Chapter Thirty-Seven | Only You

Looking from a window above,
It's like a story of love...

|One Month Later|

Henry plopped a stack of books down on the table while Violet watched. He pulled a folded up map from his pocket and set it down on the table as well.

"So what exactly are we here for?" Violet pulled her jacket tighter around her. Henry had insisted on meeting in the library secretly in the middle of the night, which meant no heat.

"To figure out a way to keep all of the happy endings. I've been reading up on it, and I think I know what we need."

"So what is it?" Violet asked.

Henry opened a book and flipped through the pages until he found what he was looking for. He then turned the book so it was facing Violet. "The Olympian Crystal. It could protect Storybrooke forever. My dad had a bunch of notes on it in a journal that he kept, which was in his apartment. In New York. I think we need his journal to figure this out completely."

"So you want to sneak off to New York?" Violet clarified.

"Yes."

Gold awoke when the sun rose. Today was the day he would finally put his plan into action. Hades was gone for good, and Belle trusted him completely. So she would have to understand this...right?

Gold dropped the crystal on the wire floor in the clock tower before pulling his dagger from his coat pocket. Through countless realms and centuries, Gold had finally found the Olympian Crystal and the perfect place to do what he needed.

The Dark One waved his dagger over the crystal and a beam of light shot out from the clock tower. The crystal glowed brightly and Gold bent down and picked it up.

Finally.

Now all he needed was for Belle to understand.

Regina's eyes shot open and she bolted upright. At the same time, Hope started crying. Regina picked her daughter of and started bouncing her up and down. "Shhh, shhh, it's okay. Mommy's got you."

"What's wrong?" Robin asked.

Regina turned to look at her husband. "I think--"

Meg burst into the room. "Something's wrong with the magic. I can feel it."

Regina nodded in agreement. "That must be what woke Hope up." Regina placed a kiss to her daughter's head. "Shhhh, Hope, you're okay." Then she looked up and frowned. "Where's Henry?"

"Still sleeping, probably. He doesn't have magic, does he?"

"No, but he would have felt it," Regina assured Meg. "He's the Author and he knows magic pretty well for someone his age."

"Maybe he didn't feel it?" Meg asked hopefully.

Regina pursed her lips. "Or maybe he's not here." She groaned. "I'm going to call Jane. If Henry went somewhere and didn't drag you along, he would have taken Violet instead."

Regina moved to check in Henry's bedroom when her phone went off. She sighed and picked it up. "Yes, Zelena, I know something happened with the magic-- Oh. I'm on my way. I'll be right there, I promise." Regina hung up and handed Hope to Robin. "Whatever happened with the magic upset Zelena's baby. He's coming. Now."

Henry and Violet were almost at the town line when the ground shook. Violet grabbed onto Henry's arm. "What was that?"

"The crystal..." Henry muttered. "It's here, and someone tethered it to Storybrooke's magic."

"Well who's powerful enough to do that?"

Henry thought for a moment. "I could probably do it using the quill, but obviously I'm right here. Aunt Zelena wouldn't risk using magic because it could hurt her baby. And I doubt either of my moms would be up this early. Which leaves my grandpa. Mr. Gold."

"I thought he was trying to be good for Belle?"

Henry shrugged. "Who knows? Maybe he was lying and we all fell for it." Henry slung his backpack off of his shoulder and took out the quill and his notebook. "If the crystal is here, I can get it. Then we can get my dad's journal and figure out how it works."

"Are you sure we shouldn't...ask someone else? If Mr. Gold is involved..." Violet's voice trailed off.

"No. No one will let us help because they don't want us in danger. Trust me, my moms and dad will follow us, and your mom will probably come too. This is the only way to make sure they let us help." Henry held the quill above his notebook and began to write;

"The Olympian Crystal appeared in the Author's hand."

Henry held his hand out and the crystal appeared in a cloud of white smoke. He shoved the quill and note book back in his backpack before turning to Violet. "Ready to go to New York?"

Violet nodded. "Let's go."

"What's your name?" A nurse asked Regina.

"Regina Locksley. I'm here for my sister, Zelena Mills, she--"

"Right this way." Regina followed the nurse's slow pace, silently urging her to go faster. Finally, they made it to Zelena's room and the nurse allowed Regina inside.

"Oh thank gods," Arthur said as soon as he saw Regina. "I have absolutely no clue what I'm doing."

"You're just there as a hand to squeeze and someone to yell insults at," Regina replied. "You and Robin can talk all about it after we figure where Henry is and who's messing with the magic, and after this baby comes, because he's not about to wait."

