Thunder Will Rumber
Hey guys, I apoligize for being late on my weekly updates, so I hope this chapter makes up for it. (Honestly, I'm only like 3 hours late for my Sunday dead-line) :P anyway: enjoy.
Chapter 3: Thunder will Rumble and Shake.
Kurai was seriously doubting her plan now. Natsu had kindly walked her home, and she hated doing what she had to do, but it was to repay for all she was given, it was the least she could do.
She looked at herself. She saw herself in the mirror, but behind her eyes she saw the horrors she had witnessed.
She let out a shaky breath. She had to do this. She got ready in the morning, and ate a peach. She quickly went to the guild. Standing outside, she took a hasty breath and plastered a shock, yet a little hopeful face.
She pushed open the doors and stumbled in. The stumble was an accident, she had leaned in to much and fell. Everyone looked at her, especially Natsu.
"I have an announcement, and please bare with me!" She annouced, squeezing her eyes shut. I'm so sorry Natsu! She thought "I think their might be a way to being Lucy back!"
She waited to hear yelling and protests, but everyone was too stun to speak. Erza stood aburtly, knocking her chair over. She watched Kurai carefully. She hoped they did see through her lie.
Natsu stood too, and Gray stood up. They all watched her. Gray was the first to recover his voice. "How?" He asked desperately. She gave then a pained expression. She hurried to the board.
They promised it would be here. She looked for it, everyone's eyes following her. She took a deep breath and went up stairs. Someone gasped. S-Class wizard trials were only for Erza, Gildrats, and Mira, and Laxus only.
She let out a breath if relief as she snatched it off the board. She rushed to the balcony. "Here!" She exclaimed.
"How'd you'd know about an S-Class quest?" Mira whispered, but no one heard as she came running down.
"I spoke to some . . . Spirits, this is the guy. I can't tell you much, just that there's a chance we can get her. If we stop him." Natsu rushed to her. "Natsu," she whispered as he it an inch away from her face. She stopped breathing as his eyes searched in her's. He grabbed the flyer and read over it.
"How do you know?" He asked. She flinched.
"I told you yesterday, I can only give you that answer, but I still don't know the questions. Right now, their broad statments, if I could just get the questions. . ." She said.
"Stop lying," he growled lowly. she flinched. "You say it's about a dragon you can't talk about, you magically know that we can bring Lucy back yet all this 'I can't understand the answer till I know the question' crap. Who are you?" Kurai looked at him and smiled saddly.
"I can't tell you," she said.
"Seems like there's a lot you can't tell me." She took a deep breath.
"Do you want to save her or not?" She saw the strife in his eyes. She hated making him feel bad, for lying to his face, but she had no choice.
Natsu looked at her carefully. Then he nodded real slowly. He looked at Erza and Gray. They came over. He showed them the flyer. Capture some evils man. No reward, no picture, noting other than; "Malus: Dangerous, for only best of wizards." And some unclear directions.
"There's no reward," Natsu said suspiciously to Kurai.
"Exactly, it's a hint. The reward is there if you know where to find it. The reward is Lucy!" She exclaimed.
"Alright, but let's not give our hopes up." Erza said. She obviously didn't believe Kurai, but something told Kurai that she wanted too. "The dead are meant to stay dead, and Lucy might not want or be able to come back." Kurai almost cringed.
"Wait! I wanna come!" Wendy said. Natsu looked down.
"I don't think so Wendy, you're still young, and we might need you here. Besides, if anything happen to you, like. . .Lu-Lucy, I don't think I can bare it a second time." Natsu told her. Gray knelt next to her.
"We just want to to be safe," he told her softly.
"Is it because all I can do is heal?" She asked. He shook his head. "Because I can roar, and use wing attack, and- and" she started chocking.
"I think that's more than Natsu can say," Gray said. Wendy laughed, rubbing her eyes.
"Hey!" Natsu protested. Gray ruffled her hair as stood up.
"Shall we leave?" He asked.
"I really wanna catch the next train!" Natsu said, which surprised them.
"You?"
