The moment I've been waiting for.
The next day~
Drista woke up the six. She was also kind enough to give them more food and some better gear.
"Woah! This is so much better than what we had!", Michael yelled excitedly.
Drista just rolled her eyes and smiled.
"Okay, you all ready to cross the river?".
They all nodded.
"Okay then!".
Drista spawned three oak boats near the water. Again, she can just teleport them, but where's the fun in that?
The six paired up in each of the boats, Junior and Finley, Michelle and Michael, and then Shroud and Yogurt. Drista just floated over their heads.
A sudden strong breeze shook their boats.
"Wha- Junior! Stop that!", Finley yelled at her brother.
"What!? That wasn't me! Let me just-".
Junior let go of the paddles and focused on the wind, calming the breeze into a slightly weaker position.
"There you go. Now can we please get going!?", he yelled annoyed.
They continued their small voyage. Soon their boats hit land. They all got off and broke the boats. Drista landed back onto the ground.
"Now, follow me. I know where they are".
Drista led the six through the forest. Their eyes widened when they heard laughter and two echo-ey voices.
"That was so stupid, Tommy!".
"Big man Tommy's not stupid, Dré!".
More cheerful laughter was heard. The six were so shocked.
"Was that- was that..!?".
Finley couldn't get the words out of her mouth. Drista averted her gaze and sighed.
"Yeah..you don't have to come see them if you don't want-".
"We're seeing them", Michelle stepped forward, her eye filled with tears.
Drista stared at them for a moment, before continuing to walk. The six followed her warily.
They reached a big wooden house. It had two floors and a front yard covered with alliums and cornflowers, a few bees flying around. But that wasn't what caught their eyes.
Two young translucent beings were playing and laughing with eachother. They seemed to be having the time of their lives. More accurately, their afterlives.
One of them had blond hair, dull green eyes and wore a baggy green hoodie. There was a flower crown on his head, made of the same cornflowers from the garden. A smile mark could be seen on his wrist and neck. He was sitting in the grass, holding some more flowers.
The other one, slightly shorter and younger looking than the other, had a plain white shirt with red sleeves. He had dull blue eyes, but a bright smile. An allium flower crown rested on his head. It was kept in place using a bee shaped hair clip. He looked like he had just tripped and fell, but was smiling happily.
But one thing that the two had in common, was the huge stab wound on both of their chests, ripping through their clothes with dried blood staining them. It was almost impossible to notice it, as the happy aura in the atmosphere cancelled it out.
Drista looked back at the six, who were staring at them shocked. She sighed and turned to the ghosts, putting on a smile.
"Tommy! Dream! I'm back!".
The two immediately turned to her. The younger one, Tommy, ran and tackled her in a hug.
"Drista! Alpha male! You're back!".
Drista hugged him back.
"Yes, I'm back, you child".
He gave her an offended look.
"Me!? A child!? Wha- I'm big man Tommy Innit! I'm literally older than you!".
Drista shook her head and went to Dream, who was looking at her eagerly.
"Hey, sis! Welcome back!".
He hugged her tightly. She smiled.
"I have good news".
They looked at her, hope filling their dull eyes.
"I'm gonna be staying here for a while this time-".
"REALLY!?", the two yelled, cutting her off.
She nodded and cut them off before they started celebrating.
"And! We have guests!".
The two looked behind her to see the six kids. They looked sad to see them, which made the two to go closer to them with curiousity.
"H-hi there!", Junior said, trying his best to be enthusiastic.
"You all look familiar..and you!", Tommy moved closer to Shroud, who was trying their best not to have a panic attack right infront of the ghost.
"You're really familiar. What's your name, kid?".
Shroud looked at their friends for help. They didn't say anything. He looked back at the curious ghost.
"...I-I'm..Shroud".
Tommy squinted his eyes at him for a moment, before snapping his fingers in realisation.
"You're my son! You're big man Shroud Innit! Right?".
Shroud nodded shakily. He laughed and ruffled their black hair. Shroud flinched slightly at the chilly touch, but leaned into it.
"Man, you've grown-! oh, why are you crying?".
Shroud's eyes widened and they quickly wiped away the tears.
"I-it's nothing! I'm just- just very happy to see you..".
Tommy didn't question it too much. He turned to Michael
"Oh! Oh! You're Bee and Boo's son! What's your name?".
Michael jumped a little at the sound.
"..U-um, Michael?", he said unsure of himself.
Tommy smiled more.
"Yes! Michael! That's it! You've grown too!", he laughed more.
Dream looked at Michelle, eyes filled with curiousity, and hummed.
"You're a zombie piglin, right?".
She could only nod, keep her head low enough to not see the tears that filled her eye. He hummed again.
"What's your name again?".
"..M-Michelle".
Dream smiled at her gently.
"I'm sure alive me knew you. I remember him saving a baby piglin once. That was you, right?".
His voice was very gentle, as if he knew what was happening in Michelle's mind.
She nodded again, still not sure on what to say. He turned to Yogurt, who was hugging Shroud in an attempt to comfort him.
"You're a..an artic fox! Right?".
She nodded happily.
"I'm Yogurt!".
He ruffled her snow white hair.
"You remind me of someone.." he muttered quietly to himself.
He turned to see who was left and jumped happily.
"Oh! You two are totems! Like my brother Foolish! Do you know him?", he asked excitedly.
The two looked at eachother, fighting internally on who should answer. Finley gave in and answered.
"Y-yes. We're his kids. I'm Finley and he's Foolish Jr.".
He smiled and waved.
"You're my niblings! Hi!".
They waved awkwardly. He looked at them all, confused on why they were sad. He suddenly realised something.
"Oh! Stupid me! I'm GhostDré! Introduce yourself, Tom!".
Tommy turned to him and nodded. He put his hand over his chest dramatically.
"I'm big man Ghostinnit. But you can call me Tommy!".
The six nodded slowly. Drista put her hand on both of the ghosts' shoulders.
"Hey, why don't you two keep doing what you were doing? I'm just gonna talk to them, 'kay?".
The ghosts looked at eachother and nodded.
"Come on!".
The two ghosts went back to playing with the flowers. Drista smiled for a moment and turned back to the six.
"T-that isn't.. that's not really them, r-right..?", Shroud asked shakily, still engulfed in a hug by Yogurt.
The young goddess looked at them sadly, as the answer quite clear.
"Why..?".
She turned to Michelle, who already had tears running down her eye.
"Why are they here? Why aren't they back at the main lands? Where they belong!?", she asked, raising her voice with every word.
Drista looked down.
"They're here because they deserve to get away from this god**** server", she answered coldly, her voice going slightly demonic.
They didn't have anything to respond to that. She continued.
"You'll never feel how I felt when I got the news of their deaths. Especially after finding their ghosts... They were completely different, transformed back into their childlike stupid selves, not remembering any of the trauma. The only thing the two remember, is us. Dream only remembers items that represent people, while Tommy only remembers the nicknames he gave people".
She stared at them dead in the eyes.
"And I wasn't willing for them to go back to the place that did no good for them".
The six were speechless. Drista was quite intimidating when she was dead serious. She sighed suddenly, realising that she might be scaring them. She covered her face with her hand.
"Listen. You six are welcome here whenever you want. You can stay for how much you want. But you can't tell them about any of the traumatizing crap that happened in this server. Feel free to answer non-traumatizing questions though".
With that, Drista went upto the two ghosts and happily played with them. None of them were sure what to do next. Shroud stayed in Yogurt's arms, still in light denial, while the others were trying their best not to cry.
Junior sighed shakily.
"C-come on then. Let's, uh, try and talk to the ghosts".