Robin's call to Emma went to voicemail a second time. "Emma Swan, I know you're awake!" Robin shouted into the phone. "Henry's gone, and Zelena's baby is coming, so if you could stop making out with your pirate for two seconds, it would be greatly appreciated." Robin hung up and rubbed his forehead. "Regina's rubbing off on me," he muttered.

"Papa, Papa!" Roland came running into the room, wide awake despite the fact that he had been sleeping soundly five minutes before. "Where's Mama? I'm hungry."

"Mama's at the hospital with Aunt Zelena. We'll have to head to Granny's for breakfast."

"Okay. Where're Henry and Meg?"

"Meg's downstairs and Henry...he snuck off with Violet. But don't worry, Emma's already looking. At least, she had better be."

"SHUT UP!" Emma yelled at her phone. She was tearing apart her house, trying to find something. The phone went into voicemail and Robin's voice came through again.

"Did Regina tell you to say that?" Emma muttered sarcastically. "Where did I put it?!"

"Swan!" Killian darted down the stairs. "What are you doing?"

"Looking for something. Henry's gone, Violet's gone, Zelena's baby is coming, and something's wrong with the magic."

"What are you looking for?"

"Magic. Where did I put it?!" Emma opened up another cupboard and knocked several bowls onto the floor. "Come on! It's gotta be here somewhere!"

Killian reached on top of the fridge and grabbed a vial of a glowing blue liquid. "Is this what you're looking for?"

"Yes!" Emma grabbed the vial from him and pressed a quick kiss to his cheek. "Thank you, thank you, thank you! Now go tell my parents what's going on please. I need to call Robin and Jane back." Emma rushed out the door after grabbing her phone. By the time she was in her bug, she had her phone pressed against her ear, calling Robin.

"Emma? It's about time--"

"Shut up," the blonde interrupted. "Whatever is happening with the magic is Gold's fault, by process of elimination. Henry and Violet are still in town, but I don't know what they're doing. Killian is talking to my parents right now. I need you to call someone to watch Hope and Roland, because you're going to help me track down Henry and Violet."

"Okay," Robin agreed. "See you in a few minutes."

The cries of a newborn baby filled the hospital room as the doctors cleaned up Zelena and Arthur's son. The baby was wrapped in a blanket and handed to Zelena. Arthur and Regina both looked over at the newborn in Zelena's arms.

"He's wonderful," Regina muttered. "He's almost as cute as Henry was."

Zelena glared at her sister. "You're just biased."

Regina shrugged. "Maybe. But seriously, he's so cute. Do you have a name picked out yet?"

Zelena looked Regina in the eye. "It's a secret," she said with a straight face. The two started laughing.

"Regina Locksley?" A nurse entered the room. "Jane Porter is here to see you."

Regina nodded. "Okay, one second." She turned to Zelena, "I'll be back as soon as I can, I promise. But Henry and Violet are gone, and--"

"Go," Zelena said. "I have my son, now go find yours."

Regina gave her sister a half hug before hurrying out to the lobby where Jane was waiting.

Those meddling kids!

The moment the Olympian Crystal vanished from Gold's hand, he knew Henry was at fault. He was dealing with Author magic. And if Henry was the one doing the work, he'd almost certainly drug Violet or Meg down with him.

Gold needed to figure out where they were headed before they left town, so he found a map of Maine and pricked his finger with a needle. Because Henry had made one mistake.

Gold was his biological grandfather, and so long as Gold had a map, he could find Henry anywhere.

"So what exactly is going on?" Snow asked, very confused by what Killian was trying to tell her.

"Something's wrong with the magic in Storybrooke and Henry and Violet ran away. Also Zelena's currently giving birth," the pirate repeated.

"Okay," Snow said, trying to calm herself down. "Okay, okay, let's see. Who's responsible for whatever's wrong with the magic?"

"My guess is the Crocodile."

"But he changed!" Snow protested. "He wanted to be good for Belle and Evelyn. He was trying to be a hero."

"Who else would it be?" Killian challenged. "No one else with magic was even awake, and the gods and goddesses are banned from messing with Storybrooke."

"Mommy, Mommy!" Neal came running over to Killian and Snow. "Why's Killy here?"

"It's...complicated," Snow sighed and picked her son up.

David rushed out of the bedroom, phone in hand. "Gold's at the hospital with Zelena's baby. Something about Henry and Violet going to Boston?"

Zelena held her newborn son close to her chest as Arthur pulled out his sword to do what he could against the Dark One.

