The bitter part of the sweet surprise
Rapunzel POV
•<>•><•<>•
Just a quick notice. So in the past chapters they've been written in 3rd person but I'm changing it to 1st person.

I clapped my hand up to my mouth. It wasn't possible! I had seen him die!
Well technically I was unconscious, but I kind of remembered it. Although I tried not to.
But here he was. Standing up in front of is, his arms stretched out like we hadn't missed a beat.
Merida rushed forward into his arms, laughing and crying. I sneezed a peak at Hiccup. He looked a little protective but I knew that he knew that anybody would tackle their friend in a hug like that under these circumstances.
Once Merida moved, I slowly walked up to Jack.
"Rapunzel!" He said, holding his arms out. "Hey!"
I hesitated for a moment. "Hey" was a strange thing to say when you see your girlfriend after a year.
Then I fell into his arms. He held me tightly. I buried my head in his arm chest. It felt really goo- hey what? All too soon Jack pulled away and did a man hug with Hiccup.
Where was my kiss? Where was the five-minute-long-because-I-haven't-seen-you-in-forever-hug? Something was definitely wrong. If I knew Jack correctly, which I did, we would still be hugging and crying and laughing.
I shock my head. Maybe he was just excited about seeing us again.
"So Jack, Hiccup," I said to them, "tell us the story."
"We actually met at the The Bean." Hiccup said. (The bean is our favorite coffee/icecream place.)
"No way!" I said. "But Jack, you..."
"I actually have no idea what happened." Jack said. "I blacked out in the water and when I woke up, I was in a hospital with a temporary case of amnesia. I didn't even remember my name. After a few months, my memory came back a little and we got in touch with my parents. I kind of remembered you guys, but most of my memory hadn't come back until a few months ago. There are some things that I still don't remember though."
"Wow." Merida said. "So what have you been doing in the meantime? Besides regaining your memory of course."
"Well I met this girl-"
Ding-dong
"Oh that's probably her right now. I invited her over."
I sucked in the air quickly. He met this girl and invited her over? What is he talking about? Does he even remember who I was? Who we were?
I heard the door open and Jack say "Elsa!"
"Hey!" Replied a girl's voice.
I turned around in time to see them hug and him kissing her forehead. The same way he used to hug and kiss me.
"Guys this is Elsa." Jack said, turning to us.
"Hi..." Merida said weakly. I could tell she was watching me.
"Hi." Elsa said. She sounded a little shy, but also like she had authority.
"Elsa, this is Hiccup, Merida, and Rapunzel."
"She smiled at Hiccup and Merida and nodded at me.
"Well!" Said Hiccup, breaking the silence. "I made some food for us. Who wants some?"
Everyone walked into the kitchen. Our noses met the smell of delicious tacos hamburgers.
"How did you make these?" Merida asked. "We were gone all day."
"Grandma's home." Hiccup said, taking a bite of his burger.
Hiccup's grandma was everybody's favorite. She was the best cook ever!!
Everybody except me grabbed a burger and took a bite.
"Wow!" Elsa said. "These are so good!"
Jack nodded in agreement. "Rapunzel, why don't you take one?"
"Uh... I will after I use the bathroom." I could feel hiccup and Merida's eyes on me as I left the room.
Of course, I didn't actually have to use the bathroom. I had lost my appetite. I walked into Hiccup's bathroom and looked at the window I knew was there. Slowly, I opened it and stood on the sill. The window was about 7 feet off the ground but I jumped out anyway. When we were younger, Jack, Hiccup, Merida, and I would jumped out of this window all the time, pretending to be flying airplanes.
A sob escaped my throat at the thought.
I landed expertly on my feet and started to run down the driveway.
I couldn't believe what was happening! Just a few minutes ago my heart was exploding with joy! But now it had shattered to pieces as I ran down the street, sobbing.
I didn't have my car but I only lived a 10 minute walk from Hiccup's house. Besides it gave me time to think.
I had never felt so much hate at someone! Not even just Elsa but mostly Jack! How could he?!
And the Elsa girl annoyed me too. I hated everything about her! The know-it-all authority she had. The stylish, yet simple and businesslike way she dressed.
The worst part was that I saw how perfect they were for each other. They even looked the same! The same platinum blond hair, big blue eyes.
She had everything that Jack had always hated about girls, but somehow, that made her even more perfect for him.
Before I knew it, I was at my house. I walked in and slammed the door behind me.
"Honey!" My mom appeared in the doorway. "You're home early."
"Yeah well, plans change." I said, harshly.
I watched her inspect me from the corner of her eye.
"Honey-"
"I'm fine." I said. "I'm just... tired."
I could tell that she didn't believe me, but she didn't say anything as I ran upstairs.
I slammed my door shut and threw my self onto my bed, crying. Eventually I fell to sleep.
I woke up at around 6:00. I decided that I should probably text Merida and Hiccup. I figured they already knew, but just in case.
I went home~ R
No really?~M
Are you ok?~H
Not really~R
We're coming over~M
We are?~H
Yes. I'll pick you up.~M
I clicked off my phone and lay in bed. Soon I got up and walked downstairs.
"Dinner's almost ready honey." My mom said.
"Thanks. Hiccup and Merida are coming over."
She raised an eyebrow. "I thought you were tired."
"I took a nap."
"So you're fine now?"
"N-yes."
"Ok"
"What is for dinner anyway?" I asked.
"Pasta Alfredo."
That was music to my ears. "Thanks, Mom."
She kissed my forehead. "No problem hon."
A few minutes later the doorbell rang. I answered it and saw Merida, Hicccup, and... Jack? I didn't know he was coming. At least Elsa wasn't there.
"Hi guys." I said, pretending like I already knew Jack was coming.
"Hey." Merida and Jack said together. Hiccup just smiled nervously. Bringing Jack was probably his idea.
I beckoned them inside.
Merida sniffed the air. "Ooh how I love your mum's pasta Alfredo!"
I smiled. "Come one! Dinner's ready."
We crowded around the table. Mom had gotten two extra chairs. She came in with a pot and set it on the table, before turning around to greet us.
"Hey gu-" she stopped when she saw Jack.
I groaned inwardly. I should have known this was to happen.
"Jack?" My mom wrapped Jack in a big bear hug. "Oh Jack!"
Jack awkwardly patted her back. "Hey Mrs. C."
After a few minutes of my mom sobbing into Jack's shoulder, Jack looking embarrassed, and Hiccup, Merida, and me laughing, Mom finally stopped.
"Sorry." She sniffed. "It's just, you know... I ... let me get you a chair."
Mom left and we all burst out laughing. At least Jack hadn't changed too much.

So I was able to update sooner than I thought😊☺️. I didn't know how to end this chapter so I just put that.
Do you guys like the picture? I kind of do, but Jack doesn't really match the others. I made the girls in their outfits by the way. But not Jack. I tried to do Jack but that failed😁😂.
Since it's almost Christmas break, I will be able to update a lot then.
Bye for now though😊☺️😄
