Chapter One | After
❃
Regina's House, the Next Day
❃
The house was too big and too quiet and held too many memories for Regina's liking. She had wrapped herself in a blanket and was now curled up on the couch. Why did everyone she love have to leave? Roland and Meg didn't deserve to lose their father, especially since Meg had just been reunited with him two months before.
But Robin was gone, and there was no way to fix it. No way to bring him back. No way to trade a life for his (not that Regina wanted to trade an innocent life for Robin's).
Meg, Roland, and Henry were all at Emma's house. Although, knowing Emma, she would leave them with Hook and come break Regina's door down if the former Queen didn't show her face soon. But Regina couldn't bring herself to care.
As if on cue, there was a loud knock on Regina's door that was accompanied by Emma's voice. "REGINA!"
Regina didn't attempt to respond.
A few seconds later, she heard the door fly open and felt the frigid wind blast into her house. "Regina, where are you?!"
"Go away!" Regina shouted in response.
Emma slammed the door shut. "No. Not without you." She entered the living room and sat down next to Regina. "Look, I know this is hard, but you have kids who need you."
"Henry has you and the rest of his abnormally large family," Regina muttered.
"And what about Meg and Roland?"
The house was silent for a few seconds before Emma continued speaking, "You are the closest thing either of them have to family, and they're still counting on you to act as their mother. I know you aren't technically a parent to either of them, but Zelena and Marian are both gone, so you are who they have left, Regina."
"I can't raise them without him."
"You raised Henry on your own for the first ten years of his life and despite what I may have thought when I first arrived in Storybrooke, you were a wonderful mother to him, and you still are. And I know you're hurting right now, but it will get better."
"Easy for you to say. You were able to go save Hook."
"I lost Neal--"
"Neal is not a valid argument!" Regina snapped. "A day and a half after you lost him, you were eating off Hook's face outside of Granny's! I know you loved him once, but you were over him by the time he died."
"No, I wasn't. I was reckless when he died. If Zelena had been defeated when Neal died, I would have drug you all to the Underworld to bring him back, because I still love him and it kills me everyday that I can't do anything about the fact that my son does not have his father anymore!"
After a few seconds, Regina quietly said, "I'm sorry. ...Can I come with you to see Roland and Meg and Henry?"
Emma nodded and wiped a tear from her eye. "Yeah. Yeah, Roland said he really wanted to see you."
"Okay. I have to go to the bathroom real quick and then we can leave."

Emma's House
❃
Meg opened the door to see Emma and Regina standing outside, Regina still wrapped in her blanket. She managed a small smile.
"Hi," Meg greeted. She stepped aside to allow Emma and Regina to enter the house.
Emma led Regina into her kitchen, where Hook was attempting to serve food to all three kids and Meg and Henry were obviously just laughing at him and not offering to help. When Roland saw that Regina had entered the room, he jumped up out of his chair and ran over to her. "'Gina!"
"Roland." Regina bent down and picked the young boy up. "How are you?"
Roland looked down. "I don't know."
"Well it looks like Emma and Hook are making you lunch?"
Roland grinned. "Yeah! But Killy says it's not fair because he only has one hand. Hey 'Gina?"
"Hmmm?"
"Can Meg and I still live with you? Or do we have to stay here?"
Roland's question caught Regina off guard. "Of course you can still stay at my house. You and Meg can stay there as long as you like, okay?"
Roland nodded. "Okay!" Regina set Roland down and he climbed back up to his spot at the table. Meg glanced up at Regina and the former Queen knew she had been crying from the redness in her eyes. But Meg didn't say anything and Regina didn't want to push her. Henry also seemed down and hadn't said anything since Regina had entered Emma's house, but it didn't look like he had actually been crying.
Looking at Roland, Meg, and Henry made Regina's hand go to her stomach by instinct. She couldn't do it. Regina glanced over at Emma, "I... I have to do something."
Regina turned and left Emma's house. She had let Emma convince her to ride in the yellow bug, so she had to walk to Gold's shop. Regina swung the door open and the bell dinged. Gold looked up to see who his customer was and was surprised to see Regina out of her house so soon.
"Can I help you with something?"
"I need an infertility curse."

