Chapter 15

Hanji began making their way over to Levi at a rapid speed, his first instinct to jump out of his seat and hide behind Erwin.

"Stay away, four eyes. I don't feel like getting close to you."

"So mean! How hasn't Erwin been scared away from you?"

Levi poked his head out from behind Erwin's large back, frowning at Hanji impressively.

"Levi's nice. You just get on his wrong side."

"I don't believe that," Hanji huffed, flopping down on the chair at Erwin's desk. "I'll be starting my few minutes of class now."

Erwin and Levi nodded, heading to stand on the side of the class, the best place to observe the students as they intently listened and laughed to Hanji's dramatic teaching. Admittedly, they were exceptional and captivating when speaking of the information they knew of.

Hanji got right into the explanation of the effects the gasses had on the human body while Levi listened intently beside Erwin. He hated to admit, Hanji was great at teaching due to their enthusiasm and eager nature.

As he stood, full attention on the information, he suddenly felt his vision go cloudy and the next moment, a pair of arms wrapped around his middle in support. Levi felt himself being placed on a seat and his vision slowly started coming back. Slowly but steadily.

"Damn it," Erwin muttered in concern. "Again? Levi, please tell me you've been eating and sleeping," Erwin asked, concern in his eyes once he saw Levi weakly smile back.

Levi looked into Erwin's eyes and blinked several times. Well, he honestly did but nowhere near to Erwin's standards he'd assume.

"Yeah," Levi nodded slowly, so as to not make his head go blurry once again. "I managed to eat a little but everyday, on lucky days a lot, and I forced myself to get at least a few hours of sleep everyday. I've improved a lot since I first met you. My ribs are even starting to cover."

"That's great," Erwin said with a sincere smile. "But why is it happening?"

Levi noticed the students watching with curious eyes, even Hanji going quiet and watching them. What a way to put them in the spotlight. What a time to get washed over with dizziness out of the blue. He sighed.

"I believe it's anemia."

"But anemia is rare in males," Hanji piped up, hanging onto Levi's every word.

Right, Levi had forgotten about the fact that they were too knowledgeable on the topic of science for their own good.

"I know but after years of not eating properly, I lack a lot of nutrients and developed deficiencies but I gradually managed to get myself together."

"Do you want to leave from here?" Erwin asked, concerned. "You can go somewhere else."

It was a moderately difficult decision at hand. Levi had come all this way to spend time with Erwin yet here he was in a health problem. He'd give up anything to spend his time with Erwin. Hell he'd even start holding his cup like a regular person if he had to. But it was clear, his deteriorating figure was enough to tell him that he desperately needed to do something like sleep. Exactly what he had done the last time he had nearly passed out.

"I think I'll have to get my Uncle to come find me. I'll meet up with you after you're finished class."

"If that's what you want then, that's what we'll do," Erwin said. "Hanji, please watch over my class until I'm back. I'll go with Levi."

Erwin stretched out his hand for Levi to take and helped him out of his seat. Levi could walk fine but that didn't mean he had to let go, so Erwin didn't and their hands remained linked as they walked out the class with Levi trailing tiredly.

"Do you believe them, Professor Hanji?" Connie asked as soon as the two were gone and their footsteps vanished.

"Believe what?"

"Mr. Smith says that him and Levi are just friends. Nothing more and nothing else."

"He said that?!" Hanji asked, fully amused. "I don't believe them one bit! Have you seen the way Erwin looks at him!? Like a rare and precious ornament!"

"Exactly!" Sasha yelled. "He expects us to believe him when he says they're just friends! Levi even calls him Blondie and dropped him yet he still seems completely entranced by the midget."

"I know exactly what you mean! But never call Levi short unless you want him to murder you. My back still hurts from that time," Hanji said, rubbing their back as the 'pain' emerged but stopping when they suddenly realized the topic they were on. "Wait?! They told you guys about that?!"

The entire class nodded and Hanji sighed, "Of course they did. Anyway, let's continue before Erwin returns although I hardly think he'll notice that we were just talking instead of working. After all, Levi's here and that'll distract him for a bit."

"Wait, Professor? How did they meet? It seems like they've known each other for a long time yet no time at all." Armin asked, overly curious about his older brother. "I've never heard of Levi either."

"He didn't tell you?" Hanji asked, a bit surprised as Armin shook his head. "They met last week."

"What?!" the class exclaimed in surprise, not expecting that. A few weeks, yes, but not a single week.

"Last week Monday when Erwin and I weren't here was because Erwin was at Levi's house after he got lost and I went to get him," Hanji explained, looking at Armin although they were explaining to the entire class. "They met the day before."

The class stayed quiet and Hanji decided they would give them a few more seconds of silence before starting the last minutes of the class once again. Class was class and Armin loved his learning time yet he couldn't help but feel as if there was something off with his older brother's interesting relationship. It didn't matter though, the elder was capable of making decisions.