"Yes! We need to get Lucy as fast as possible!" Erza frowned.
"We can go now, if you-" she began.
"Perfect!" Natsu exclaimed. He grabbed Erza's and Gray's hand and dragged them out the door.
"Don't forget me!" Happy complained, flying out to follow them. Kurai nodded and looked to Mira. Mira nodded and Kurai ran to follow them.
She hated to betray them, but she needed them. If not, she was sure to fail. She caught up with them and they waited at the train station. The flyer barley had details. Kurai wish the thunder could have been clearer. She didn't know exactly where either, but she was riding on all her hoped.
They finally picked a destination they thought could possibly be it, and bought their train tickets.
Kurai then heard loud sobbing and turned to the station's door.
"Beloved Gray!" Cried a voice. Kurai looked at Gray, who blushed and tried to hide behind Erza as Juvia ran into the station.
"Gray! Gray!" She spotted Erza. Erza smirked and took a giant step forward revealing Gray. Juvia crushed Gray into a hug. She cried in his chest, soaking his short.
"Juvia wishes she could come along!" She cried.
"Sorry, Juvia, but we have to go now." Kurai said coldly. They had immediately came here. Not even Erza went to pack her food.
"All trains leaving for Hughesville will depart shortly." A voice annouced. Kurai stood and climbed in the train first. She was soon joined by a gagging Natsu, and a calm looking Erza. They watched Gray from the window as he kissed Juvia quickly on the lips before jumping onto the train. Just as he sat, the train jerked forward, and slowly began to move.
"Wanna give Juvia another kiss before you leave?" Kurai asked before the train started accelerating in speed. Kurai sat next to Natsu and across Erza, sitting diagonally from Gray. Gray slumped in his seat and blushed.
"You saw that?"
"I thought it was cute," Erza said, causing him to blush more.
"Can I come to the wedding? And name your kids? And be bridesmaid-" Kurai stopped herself. No, that was the old her. She sat back. Gray and Erza just looked at her. She looked out of the window. She felt Natus shifted in the chair.
"Maybe you guys should rest," Kurai offered. "Save some energy." Erza watched her hesitantly and nodded. Gray watched her longer. She felt his eyes bore into the back of her head till the train had completely left Magnolia. She looked over and all the members of Fairy Tail were asleep.
She felt something weigh down her lap. At first she was grossed out when Natus fell into her lap, using her as a pillow. He mumbled something, and she caught the name "Lucy". She smiled down at him. She stroked his hair.
"In another life, Natsu," she whispered. Happy was long since asleep. He murmured something about love. Kurai smirked at Happy.
"You're a cute, stupid cat." She said. She only heard him purr.
Kurai felt herself also drifting into to sleep. She felt herself cascade into her memories.
"Dying," she whispered. "It's not suppose to end like this!" She protested. The giant looked down at her.
"Oh, how is it suppose to end?" He asked. Somewhere along the sentence, the words died in her throat.
She wanted to scream that you don't die, you live onward in others, but she couldn't. That wasn't living, that was passing on a memory, a scar. She could only hope for the best in death. She realized it's not how you die that matters, it's how you feel after. She felt like a knot that unraveled , curled and twist from her strong and tight days. She saw her own life slip through her hands. Usually, when you died protecting someone, you're suppose to feel brave and fulfilled, but not her. She wanted to finish the job. She wasn't ready to let go, not yet. That's why she selfishly took the job. She thought that she could make up the time, make things right, but there was so little, so much to be done, and she realized how impossible her ending was.
"I am Kurai, I would like to join Fairy Tail." She whispered to herself.
A sudden jolt rocked the train. Kurai woke up and stood, knocking Natsu's head onto the seat. Erza and Gray stood next to her.
"What was that?" Kurai asked.
"I was about to ask the same." Erza muttered. Her had glowed and she had re-quipped a long silver sword. Gray admitted a cold chill to the air. The Train jerked, making Natsu gag. It came to a stop.
"I got this," Kurai said.
