Chapter 4
"I'm Hunter" the boy stated.
This was the same boy who had approached (Y/N) earlier after her brawl with Shawn. It was amazing how everyone believed she wasn't a girl. And it was nice to know she was on their level. She was seen as an equal.
"Johnson. Caleb Johnson" she replied, extending out her hand for him to shake.
As the two shook hands, it was like they'd just closed a deal. Or made a seal. In this case, they were going to be the best of friends.
"So what'd they get you for?" he clarified, crossing his arms.
"Shoplifting. Something I like to do in my spare time." she blurted, coming up with the best excuse possible.
His right arm was overlapped by his left, crossing his arms, his biceps flexed and tensed themselves, revealing a tattoo. A green fire-breathing dragon. (Y/N) gulped, hoping not to get on his bad side. She'd associated tattoos with intimidation. Little did she realise, Hunter was one of the most gentle cell mates.
Truth is, (Y/N) didn't know a thing about shoplifting. She didn't know a thing about the real Caleb Johnson, let alone play him with no one to turn to. The task was proving itself a lot more difficult than she'd initially imagined.
The juvie life was far more brutal than her home life. From having everything on a silver plate, she had to learn to accept what was handed to her.
"So, what's the rundown around here?" she asked, attempting to play it off cool.
Hunter shot her a look of confusion, raising his eyebrow higher than his sideburns.
"What do you guys do around here?" she reiterated, correcting herself after having cleared her throat to remove the embarrassment on her face.
"It's juvie. Do whatever you want as long as you don't get in trouble." he shrugged. "By the way you should join us man."
She agreed, provided she could stay in the spotlight. Given she didn't know anyone around, it was time for her to start making connections.
"So since you're new. Showers once a day, you get about 10 minutes to call family members... Then when you're released you're assigned a probation officer to keep watch." he continued to explain.
(Y/N) sighed, somewhat happy with the outcome. It didn't change the fact that she would be kept under somebody's watch. Juvie somehow sounded much better than slogging hours at her dad's law firm, just to keep the business running after her mum cheated on him with his rival.
As (Y/N) followed Hunter and his friends around juvie, she'd caught Robby's eye a couple of times. Almost like he'd been meaning to talk to her. The group was huddled in a circle, getting to know one another. Upon (Y/N)'s turn to talk, she panicked. It was difficult to make up a backstory for a role she's playing.
"What about you man?" Hunter gestured, upon her turn.
"Uh.... I uh... well apart from shoplifting--" she stuttered until she was interrupted.
Robby tapped her on the shoulder, gesturing her to follow him. He acknowledged the rest of the group as they, in return, acknowledged him. He proceeded to take her to a corner in the room to clear the air.
"Hey listen man... I wanted to apologise for earlier. You're the only person who stuck up for me and didn't turn your back on me." he explained, in the most polite manner.
(Y/N) accepted his apology as she held out her hand, encouraging him to befriend her.
"No worries man..." she chirped in her best male voice, compelling Robby to raise his brow with a sense of confusion. "I mean, yeah, whatever. We're cool man."
She immediately turned away from him, embarrassed at the way she spoke to him.
"Wait!" he exclaimed, seeking her attention. "I didn't get your name!"
A relieved (Y/N) turned back to Robby, holding out her hand once again for him to shake. He reciprocated, following the gesture.
"Johnson. Caleb Johnson." she introduced.
"Robby Keene."
Their handshake continued on for longer than necessary. (Y/N) found herself smiling and almost staring at Robby. One could say she was mesmerised. Until she snapped out of it when Robby jerked his hand away and cleared his throat. He acknowledged her once again and went his way.
"Well that was awkward." (Y/N) thought to herself.

Later that night, (Y/N) replayed the scenes from the fight. She acted on impulse, amazed at what she was capable of. A smile crept up on her face as she found herself re-playing her encounter with Robby on two occasions.
As everybody else was asleep, she headed straight for the changeroom, hoping to avoid getting caught. She couldn't afford to get caught. The bathrooms weren't exactly private, given the stalls were cramped next to one another.
It was her only chance. She made sure she was the last person to get changed before sleeping. She busted out of the room with her clothes.
On her way in, she instantly took off her pants, revealing the underwear she'd been surviving on. It was starting to reek of her sweat. She'd washed as much as she could, leaving it out to dry by the sink.
She'd suddenly heard footsteps in the distance. Almost like another cell mate had woken up. She had to hide. Somewhere. (Y/N) frantically took her belongings, cramping herself up behind the walls which lead to the showers.
"What the fuck?" she mouthed to herself. "Who could be up at this fucking hour?"
She peeked behind the wall to see who it was. The same boy she'd saved from the fight earlier. None other than Robby Keene.
She gulped as he took off his shirt, examining his scars. Her mouth gaped wide open, admiring the way his body was sculpted. Before she knew it, she landed to the floor with a massive thud. Robby's head quickly jerked itself to the side, investigating the noise in the distance. He proceeded to head towards it until (Y/N) stopped him in his tracks.
"Get out whoever you are!" she grunted, quickly changing into her clothes.
"Man, it's ok it's just me." Robby responded.
(Y/N) continued to grunt as she put her new change of clothes on. Robby was unsure as to why it was taking her so long to put on a simple pair of clothes.
"You need help there man?" he offered, taking another step forward until (Y/N) cut him off again.
"NO NO!" she laughed, whilst yelling at the top of her voice. "Stay-stay there please... I'm fine."
Moments later, she was finally done, stepping out of the showers to face Robby. Luckily they couldn't see one another's faces properly in the dark. (Y/N)'s face wasn't so permanent from the makeup. She had to find an alternative.
"Alright well get back to bed before they catch you doing something suspicious." he mumbled, half asleep whilst rubbing his eye.
She found his sleepy voice rather cute. (Y/N) couldn't wait to spend time with him at juvie. Unfortunately, she had to keep up with the role she'd been playing. This was definitely going to be a lot more difficult than she'd imagined...
