Chapter Four | No Rest for the Wicked

The Underworld, Twelve Hours Earlier

Zelena and Arthur had been in Tartarus for approximately seven hours when they appeared in the Throne Room, across from Hades, who was sitting in his throne. "You're time is up," he said boredly.

"What?" Zelena asked. "You just banished us to Tartarus!

Hades shrugged. "Persephone never specified how long you had to be in Tartarus for. You two are free to roam around the Fields of Punishment now." Keeping the same bored expression on his face, Hades waved his hand and Zelena and Arthur were transported to the Fields of Punishment.

"What was that about?" Arthur asked.

"No idea. But if he's allowed us here, we can escape. I need revenge."

"And what's your brilliant plan this time?"

"I need another child."

"Well that's just great."

"No," Zelena interrupted. "I need a child of my sister's, preferably newborn."

"If you haven't noticed, her soulmate is trapped in the Underworld."

"Which is why I have this," Zelena pulled a vial of a milky white liquid from her pocket. "Water from the River Lethe. I can use this to make a potion to make my sister forget all about her wretched thief. She'll move on, have a child with someone else, and boom! I'll take him or her and raise them as my own."

Arthur nodded slowly. "It might just work."

"Then let's head to the Overworld and start making this potion."

The Vault

The potion had just finished cooling when Regina entered her vault. Zelena spun around to face her half-sister. "You look terrible," she said without a hint of sympathy in her voice. Although for once, she wasn't lying. Regina's eyes were red and she was shivering despite the fact that she was wrapped in a blanket.

Regina narrowed her eyes. "What are you doing here? Please tell me you aren't Gold trying to scare me out of this."

"Afraid it's really me." Zelena poured the potion she had made into a goblet and offered it to her half-sister. "Drink?"

"Never."

Zelena shrugged. "Why are you down here anyways?"

Regina tensed. "None of your business."

"But we're family."

"Then tell me why you aren't in Tartarus."

"Oh, you know," Zelena picked up a spoon and stirred the potion around a bit. "When a man has a crush on you, you should always take advantage of him."

"Oh," Regina smiled sarcastically, "so is that what you're doing to Arthur?"

Zelena rolled her eyes and avoided answering Regina's question. "Tell me, sis, are you down here to do something... dangerous? Because Robin is gone and you can never, ever, see him again?"

Regina clenched her fists. "Get out of here. What I'm doing is my business and my business only."

"Very well." Zelena lunged at Regina and while Regina was frantically shouting at her to get back, Zelena poured the potion in Regina's mouth. The former Queen instantly sank to the ground, groaning in pain.

"It's not supposed to hurt," Zelena mused.

"Yeah, and I'm not supposed to be consuming any potions at the moment," Regina managed. "What is this?"

"It's to make you forget. Ta-ta."

Regina's eyes widened. "NO! NO, I CAN'T FORGET ABOUT HIM!" But it was too late. Regina fell unconscious and Zelena smiled.

"Perfect." With a wave of her hand, the potion was cleaned up and Regina's engagement ring was in Zelena's hand. "See you around, sis. ...If you remember."

Zelena's Cabin

Zelena materialized in a cloud of green smoke, causing Arthur to jump back a bit. "A little warning would be nice," he muttered.

"Oh, shut up." Zelena pressed a kiss to Arthur's lips. When she pulled away, she held up Regina's engagement ring as if it were a trophy. "The memories are gone. Now all we can do is wait."

"We'll need to keep an eye on the town," Arthur said. "But obviously we can't walk around as ourselves..."

Zelena thought for a moment. "I think I have a solution. I'll spy on Storybrooke like I did last time. Through the eyes of someone else."

"And who would that be?" Arthur raised an eyebrow.

"Someone who has just enough interaction with those dreadful heroes that I can spy on them. But not too much interaction because they'll know something is up..." Zelena snapped her fingers. "I've got it!"

Emma's House

Meg was staring up at the ceiling, unable to fall asleep. She was lying on an air mattress in Henry's bedroom because neither one of them wanted to sleep alone and no matter how many petty arguments they had, Henry and Meg had begun to draw strength from each other as if they were full siblings.

"You still awake?" Henry whispered from his bed.

"Yeah," Meg answered.

"I keep thinking about Mom. She's already lost Robin and Daniel both, I don't think she can lose this child without going all Evil Queen again."

"Which is why we're going to help protect it."

"Yeah, because they'll totally let us put ourselves in danger," Henry replied sarcastically.

"Magic, remember?" Meg reminded Henry. As if to emphasize her point, she summoned a ball of light that lit up Henry's room with a soft green glow. She put the light out and continued talking, "There's got to be some way to get Dad back, isn't there?"

"I don't-- maybe. There might actually be. I don't know what it is yet, but there is a possibility..."

"How do you know that if you don't know how we could get him back?"

"Back when we were in the Underworld, the Seer was in the Fields of Asphodel with us," Henry explained. "She was rambling about a bunch of different things, but she told me I needed to have hope. She said... 'He won't make it, but have hope'. And Merlin was acting all weird around us like he knew something bad that we didn't. And he refused to tell my dad and I anything. Do you think...do you think it's possible they knew Robin's fate this whole time?"

Meg waited a moment before answering because her anger had suddenly flared at Merlin and the Seer even though she hadn't been there. If they had just said something, maybe Robin wouldn't be gone-- but no. The future would play out how it should one way or another. "It is very possible," Meg finally said. "And if the Seer told you to have hope, then that is what we will do. We'll have hope that there's some way to bring Dad back."
