stopped for a second to catch out breath.
"Hell no! You?" I smirked at his as he grinned.
"I'm just getting started!" He locked as we collided yet again.
Only this time it ended up different.
Soon I was pinned to the ground; my sword out of my reach. He hovered above me, a grin on his face as he kept a light grip on my wrists. He stared down at me with those haunting eyes.
"Yay I win!" He chuckled happily. "And now for my prize!"
That's when he leant down and connected our lips in a passionate kiss. I felt myself kiss back as we shared this moment. His lips were warm, a hint of raw fish on him.
We eventually pulled back and he smiled at me.
"I love you Mitch." He whispered.
'Mitch? Is that my name?'
"I love you too $#%#%#." I said, his named muffled out yet again.
'Mitch...'
'My name is Mitch...'
'Not patient 231...'
'Mitch...'
'Mitch...'
"MITCH!!"
'Huh?'
I feel hands shaking me, and multiple voices calling out what I think is my name.
"Huh?" I mutter as my eyes flutter open.
Immediately I'm face to face with the man from the security cameras and the memory I had just witnessed.
"Mitch!" He exclaimed as happiness filled those chestnut colored eyes. "You're okay!"
"Who are you?" I ask, his expression turning to shock.
"Mitch? How do you not know me?" He asks quietly, tears starting to fill those eyes of his.
"I remember kissing you..." I whisper.
"Why do I remember kissing you?"