"Wait!" Kurai ignored Erza and rushed toward the explosion. She ran along the isle. People screamed and shut their compartment doors. Kurai rushed does the train. She came onto a giant hole in the train. She frowned and look to the smoke. She suddenly felt a blow to her stomach. Like a flash of light, a girl appeared and kicked Kurai. She had Magenta hair in two long pigtails that were curled. She had round glasses over her dark purple eyes. She wore revealing outfits except, she wore stockings to cover her legs. She smiled at Kurai.
Kurai growled and stood. She looked at the woman. "You!" She spat.
The girl placed a hand over her heart. "Me." Kurai put her hand forward.
"I'm going to kill you!" She growled.
"Do try not to over think things," the girl warned.
"Belleaus!" Kurai yelled. "Where is Malus?" She yelled. Belleaus appeared behind her. Kurai swung around auddenly, and bashed the top of Belleaus' head with her fist. Thunder rumbled.
"Ow," she said, rubbing her head. "That hurts!" She disappeared again.
Kurai hands glowed with light. She knew all about Belleaus, one of Malus's lackies. Belleaus is known for her amazing speed, using her magic to disappear and appear at will. She could read the minds of her opponets. If Kurai had lots of luck, and was fast enough, she might be able to hit her. But she had to do so irrationally, without thinking.
But that wasn't like her. She squinted as she saw the air shimmer with gold. Belleause reformed in front of her and laughed. "It's been a while since I saw you." She said. Kurai growled and her hand shook with thunder. She slammed her fist into Belleause. It was a impulsion so Belleause couldn't dodge it. Belleause gave a shaky laugh.
As if it were always planned into her, Kurai fought like a machine. She punched and kicked thunder and lightning. Her powers were a gift, but she still wasn't accustomed to it. They were out of control and where ever she touched, which included Belleause, a shock wave shook the train.
She hoped everyone was still in their rubber seats, or else the would be shocked. Belleause took the hits.
"My, my, you've gotten better!" She said, wiping blood from the coroner of her mouth. Kurai just glared at her. She raised her hand in front of her.
"Thunder Lightning Sword!" She yelled. She was never any good with a sword but she really wanted answers about Malus. Despite her secretly knowing everything about Malus, more than the rest of her accomplices, she was still in the dark about him.
Belleause smirked. "Prefect." She muttered so that Kurai couldn't hear. She smiled and took a stance. "Come at me! The tables have turned!" Kurai rushed forward and swung. She missed. She gasped and felt someone behind her. She swung behind her but Kurai dodged again. Belleause appeared behind her again and kicked her down. She gasped as she fell.
"Kurai!" She heard her name being called. Kurai looked behind her and saw Gray and Erza running towards Kurai and Belleause.
Belleause seemed to sense her distraction, and kicked Kurai again. Kurai growled and stood. Her body began to ache as Belleause laughed.
"Full Magic Speed!" She yelled and her whole body glowed. Suddenly she was all around Kurai, dissolving and appearing with amazing speed. Kurai didn't dodge as Belleause formed a circle around her. One person was kicking her butt like an army.
Kurai lost her sword, which dissolved. She was kicked in the back, no stomach, no her legs were swiped from under her, no she was punched, no she was thrown. Everytime she was hit, or doubled over, or even began to fall, another hit came, pushing her the other way.
She practically collapsed. One more kick under her jaw sent her flying backwards and out the hole in the train.
She was falling through the air, whipping past the train tracks. The train was stopped on a dam. She was tossed hundreds of feet to the still waters below. She knew that when she hit the water, she'd splat. She smiled.
She had failed everyone, but at least she didn't betray Fairy Tail. She spread her arms, and for the second time in her life, she felt like she was air. Her body twisted and suddenly, she could see the water coming for her. She didn't like the thought of splattering against the water, but she didn't oppose death.
Suddenly, her whole body jerked. She thought that maybe she had hit the water, but she didn't feel hurt or cold. She looked up to see the Blue Exceed trying to pull her up. He struggled and she realized falling from 200ft in the air at full speed must take a lot of strength to stop.
"Happy," Kurai whispered.
