The Cherry Blossom Tree [40]
Days pass by, and Aya was still confined in the hospital. Seirin's upcoming game against Kirisaki Daichi was a few days away too. Yamato brought her videos of the Seirin's game and dared her to rest for the whole three days in order for her to attend the Kirisaki Daichi game.
"Oi, Nii-san, can I go somewhere?" Aya poked Yamato's cheek. He looked away from the magazine he was reading then at her. "No." was his response and looked back at the magazine. Aya pouted and crossed her arms. She glanced at her brother and whined. "BUT IT'S SO BORING HEREEEEE!!!"
"Aya, you know why I won't let you go out," Yamato replied.
Aya shook her head. "No, I don't know why." Yamato rolled his eyes and explained one by one why she wasn't allowed to go out.
"1. The doctor said you should rest."
"But--"
"2. You're very clumsy and accident proof."
"I'm not--"
"3. I don't trust you in going out alone."
"But if I go out with someone then you'll approve, yes?" Aya did an angelic look as Yamato sighed. "No." was still his answer making Aya pouted as Yamato got up from his seat and into the bathroom.
"Hmm..." she thought and grabbed her phone. She walked towards the door looking at the bathroom door. She was checking what was Yamato doing. "Haha, a potty!" she giggled and opened her hospital room door and quietly closed it.
"I guess I was a bit strict on her," Yamato thought as he read the magazine and did his "business" in on the toilet.. "Maybe I'll just call Tetsuya or Taiga to take her to the park or to the mall," he said to himself as he finished and zip his pants up.
He opened the door and saw an empty room. "AYA?!" he looked around her room and saw an empty bed. "HOLY CRAP"
"Phew!" Aya sprinted away from her room and out from the hospital to the city. She tried to avoid the people she encountered and bumped into some and she just muttered a 'sorry' to them and walk away fast. "Now, where am I supposed to go?" she rubbed her chin standing in front of a movie theater. "A theater huh?" she looked at the sign and remembered a scene of her past as she ran away from it.
"That's weird..." she muttered to herself. She passed by a river bank making memories return to her. "I think I know this place..." she said to herself and remembered certain events that happened making her blush. "No... it can't..."
Aya continued walking and happen by took the train to a certain town she has been before. It was the town where they watched Kaijo and Touou go against each other and where they also trained last time.
"Mush mush?" Taiga answered the call from Yamato while eating at the Maji Burger with Tetsuya with tons of hamburgers on his table.
"Taiga!!" Yamato exclaimed with a hint of worry on his voice. "Aya's missing!!! Help!!" he cried making Taiga's eyes widen and stood up from his seat.
"WHAT?!" he exclaimed catching Tetsuya's attention. "Okay, got it, we'll be on our way, we'll look for her" he hung up and didn't let Tetsuya ask, instead, he just drag him along with him.
"Kagami-kun, what's happening?" Tetsuya asked clueless of the situation.
Taiga stopped and faced him. "Your best friend! She's missing again!" he replied as Tetsuya's eyes narrowed and turned serious. "We have to find her," he announced and sprinted off with Taiga as they called the others and the GoM.
...
"Hello?" Daiki answered a call from Tetsuya while buying shoes with Momoi at the mall. The call catched Momoi's attention too as she listened to Daiki and Tetsuya's conversation. "What?! Okay, we'll be going!" he hung up and looked at Momoi with a worried expression. "Aya's missing"
"WHAT."
...
"Huh, Aominecchi why did you suddenly--" Ryota answered Daiki's call but was quickly cut off by him.
"WHERE ARE YOU?"
"I'm with Midorimacchi--"
"AYA'S MISSING."
"WHAT?!" he exclaimed. "O-Okay, I'll go call Murasakicchi and tell Midorimacchi," hanging up Shintaro immediately sighed and pushed his glasses up.
"Let me guess," Ryota looked at him. "She's missing again, isn't she?" he assumed as Ryota nodded his head. "Fine, let's go look for her. Call Atsushi so he could inform Akashi too."
Ring... Ring... Ring...
"What do you want now, Kiyoshi-san?" Akashi answered Teppei's call while on his way back to his house after attending a formal event that matters with his family's company. He was exhausted at that time so he wasn't in the mood in talking to Teppei.
"Aka-kun!"
"I said don't call me that."
"But Aya-kun calls you that too, why do you let her?"
"Well she's..."
"She's what?"
"...."
"I see," Akashi can imagine the smirk on Teppei's face by now. He hid his face in his hand and groaned in annoyance. "Anyway, why did you call?" he asked for the purpose of Teppei's disturbance.
"Oh yeah--oh crap!--ow!" he heard Teppei being smacked at the head. "Sorry Hyuga! I was lost in the whole "Aka-kun" thing," Akashi face palmed. "Yeah yeah I'll go tell him."
Akashi sighed. 'He reminds me of Yamato-san' he thought while waiting for Teppei's response.
