Begining
Wearing a thick white towel robe, a young woman sat before a mirror.
She was doing her hair; currently braiding the last cornrowing of her coarse afro hair.
She huffed loudly in relief as she finished her task, she dropped her hands and arms, relaxing into the chairs back.
From her slouch position, she gazed into the mirror before her; casually, she leaned forward and examined her face; choosing to vigorously rub and attempt to flatten out the dark and puffy sag under her eye.
"Knock knock" a man spoke as he pushed open the door and popped his head around the corner.
The woman kept quiet and chose to continue massaging her under eye.
"Shawna!" the man barked abruptly before choosing to push the door open and make his way in and towards her.
"What Ste'?" she bit back.
"Thought you were in a trace there, why didn't you answer me?" a tall tracksuit wearing bald man asked in a friendly manner.
"I just want a bit of time" she replied.
"Well you need to be more organised if that's..."
"Don't!" Shawn interrupted as she spun around to face him.
"But we've got..." he started only to get interrupted again.
"You've been here five minutes, you know nothing" she claimed before continuing...
"And, don't worry, I'm the most organised one here"
"You're wasting time! Why can't you just, leave all that to a stylist?" he impatiently asked.
"Not me style" she said.
"We discussed this earlier" he claimed.
"Yeah, and I'm not interested" she replied.
"Well, you'll have to be, otherwise you lets yourself and you little sister down, now hurry up" Ste snapped.
"I already said I'm not going" she said as she twiddled the last braid she had completed "and they're popular enough for the three of us"
"Oh come on, you have to" he pleaded.
"Note, I don't" she replied.
"You know what!" Ste muttered under his breath in exasperation as he shuck his head and turned around; leaving the room with a deliberate slam of the door.
Shawna smirked; as if victorious.
She rose from her seat and moved over to a king-sized bed; she dived into it in an over the top, joyous display.
She stretched and spread out, resembling a starfish.
Two young female in matching red, fairly revealing swimming costumes and faux, big and long caramel hair sat at a poolside, feet lay still in the water.
The pair were busy starring at their mobile phones, now and then swiping at the screens.
"You two are suppose to be training" a bare foot, track suited older woman yelled as she moved towards them.
The two girls looked up in union at the older woman, fully revealing their matching faces...
"We've got messages to read" one answered with sass.
"And to answer" the other added in a slow, mellow tone.
"Forget that nonsense, this is work" the older woman retorted as she moved closer to them.
The girls frowned towards the woman as she approached them, they chose to stand and walk away before she managed to get too close.
Ste walked with Shawna down an echo rich hallway.
"I swear, doors just opened for her" Ste said.
"All because if a few photo's?" Shawna asked sceptically.
"Well, it's not quite that simple" Ste answered.
"Seems that way for them"
"Your sisters are doing really well for themselves" he replied "you see, it's a combination of talent and popularity - they're more popularity"
"Helps that they're pretty" Shawna claimed.
"Girl! They're no prettier than you, they got the twin novelty down but give you a makeover and your star will rise too" Ste claimed.
Shawn looked forward with a slight puzzled expression on her face.
"But you gotta ensure you can do you job too, they can do it, but you can do it better, so you're a different brand, one that's more talent over popularity" Ste relayed enthusiastically.
"I'm fine with that" she claimed.
"Well, all we need to do is work on boosting your popularity, then the worlds your oyster - Olympics, teaching, or lie ins like this morning" Ste ordered.
"You are joking! You try a three hour swim in the river and see how exhausted you are" she stated.
"When did that ever happen?" Ste asked.
"Early this morning, before you arrived" Shawna stated before she looked towards Ste "and most mornings" she added as she rushed through the doorway they had reached.
Ste looked on, perplexed.
The twins swam lengths in the pool, supervised by the older lady.
Shawna passed her...
"Hey mum" she chimed as she rushed past.
The older woman looked her way and went to respond, but Shawna was nowhere to be seen.
Ste passed her, which moved her into her line of vision...
"You!" she said in a raised voice.
Ste turned hesitantly to face her.
"You're supposed to be managing their social media, it's cutting into their training" she said as she pointed towards the swimming siblings.
"I, was suppose to tell you" he started nervously "that, managing their own accounts is quite good for their brand"
"What brand? They're athletes, not, shoes or, food" she responded.
"They're popular, this week alone they'll make a good few K showing up at parties" he offered.
"I don't care about their spare time, training is strictly training and they're slipping!" she yelled.
"It's hard to convince them to put those things down" Ste said in humour.
"You're paid to..."
The older woman stopped herself as she witnessed a swim suit clad Shawna dived in the pool without hesitation; quickly catching up to and passing the twins then making her way back before they completed the length they were on.
"You see Trudy, Shawna's the major talent in the family; she's the better athlete; good enough to carry the family brand professionally, whilst the twins are the better socialites, they can carry the brand publically" he almost whispered "you got a triple threat going on here"