Happy grunted. "I'm not gonna let you go, Ku-chan." Kurai smiled. She wanted to help him pull her up, but she couldn't fly, so instead spoke words of encouragement to him.
"Kurai, I'll pull you up if you promise to go on a diet when we get back to Fairy Tail." Happy grunted. Kurai pouted.
"I'm not that heavy!" She complained. Happy shot up in the air, being drawn to exhaustion. "Who is that chick?" He asked.
"Belleause, one of Malus's lackeys. She has amazing speed. She can also predict people's move. Combined with those magics and she's almost unstopable."
"Almost?" Kurai nodded.
"Every wizard has a weakness. Her's is she won't use her speed unless she sure of herself. If you don't think about your move, she won't dodge. She can't because she is unable to predict moves without hearing them, first." Happy nodded. "All we need is someone so impulsive and dense she can't even begin to understand their moves."
Happy and Kurai looked at each other for a second. "Natsu!" The both exclaimed.
"Is he still sick?" Kurai asked.
"I think so," Happy told her. She groaned.
"What?" She yelled, outraged. "But the train stopped!"
"It has a kind of long time affect." She crossed her arms over her chest, annoyed.
"How lame is that? Do you think we can snap him back?" She asked.
"We might not have to if Gray and Erza beat that Bell girl." Happy said. She hoped they could, but Gray was a ice make mage. He needed to know what to make before making it. He didn't stand a chance. And Erza was so smart and coordinated that she probably couldn't land a hit. Kurai could only hope Belleause used most of her magic energy while fighting her.
Something told Kurai that is wasn't the latter. When Happy got close enough to the train, Kurai pulled out a long brown whip. It crackled with electricity as Kurai snapped it, Grabbing hold of the Train tracks. Happy let her go as she pulled herself up.
Kurai grunted when she finally got back onto the dam. She stared into the giant hole on the train. Belleause was standing there, looking a little beat up, but Erza and Gray looked worse. They watched her and seemed to realize how strong she was. Kurai hope they would hold on until she got Natsu. She ran and jumped onto the top of the train, unnoticed by any of the other mages. Happy followed her closely. When Kurai got at far enough distance, she brought out her whip again and slashed at the top of the the train. It made a sorta shall slash mark.
"Agh! What are you doing?" Happy asked.
"Making a way inside!" She slashed the other way and now there was and X-mark. She slashed and slashed till she cut all the way through the top. She was feeling extremely tired, but jumped through the small hole.
She heard loud explosions behind her, but paid them no heed as she looked around the isle. She looked at the numbers. She found the one they were at previously. It was the only one that had an open door, and the loudest.
"Agh!" Kurai heard Natsu groan.
"Natsu!" She exclaimed. She and Happy ran to the compartment. She saw Natsu on the floor, face down with his butt in the air. He looked like he was suffocating on his own vomit. "Natsu get a hold of yourself!" Kurai commanded as she shook him. He just groaned.
"Wake up, Erza and Gray are in trouble!" She yelled, he gagged. "I'll tell you all about the dragon I met!" She tried to bait him. "Don't you want to save Lucy?" She whispered. He looked at her, like he was trying registering what she was saying.
"Lucy?" He gagged. She nodded, a small tear rolling down her cheek.
"Yes, you two can be together! You can go on adventures again! You'll see her smile, hear her laugh!" She whispered. She tried helping him stand up, but he was too heavy. She sat him on the chair.
"Tell her you love her, a hundred more times!" She said.
"Love Lucy?" He said. She smiled and nodded but she still felt like she wasn't getting through to him.
"I'm sorry Natsu," she said as she placed a hand over his chest. She scrunched her eyes up hard and felt the electricity run along her arm. Suddenly, Natsu started screaming.
"Agh! Stop! Kurai!" He complained. She pulled back her hand. He stared at her waiting for an explanation. Kurai then slapped him in the face. He gasped.
"What was that for?" He asked. She grabbed him by the shirt front.
"Wer'e under attack! Get out here and help Erza and Gray! You picked the lamest time to get all sick and sappy!" She yelled. "The train has stopped! Go!" She ushered him. He nodded and stood. His hair was standing up and his clothes a little stiff and charred from the shock.
