Chapter Three | Forgotten Memories
❃
|Emma's House|
❃
After Meg and Henry left, Emma made sure Killian was watching Roland so she could talk to Regina and try to figure what, exactly, had happened.
"Do you remember Robin Hood at all?" Emma asked. Regina was sitting on Emma's bed and Emma was pacing back and forth, running her hands through her hair.
"No."
"Robin of Locksley? The Man With the Lion Tattoo?" Emma tried, but neither name worked. Regina still had no idea who Emma was talking about.
"Regina, look at me." Emma stopped and stood across from Regina, looking into her eyes. "Why were you in your vault?"
"I was cleaning. You had Henry and I was bored, so--"
"Regina, no. You went down there to make an infertility curse and now you can't remember your soulmate."
"Why would I need an infertility curse?" Regina raised an eyebrow. "I took one before I cast the Dark Curse and they don't just...wear off over time."
"Don't you feel it?" Emma asked. "You're pregnant, Regina!"
Regina shook her head. "I can't... that's... that's not possible."
"You have to trust me," Emma pleaded. "You had a boyfriend - fiancé - named Robin. Hades took him to the Underworld yesterday as the price for you going to Tartarus and now, either you made yourself forget about him or someone else did, but either way, you've forgotten about him."
"Do you really believe all of this?"
"It's true. I promise. We're going to figure out a way to get your memories back, but for now, I need you to be like Henry. I need you to believe."
"I'll do my best."
❃
Henry opened the door to Emma's house and Meg followed him inside. Regina and Emma were both in the living room talking while Killian was with Roland in the kitchen.
Killian's eyes widened when he saw Henry and Meg. "You guys had better let your parents know you're okay."
Henry and Meg glanced nervously at each other before hesitantly entering the living room. When Emma and Regina saw them, they both jumped up. "Henry!"
"Uh...hi..."
"Why did you think it was a good idea to go to Zelena's cabin?!" Emma demanded. "You two could have been hurt!"
"I know, but we found the engagement ring."
"And we found out that someone is at Zelena's cabin," Meg added.
"Who?" Regina asked.
Henry shrugged. "We left before we saw them, but we got the ring." Henry handed the engagement ring to Regina, who carefully picked it up out of his hand. when she touched it, memories flashed through her mind, but she could only grab hold of one of them. She looked over at Emma. "I remember what happened."
"With Robin?" Emma asked hopefully.
Regina shook her head. "No. I remember who made me forget."
"I knew you didn't do it yourself!" Meg exclaimed. "Wait, who was it?"
"Zelena."
|The Underworld|
"Why did you let them go?" Dorothy called out to Hades from her cell. "What made you think that was a good idea?!"
"His unrequited crush on her," Neal whispered to Robin, causing the thief to crack a smile.
"I have my reasons," Hades replied, "and they're none of your concern."
"They are if she hurts Regina!" Robin said. "You promised she wouldn't get hurt!"
Hades shook his head. "No, I promised I wouldn't hurt your precious little family. Zelena can do whatever she likes."
"NO!" Robin shouted. "That's not fair!"
"So glad I don't give a--"
"You made a deal," Dorothy interrupted. "And that deal was that Regina wouldn't get hurt."
"She won't get hurt, not physically, at least. And if she does, it won't be because of Zelena or Arthur; it'll be because of that...thing growing inside of her."
"Wh-What?" Robin asked. "What are you talking about?"
"He's talking about why he wouldn't take Regina's soul instead of yours," Dorothy explained, suddenly understanding why Robin was in the Underworld instead of Regina, "because if he took Regina, he would be taking more than one soul."
"No..." Robin muttered, silently begging Dorothy to not say what he was fearing she would say.
"Regina's pregnant."

Meg stumbled backwards. "No, that's not possible. Hades took her away, I saw it with my own eyes!"
"The same Hades that has a crush on her?" Regina asked. "Because Hook said he spent the week we were asleep in the Underworld quoting Romeo and Juliet at her."
Emma, Henry, and Meg all gave Regina a weird look.
"What?" Regina asked. "I remember going to the Underworld. I just don't remember Robin."
"Do you remember Tartarus?" Meg asked.
Regina opened her mouth to answer, but hesitated, "Bits and pieces, I guess... I don't remember why I went down there or how I got out."
"So Zelena literally went through your memory and... essentially deleted Robin. But why would she do that?"
Meg rolled her eyes. "This is Zelena we're talking about."
"No," Henry shook his head, "this doesn't add up. Zelena has a bigger plan. She was suffering enough after losing Robin that making her forget would be showing her mercy in Zelena's twisted world. And we all know Zelena wouldn't show mercy. So she must have a bigger plan that requires Mom to forget about Robin. Maybe some new curse or something, I don't know, but taking her memories for the fun of it doesn't sound like her."
"You're right," Regina agreed. "If I'm as in love with Robin as Emma says I am, and he...he's gone...then why would Zelena erase my pain?"
"So there's a bigger picture," Meg concluded. "And chances are if Zelena's back, Arthur's back too and for some reason, they need Regina's memories of Robin."
"I vote my dad, Killian, Regina, and I just storm the cabin," Emma announced. "We knock out Zelena and Arthur, rip Arthur's heart out, and force him to tell us the truth."
Regina shook her head. "Too dangerous. We need a plan." Regina slid her engagement ring onto her left ring finger absentmindedly, "Think. Why would Zelena want my memories besides for the memories themselves?"
"Well if she was a decent human being, I'd say she wanted you to move on," Emma suggested. "But as we all know, Zelena is not a decent human being."
"Would there be benefits for her if I moved on?"
"Someone else to rip away from you just for fun?" Henry suggested.
Emma shrugged. "Possibly. But there's a very small chance that Regina would move on even if we never got her memories back, what would be worth that chance?"
Regina let out a bitter laugh, "Revenge."
"Revenge for what?"
Regina shrugged. "Anything. Being born, taking the life she should have had, taking Meg, losing Meg to the time portal, there's a whole list."
Emma's eyes widened. "If it's revenge for taking Meg that she wants, then that might be what she's after. If she made you forget so you didn't take the infertility curse..."
Regina's hands slowly drifted to her stomach. "No. No way. I will not let her take my child."
Emma was hesitant to say more, especially in front of Meg and Henry, but she spoke anyways. "Regina, you're the reason she couldn't hurt Neal or Evelyn. If it's you who just gave birth and can't move from the hospital bed..."
Regina shook her head. "She can't know I'm pregnant! I've only known for a week and I didn't tell anyone until earlier today."
"Hades knew," Meg whispered. "that's why he wouldn't take you instead of Robin. If he's as in love with Zelena as Hook thought, then he might have told her."
"No," Regina muttered. "She can't take my baby."
"We won't let her," Emma assured Regina, her voice full of determination. "I have plenty of magic and we can convince Gold to help because you saved Evelyn. We have over eight months to figure this out."
"Just don't eat any suspicious onion rings," Henry warned.
Regina raised an eyebrow. "What?"
"Do you not remember Meg being born?"
"No," Regina's voice got quiet.
"Please do not eat any onion rings," Emma advised.