"Anyway, Aka-kun!" Teppei snapped back to their conversation. 'I told him to stop calling me that'. "Aya-kun! She's missing!" This made Akashi's closed annoyed eyes shot open.
"What," his voice got louder sitting straight up.
"Y-Yeah, Yamato-san went to the bathroom for a few minutes and when he went out Aya was gone, do you know where should she gone to?" Akashi thought for a while, tapping his chin. "Aka--" he hung up.
He thought of the places where Aya could possibly run off to. But he failed miserably as he sank in his seat. During their middle school days, sometimes he hated her. She was the only person he couldn't read. He can't predict her decisions.
He suddenly thought of the cherry blossom tree where she once took him and the others in different times. He figured she'd be there so he asked the driver to drive him to that certain location.
...
Aya remembered a certain place that Shintaro has showed her. The Cherry Blossom Tree. She remembered the place where it was located and went there to see the beautiful sight again. Admiring the view, she didn't even notice her phone ringing because she was too captivated by the sight.
She sat under the cherry blossom tree and inhaled the fresh air that was surrounding her with her eyes closed. She was enjoying too much and didn't eve notice a presence behind her. "Aya" a voice called her making her open her eyes and blinked them
Turning her head, her purple eyes landed on a pair of heterochromatic eyes. She blinked realizing the person who owned those eyes were none other than Seijuro Akashi himself. It's been weeks since they last saw each other. Akashi's "cowardness" has overthrown him; this is the first time they met when Aya woke up from her coma.
"A-Akashi," she sputtered out his name as he cringed and relaxed and spoke.
"What are you doing out of the hospital?" he inquired taking a step forward. "Shouldn't you be resting? The doctor said you should be resting. Disobeying orders can put you--"
"Oh, so now you know what the doctors had told me. You didn't even enter my hospital room! You weren't there the entire time the doctors checked on me! you were too busy playing your "who can be the longest coward in the generation of miracles" game. Guess what? You won!"
"..."
Aya sighed and looked up at him with an annoy glare. "I hate you!" she started to punch her fist to his chest lightly and continuously without letting him feel any pain. Akashi just stared down at her sadly, letting her continue on what she was doing. He was startled as she stopped and leaned her forehead on her chest. "I want to remember my memories. I want to remember the times during middle school. With the generation of miracles. with my basketball. and with you. But still, I can't remember because--"
Akashi's eyes widened as she pulled her head back and slapped his face."You--!" She caught him by surprise letting him see the tears escaping her eyes. She wanted to hold them back but failed miserably. She sniffed and wiped her tears away. "You coward! why didn't you even visit me once?!"
Akashi closed his eyes and reopened them and pulled Aya into a warm hug. "I'm sorry..." he apologized, pulling her closer.
She was blushing at the moments, her eyes widened as she felt the comfort in Akashi's arms. She hugged back enjoying the moment with him; a smile creeping onto her lips. "Idiot..."
...
"Did he call back?" Junpei asked Teppei who was now trying to contact Akashi again.
"No," Teppei looked at his phone miserably after failing an attempt to have contact with Akashi again. "Man, he really needs to learn the value of having a phone. Missing important calls is a big case."
"Sigh, let's just go and find the others, maybe they found her," Riko suggested as the three of them went to the Maji Burger meeting up with the rest.
"You still haven't found her?!" Yamato was panicking, running his hand through his dark purple hair in frustration. He groaned burying his face in his hands taking a seat on one of the tables.
"Relax Yamato-san, we'll find her. After all, with Akashi knowing this, there's a big chance he'd find her where he knows where he could find her."
"..."
"Wait if Akashi did find her, then shouldn't they be back by now? I mean Akashi--"
"I think I know where they are right now," Tetsuya snapped as all of their heads shot at him.
"You do?!" they exclaimed. He nodded.
"Baka! Why did you just tell us that now?!?!" Riko slapped Tetsuya with her paper fan in annoyance.
"Sumimase..." Tetsuya apologized.
...
They arrived at the place that Tetsuya mentioned and saw the big cherry blossom tree that he was talking about. "Right, I took her here ones, I think she remembered," Shintaro rubbed his chin.
They peeked at the ground to spot the two there. Aya's head was leaned on Akashi's shoulder and Akashi's head was leant on hers. Both of their eyes were closed saying that they were asleep as Momoi cooed at the sight. Yamato let out a sigh of relief.
"Shh!" they shushed him and her. Momoi skipped in front of them and stole a picture of them.
"What are you doing?" Daiki whispered so the two could proceed in sleeping.
"Taking a pic of this cute moment!" Momoi replied as Aya grunted adjusting her head on Akashi and continued to sleep.
"Shh! You'll wake them up!" he scolded her.
"Oh shut up you two and leave them be," Shintaro sighed and left the two sleeping peacefully.
After they left, Aya lifted her head and looked if the others were gone. "Momoi-chan took a picture of us," she pouted. Akashi pulled her head back to it's previous position.
"Don't mind her, let's just enjoy the cherry blossom tree," he told her. She smiled and did so.