He ran to the door, and Happy flew out with him. She was going to follow him and give it her best shot again, but then Natsu stopped in the door way.
"Thanks, Kurai." He said shyly. She blushed and nodded.
"Go!" He ran up to catch up with Happy. Kurai followed him, brandishing her sword once more. She didn't know if she could take another beating again, but at least this time she wouldn't be alone.
"Belleause!" She yelled running down the isle. They finally caught up. Belleause was standing over Gray and Erza's unconscious boddies. Gray groaned. Natsu looked at her with hatred.
"Don't hurt my friends!" He warned.
"Don't worry," Belleause said with a humored expression. Then suddenly she turned cold, peering at him over her round glasses. In a low voice she said; "I'm going to do a lot more than hurt them." Natsu charged and Belleause dodged it. Kurai slashed her sword but Belleause disappeared.
"Two on one? Now that's hardly fair," she said in a calm voice. Kurai growled at her. She looked at Natsu. He nodded.
She pointed her sword at Belleause. She didn't know exactly what she was doing, it was all just coming to her.
"Now!" She yelled and Natsu faced her.
"Fire Dragon Roar!" He bellowed out his fire and it encircled Kurai's sword.
"Thunder Fire Electric Sword Unison Raid!" She yelled. Belleause stumbled in fear. She knew what exactly was going to happen. Kurai rushed at her like a demon, slashing and rolling. It was completely unorthodox, but it worked. All of her attacks hit Belleause. Belleause looked like she was trying to with stand. She crossed her arms over her face, trying to protect herself, but the hits kept coming.
Belleause cried out in pain. That's when Kurai stopped. Her sword was beginning to dissolve and the flames were going out. Kurai threw the sword in the air were it broke into golden light.
Thunder will Rumble and Shake, Kurai thought as she heard a low thundering sound.
Kurai looked at Belleause, who was still standing. Belleause was whimpering. Her face was hidden behind her arms. Suddenly her knees buckled, and she fell to the ground.
"It's not over," she warned Kurai. "Malus especially wants to meet you." She then closed her eyes and slipped into unconsiousness.
"That was kind of lame," Natsu said.
"What? You came at the end of the fight! I fell out a train! They're on the floor! You were sick!" But Natsu didn't listen to her rants. He walked over to Erza and picked her up so that she was leaning against him.
"We can't stay here," Natsu warned. Kurai nodded and helped Gray up. She started to follow Natsu and drag Gray. Natsu dragged Erza to the giant hole.
"Okay, well, we still can make it to town by tomorrow evening." Natsu told her. Happy rested on his shoulder. They had to creep carefully along side the train. They were worried that it would start moving again. So they hurried.
For the next couple of hours, they walked along the tracks, not wanting to stray too far. From the distance, they heard the train whistle sound.
"Let's break camp," Natsu suggested but there was nothing to break. Kurai gathered some wood and Natsu lit it. Happy went searching for some berries. Natsu laid down Erza and Kurai laid Gray next to her. Kurai was feeling bone tired.
"Maybe you should rest," Natsu told her. "You did spend a lot of magic energy." She nodded, but she didn't want to tell him how she didn't need to eat or sleep to survive. As long as she was not harmed in battle, she couldn't die. Still, her arms hurt, so she took the opportunity to lie down and ease her aching muscles.
"Natsu?" She asked, looking at the sky. She could only see the North Star because the sun was still setting. Where they camped, they were completely surrounded by trees in a small clearing. The tree blocked everything unless you looked directly up, kinda like a bowl effect.
"Yeah, Kurai?" He asked, looking away from the fire.
"Do you trust me?" She asked. She waited for him to answer, but he didn't. She looked at him and he only stared back at the fire. She took that as a no. She laughed a little. "Yeah, I wouldn't trust myself either." She raised her hand, like she could actually touch the north star. She squinted at it.
"I'm going to tell him," she said too quietly for him to hear. She wasn't talking to anyone except them. When no thunder opposed, or lightning struck her down, she took it as permission. "Natsu, do you wanna know about the dragon I met?" She asked. He looked at her. She didn't look away from the star.