A Week Earlier
❃
All of the signs were there and even though it hadn't been quite as long as she would have liked since Meg's return from the Underworld, Regina was shaking with anticipation as she paced the bathroom floor. Two minutes was far too long.
But when the two minutes was up, Regina had trouble forcing herself to look at the test. When she finally picked it up, the results were staring her in the face.
Positive.
Regina and Robin were going to have a baby!
A knock on the door sounded and Regina made the pregnancy test vanish. "You okay in there?" Robin's voice cane from the other side of the door.
"Yeah," Regina called back. She wasn't quite sure she was ready to tell Robin yet because there was the looming threat that something could go wrong. Regina opened the door to see her fiancé standing on the other side. "Hello."
"Hello, Milady." Robin pulled her into a kiss. "One month," he whispered.
Regina smiled. Robin was being a bit generous about how long there was until the wedding, but it was close enough. "One month."

Mr. Gold's Shop, Present Day
❃
"And why would you need that, dearie?" Gold asked, not sure he wanted to provide what Regina was asking for.
"I have my reasons. Now do you have one, or should I just go make it myself?"
Gold stepped out from behind the counter. "You already took and infertility curse, did you not? And now that Robin's gone, why on earth would you need another?"
Regina managed to stop herself from flinching when Gold said Robin's name. "I just do. So help me or don't, it's not your problem why I need one."
"Actually, seeing as we're directly related, it is my problem. And if my suspicions are correct," Gold took another step towards Regina and Regina stepped back from him, "I'm going to be a grandfather."
Regina took another step back from Gold. "A-and why would you think that?"
"Because, dearie, why else would you need an infertility curse? And as your father, I must not allow you to curse yourself again."
"Fine," Regina spat. "Have it your way. I'll go make my own." She turned and walked out of the shop, heading for her vault in the woods.
Belle stepped out from the back. "Are you going to tell someone?" She asked.
Gold spun around to face his wife. "Of course," he lied. "But Evelyn is still here."
"Tell you what, you watch Evelyn and I'll go tell Emma. She's sleeping so please don't wake her." Belle passed Gold and exited the shop just as Regina had not even a minute before. Gold sighed. So now he was left with a baby and the knowledge that Regina was off to get rid of her own unborn child because losing Robin was too painful.

Emma's House
❃
Emma was about to go check on Regina when someone knocked on her door. "Emma! Emma, get out here!"
Belle.
Emma hurried over to the door and opened it. Before she could even ask what Belle needed, she started talking. "Regina came to Rumple asking for an infertility curse and we think it's because she's pregnant. Emma, she's going to kill her child!"
Emma was frozen for a few seconds before she turned back to face the inside of her house. "Killian! Belle and I have to go somewhere! Watch the kids, alright?!"
A muffled, "Okay, love you!" came from the kitchen and Emma shut the door. She followed Belle into Gold's car and the car sped off towards the forest.
"Where is Regina at now?" Emma asked as Belle sped down the road.
"Her vault, I assume. She said something about making the curse herself if Rumple wouldn't do it for her."
Emma nodded. "Sounds about right. I can't believe she would do something so stupid!"
"She's suffering, Emma," Belle explained. "Try to be gentle with her. As angry as you might be, that anger is not going to help her feel better."
❃
The Vault
❃
Emma and Belle burst into the room to see Regina adding a deep red liquid to a cauldron.
"Stop!" Emma shouted. "Regina, don't!"
Regina turned around with a confused expression on her face. "Don't what? This potion just dissolves stuff I don't need anymore."
"I don't believe you." Emma stepped closer and noticed her friend looked different than before. Less broken. "You went to Gold asking for an infertility curse."
"Why would I do that?"
"I don't know!" Emma snapped. Belle nudged her and Emma took a deep breath, trying to reign in her anger. "Because you couldn't bear to raise a child of Robin's without him by your side."
If possible, Regina's expression turned even more confused than it was before. "Robin? Robin who?"