"I'm not here to hurt your son. Although there's still time for that. I just need you out of my way."

The door to the hospital room opened again and the Charmings, Killian, and Neal burst in.

"About time you got here," Gold turned to face them.

"What--?"

Gold cut David off. "I called you, not them. And now, I can get you all out of my hair and find that crystal!" Gold pulled the Sorcerer's wand from his pocket and opened a portal in the room.

"What are you doing?!" Snow shouted over the noise the swirling portal was making. "Where are you sending us?"

Gold looked her in the eye and smirked. "Somewhere terrible." The portal began growing and everyone spread to the outside of the room.

Zelena handed her son to Arthur. "Get him out of here."

"What--?"

Zelena pulled Arthur down into a kiss. "Go, I'll be fine." Arthur and the baby disappeared in a cloud of green smoke.

While Gold was distracted by Arthur, Killian lunged for the wand. He succeeded in getting the wand, but the portal sucked him in.

"Hook!" David tried to grab his arm, put the portal was too strong and it pulled David in as well.

Snow handed her son to Neal. "I have to go after him." She jumped in the portal as well.

Gold turned to Neal. "I'm not letting you out of this because you're my son."

"I don't know why Belle ever trusted you," Neal spat back. "But I do know you will come after me, even if it takes another Dark Curse." Neal took a step towards the portal.

"You have Snow's son," Gold tried.

"Then you better stop me from jumping."

"The portal-- it will take you somewhere dangerous."

"I survived Neverland twice."

"This is your fault." Gold snarled. He vanished and the portal grew so it was covering the entire room, sucking in Neal, Zelena, and the Charmings' son.

Emma picked up Henry's phone from the forest floor. She muttered a few colorful words before looking up at Robin. "He must've known I could track his phone. Call Regina, I'll get ahold of my parents. It seems like a road trip is going to have to be arranged."

Robin opened his mouth to reply, but was interrupted by Arthur entering the clearing, his son in his arms. "Gold sent the Charmings, Zelena, Hook, and Neal through a portal. I don't know where to."

Robin nodded. "Okay. We'll get Belle and figure out where they went. Emma," he turned to the savior, "you, Regina, and Jane go find Henry and Violet. You need to get to him before Gold does."

"We will," Emma promised. "I'm not letting Gold lay a finger on my son."

|Boston|

Henry and Violet boarded a bus that would take them to New York and more importantly, Neal's apartment. Henry stuck his hand in his pocket and rubbed his thumb over the rugged crystal to make sure it was still there. He and Violet sat in the back of the bus in the hopes that everyone would ignore them.

"Do you really think this will work?" Violet whispered as the bus started to move. "That we can keep all of the happy endings safe?"

"It's like my mom said; 'Heroes always have hope,'" Henry replied. "We just need to have hope that we can save all of the happy endings."

Violet nodded. "Then let's hope this bus gets to New York before your moms can stop us."

|Unknown Land|

Killian landed on grass. He groaned and rolled over, grabbing his shoulder, where he had hit the ground hardest. David cane through the portal right afterwards and landed with a thump next to the pirate.

Killian allowed his head to fall back onto the ground. He had no idea where the Crocodile had sent them and at the moment, the grass seemed more comfortable than trying to walk with a bruised shoulder.

David stood up and looked around. The others cane tumbling through the portal a few feet away. He rushed over to Snow and hugged her.

"Where are we?" Zelena asked. She stumbled, but Snow caught her.

"You need to sit down."

"No, I'm fine."

"Zelena, you just gave birth five minutes ago. You should still be in the hospital!"

"Well maybe if Gold hadn't decided to throw away everything he's worked so hard for, I'd be happy with my son and Arthur right now!" Zelena shouted.

"Look, we just need that wand so we can make a portal back," Neal said.

Killian walked over to the group, a grim look on his face. He held up the Sorcerer's wand, which had snapped in half on its way through the portal. "Unless Zelena can fix it, we're stuck."

Zelena took the wand and looked at it. "Oh, yeah, let me just find some duct tape. Maybe I can fix your face while I'm at it."

"Can you fix it or not?" David asked sternly.

"Maybe you should fix the bumper on that awful truck of yours," Zelena shot back. She sighed. "Yes, I can fix it, but I need the right potions, none of which I have right now."

"So I guess we've got some quality time in..." Killian looked around, "wherever we are."

"We'll stick together and try to figure it out," Snow decided. "We don't want a repeat of what happened in the Underworld. We need to stay together."

"Well then," David began walking. "Let's figure out what land we're in."
