Chapter 2

Narrator's pov

-

Dust particles took over the air, only visible by the one spot of light entering the office

A singular window made of stained glass, painted a picture of a cross which allowed the dim light of the moon to shine through

The light coincidently beamed down on Ella who was sat in the exact same spot where it came from

The girl's head was tossed backwards but her hands were tied behind her back. There wasn't a cloth around her mouth

Well. Not as yet. If she's into that kinda stuff.

The bright reflection started to stir the girl awake. With her conscious came her headache from collapsing through the hallway of the church

Slow blinks soon followed, the blackness of covered eyes slowly started to get into focus

"Mmmm" Ella hummed as she adjusted her head

Her focus then came into play, as her eyes started to adjust to the room

It was her uncle's office which he mostly stayed in. The dark and dim office was almost haunting, papers were scattered all across the ground while books from the shelf were scattered on the floor along with it

His antique ornaments consisted of wooden crosses on the walls, almost five on every side, all turned upside down to represent evil instead of prosper. Ella almsot shivered at the sight

There was even a statue of an angel in the corner of the room but it was taken over by dust, a few cracks on its rough cement skin made it even more haunting. Especially to the fact that there was a black liquid mysteriously speared across the statue's face

Couches were torn, almost as if someone tried to rip inside it to search for hidden treasures

It was only then did Ella move her body, making it that her hands rubbed against each other and the tightness of the rope caught her

"What the?" she asked herself looking down to her hands

The girl furrowed her brows as she tried to wiggle her hands out of the rope

But the poor thing was failing miserably and wasn't getting anyway with her fidgeting

"Ugh no" Ella groaned as she tried even harder to tug her wrists through

But it seems as though the more she tried, the harder it got. Ella glanced down and saw that her feet were also tied to the chair

The girl almost rolled her eyes but the confusion of how she got into this position in the first place was sending her instead

So our brilliant brunette started to rock back and forth in the chair, hoping that it might loosen the ropes somehow

Her weight shifted back and forth, rocking along with the wooden chair

"No... " she muttered, started to feel the balance go slightly off

"No no no" She panicked when there was way more weight going to the back of the chair

Only to have it fall flat on her back

"Nooo" she groaned, luckily the back of the chair saved her from injury but that didn't subside from the fact that it did hurt

Her back was pressed against the ground as her eyes met up to the ceiling, her arm was still lodged behind the chair which hurted her wrist from the fall

Only thing left for her to do was recall her memories and why she was even tied up in the first place

The last she's remembered was the funeral. Walking down the isle with eyes on her, a few whispers from each side with only words to degrade her

Many has never liked Ella's appearance in the Coven, especially to the fact that they've all worked so hard for their place while Ella came in and received special relative treatment from her uncle

Now she's expected to do great things in his place which she's been failing hard at

Exactly why mother superior was now in charge of the coven and all the girl's in the home

Standing by the sister at the podium made her feel all the more insecure, their eyes were easily graced on her like a target

It played a heavy roll in the reason why she dashed out the gathering and down the hall

The panicking feeling that engulfed her was powerful, so strong that it had her faint on spot

But there was something there that was missing. Ella furrowed her brows as she tried to focus on the small memory she had

A figure, a dark looming figure that stood just at the end of the hallway

A figure with wings, large and outstretched. Claws on the tip and texture of a dry snake. Eyes that glowed like a hunter who's found their pray

It came closer. With each step made her heart thump faster in her chest

She had no idea what it was or if it was even real, perhaps it was a hallucination from the blood draining in her face before she went unconscious

"That's so weird" she chuckled to herself

It was silly to her to ever think of such  nonsense, especially in a church where her creator would protect her from evil forces

"So stupid, I could have sworn I saw a-"

"-Demon" a voice answered

The voice came out smooth as silk yet venomous at the same time. Ella's eyes widened so far that it almost replaced her entire face

Her mouth hung low when she finally came into contact with the person... Or.. The thing? Standing over her head, upside down because of their position

The figure still appeared as a shadow but it started to come closer, revealing its face

Oxygen failed Ella in that moment when her eyes were graced upon a mesmerizing sight

Her hair was the dark colour of black, saturated to perfection which tumbled over her shoulder from the angle she was leaning over in

Tiny orange freckles met her nose and carried over to her cheek, but not enough to disturb the rest of her beauty that followed

Her lips were plump with the right amount of pink, curling up into a slight smile which only made Ella's heart flutter in her chest even more

Her face was nothing of evil, but more of sinister in the most desirable way possible. Her eyes were the lightest shade of blue, the kind of blue that could only be created by mixing cyan and white paint together

They pierced into Ella's like the sharp end of a hanging icicle, numbing her with every passing second. How could eyes so beautiful glow a dark red in the dark? Surely Ella had her mistaken

But to clear it all up, the black wings that towered over Ella's face was enough to stamp demon on the girl's forehead

"Seems as though you've gotten yourself in a little trouble there Princess" the voice came again

But Ella was too occupied with panicking on the inside that she couldn't bring herself to think clearly

Fear took over, ubiquitous as sunlight on cracked streets. What she saw was true and wasn't just in her head. A supernatural being was hovering over her body. Terrified was the way to describe her appearance. The girl's face sank into her skeleton immediately, making her look hallow with fear. Where was God when she needed him.

A creation of evil stood over her as if it had to show its power. A spirit of some kind in the appearance of human flesh, like wolf in sheep's clothing. She was disgusted but afraid for her life at the same time

Where was her leader, someone to save her soul from being taken by a spirit who knew evil, spoke evil and lived by evil

It was the fear of the prey, who knew what was coming next but Ella was far too weak to do anything about it

The realization of what evil was standing in front of her was enough to numb her entire body with her. Adrenaline was no where to be found as yet

Her heart matched the pace of a horse tramping free from captivity after years, pounding in her chest as if it was going to leap out

"I can tell that you're scared of me" The demon chuckled

It was confusing for Ella, the evil in carnation seemed so gentle with its words yet the facts were something else

But then again, evil could disguise itself as whatever it wanted to seem like a friend

The thought was enough to make Ella shiver in disgust through it all

In that shiver was a moment of truth, a story of the emotions that no mask could ever hide

Evil walked the halls of the church