She pointed to it. "It was just like that star." She said. He frowned, not understanding.
"How?" He asked, scooting closer to her. She smiled at it.
"It looks at us, right? But it can't see us, even though we see it. That's how the dragon was. He was pure white with scales that glistened blue. He was mighty and scary, yet graceful and gentle at the same time." Natsu nodded, just like Igneel, he thought. "When we met, he bestowed my blessing," the one when she could only fall in battle, but she didn't tell him that. "But he didn't talk to me or even acknowledge me. He had kind of a spokes person, or representative. The man told me about the dragon. Then what I was to do, how, and why. I was to keep everything a secret, trust no one, and keep distant. The dragon bestowed the blessing and that was it." She let out a jagged breath. "I'm just waiting for him to strike me down for even telling you this. Just coming to Fairy Tail is a breach. But if I am to succeed, I need help." She whispered. She was shocked when Natsu took her hand. Not romantically, but friendly. She shuddered. So long since she had felt one's gentle touch.
"What's the mission?" He asked. Shee didn't answer. That was a serious breach she wouldn't even think of telling him. She rolled onto her side, facing away from him.
"Maybe you should sleep, I'm not so tired after all." She told him. She thought he was going to protest, but she soon heard him snoring. She waited and saw Happy return. He carried a ton of berries in his small arms.
"Oh Happy!" She said, collecting them. She tried to spit them equally, but since she didn't need to eat, she split her section into four small ones. She also found some fish in a stream. She could barley get them but with one electric shock, 8 floated to the top. She felt bad immediately, but she gathered them anyways.
She gave everybody two fish and the scoops of berries. Happy ate his immediately. Kurai roasted all the other fish and smashed the berries for each person into a mush.
She held up Erza, who was half conscious. Happy cut the fish with his claws and fed it to her. Kurai boiled some water for them all to drink. The mush was given to Erza, then Gray.
Happy hand fed them the fish. He gently woke up Natsu. Natsu yawned loudly. He had been asleep for two hours. Happy gave him the fish. Natsu gave Happy the heads, though.
Kurai handed him somewater. By the time she had fed everyone, who were finally feeling better, she felt exhausted.
"Kurai, you didn't eat." Happy complained. Natsu frowned at Kurai.
"What? Didn't you eat?" He asked her. She shrugged. She couldn't tell him about the blessing, Draco had forbidden her. Draco was the Dragon, and he was also a constellation in the stars. He hadn't told Kurai his real name, just one he adopted from the Greeks.
"I'm not hungry," she said shrugging it off, cursing in the inside. She came up with such terrible lies. Natsu and Happy seemed unsatisfied, but accepted her answer. It was a clear message of "I don't want to talk about it".
"You should sleep," Natsu offered. "I'll wake you up in a couple of hours." She nodded, this time not complaining.
She soon fell asleep. She was just awaiting the day she could finally go back. Everything will be as it should be, they had told her. Draco had just watched. Kurai just had to wait until the day came.

Hey guys! Sorry for the short chapters, hope you like it! I try I make the names in my story relate at least a little. Each name I make up is at least a little connected. I have happy news. I have figure out who Natsu's parents are. I've been watching this anime recently that is totally awesome, like basically rivialing Fairy Tail. Natsu's parents are. . . Sasuke and Sakura. :/ I'm more of a NarutoxSakura fan, but it makes sense, and Natsu is named after Naruto is some twisted way? Hey summer in japanese will work, and a win-win for uncle Naruto... seriously though, awesome show. I like to write all my chapters before hand, so that (god forbid) i get writers block, i can still feed you some intel. Wrote this like Apirl-March, before I started Naruto. Guess who else has a lightning blade? I was thinking about changing the description, but that would leave the story cunky and less smooth because of the details that revolves around the details... hard to eplain, but sorry for that. I'll clear your minds and say, it isn't Kakashi's Chidori, quiet diffrent in fact. Anyway, hope you like the next chapter :)
Please stay tuned: and don't forget;
