Family

So weird how I wrote this like a week ago (could have sworn I pushed the publish button buttttttt) and then I wrote the author's not on the bottom from June. And I'm like; you know me, I did have a spectacular summer! Thank you! I caught up on Naruto, started season 2 of FT and SAO, watched Death Note, started Rave... anyway I have no one to thank other than myself. And Netflix. And Hulu. And my mom cause I'm broke.

I'm sorry I totally forgot to publish this on Sunday! My friend was over, the very wonderful Sara Money, and we were just in that "party hardy" mood! we got out the booze and vodka, smoked the weed. No, we're nerds you see, so we just watched Supernatural and Anime like the social people we are.

Ha, my boyfriend (I know, suprising?) was so jelly that she came over and he didn't. I was like; "aww, it's okay, you can come next time we have our Nerd-Fest".

On that thought, here you go! Chapter 12 (only 12? When i write this I feel like I'm writing Lord of the Rings until I read it and I'm like "god, I'm just such a writing fail") Anyway, enjoy!

Chapter 12- Because We're Family

All too soon, Lucy felt someone shake her awake. She wanted nothing more to go back to her dreams where everything was happy and great. Lucy dug deeper under her covers.

"Come on, Luce. We're going to go save Levy." Lucy eyes widened. She was wasting valuable time. She tore back her covers, scaring Natsu out of his wits.

"Luce, what are-" he didn't finish because Lucy shooed him out to get ready. She changed into something quickly, checking to make sure she had everything. Her whip, her keys, and her money.

She brushed her fingers through her hair quickly, realizing the others were waiting on her. She closed the room door behind her, looking at the five others (and three cats) who patiently watched her. She set her suitcase down beside her and looked at them. Nodding, they all headed toward the stairs.

Another thing they needed; transportation. They searched for anyone willing to take them up the mountain, but only one person offered to take them to the base at most. After the big fight, the locals were superstitious about going up.

Their ride was a wagon, not very surprising in an underpopulated city. They rode in the back with a few piglets, and two adult pigs. Nastu doubled-over immediately, clutching his stomach. Gajeel gagged covering his mouth falling next to a sleeping pig, who glanced at him lazily and returned to sleeping. Wendy clutched her head feeling a slight headache but not as bad as the boys. Lucy watched the rode pass from the back. Her butt ached from the hard wood and strawing poking up her. . .

Erza had a vigilant look in her eyes, but it was hard to take it seriously when she had a platter of cheesecake in her lap, chewing it thoughtfully and slowly. Gray was playing with his magic, creating different shapes. Lucy watched him create the Fairy Tail emblem, a large snow flake, a small Happy, and even a perfect heart. Lucy swore she could see Juvia inscribed into it, but then Gray changed it into a little snowman.

This entertained Lucy as they made their way to the mountain's base. The silence was bliss, but the pig smell was thick, and the ride was bumpy. Lucy was grateful for the lift, but the ride was terrible and she couldn't wait until they had gotten off. Lucy jumped off quickly, Happy flying over her head. Erza and Gray jumped out next, and Lucy helped Wendy down. Gray and Wendy dragged Gajeel off, who was a little delirious and very nauseous. Erza and Lucy were left with Natsu, dragging him off with little to no difficulty.

"Thank-you," Lucy told their driver, who tipped his hat. She gave him 10 jewels and hurried over to her friends. They looked down at the green Natsu and purple Gajeel. They couldn't wake them up. Gray froze them, Wendy tried to heal them, and Erza yelled at them. There wasn't much Lucy could do, and she kinda missed her lightning power. The others stared at her, waiting for her to try something, but she just shrugged.

"Can't you call out a spirit, like your scary lady?" Happy asked, pulling on Natsu's ear with no response. Lucy thought.

"No, i would need water. I know!" She exclaimed. She knelt near Gajeel. She slapped him across the face. He gagged as a red mark appeared on his face. "Wake-up! Levy is waiting." He seemed to look at her this time.

"Levy?" He asked. She nodded, smiling. Then she slapped him harder. "Ouch! Bunny girl, what-?"

"That's for wasting time, we gotta save Levy." He snapped out of his nausea and nodded, getting up. Now, Lucy thought- turning to Natsu, here's the real challenge. She gulped and knelt next to him. She wanted to slap him, hard as possible, but she couldn't. Something held her back, so instead she got real close to his ears and whispered; "I got this pancake, dripping with syrup and coated in butter. Stacked high, if only i, Lucy, could find someone to finish this. . ." Natsu's nose twitch.

"Pancakes?" He asked, sound muffled, probably choking on his own vomit. Lucy nodded eagerly. She smiled, then raised her hand. She scrunched her eyes. She took a deep breath.

"I'm sorry, Natsu." And she swung it low, waiting to feel the contact of skin and the satisfying sound of skin slapping on skin (A/N: Yes, kinda dirty but that's not what i meant :P) but she didn't hear it. She felt someone grip her wrist. She opened her eyes to see a serious looking Natsu. She blushed and stood. "Finally, we have to save Levy, let's go." She said. He nodded, and got up.

And so the began the journy of climbing the mountain. It was much easier now knowing where to go, not to mention a Sky Dragon Slayer. Whenever places looked unreachable, they just levitated to the spot. They couldn't go too far, transporting 6 people took a lot of energy from Wendy. So, when dawn started to set they were almost at the top. They knew they only needed to look for clues, so they weren't as careful as before. The fire was scattered, but bigger. One person was needed for watch, and- thanks to Erza- they had lots of food. Her mountain of luggage may have not rode along, but the food sure did.

So the friends sat around the fire, hoping to distract themselves from the urging need to save Levy. They told Lucy stories of what they had done during the last year and a half she has been absent. It crumbled her heart into a million pieces when she realized that her friends were a lot worse off than she had imagined. She wanted to cry out and hug them each. She had truly missed them, but she had thought she had been thinking of them when she supposedly "died". But, maybe she should have told them she was alive. Then again, they'd kill themselves searching for her. She became selfish though. She thought that if she had changed her appearance and stayed distant enough that she could meet them again and she wouldn't hurt them when she died. She thought that she was doing them good, but she was really doing it to keep herself from becoming hurt. They each would have given their lives to find out she was okay, or spend time with her. Yet she was there for a year, and not once did she think that she was hurting them, day by day.

"Tell us about your training, Lucy." Erza said softly. That's when Lucy realized that just coming back to them was enough to make up the time. They had gotten their second chance. Yet Lucy didn't really know who to thank. The King? Time? She and her friends? She smiled, hiding away her thoughts.

"Well, i began a year ago. It took me 6 months to be able to work properly, when i finally became fully healed. At first it was terrible. I constantly slept, but i was always tired. I couldn't eat and i couldn't stand, walk, or even talk. My spirits were there for me though, and to them I am grateful." She said, thinking of her friends thoughtfully. "Then one day, i was lead to the celestial dragon, Draco. Draco told me that he too was a constellation in the sky, how the Greeks had given him his legend and name. He didn't speak to me directly, he had someone to talk from him to me. He bestowed me a blessing, i couldn't die. Not ever, except in battle. My wounds however became more fatal. Draco taught me lightning magic. I wasn't a dragon slayer because the magic wasn't meant to kill dragons. I trained somewhere here, though i can't remember where exactly." She looked down at the fire, all eyes on her. She remembered the struggles she had to overcome and the victorious feelings she had felt. The fire popped softly. "I would also like to apologize to you guys. I thought- i thought i was keeping from hurting you by staying away," a tear slid down her cheeks until she looked up. She met Natsu's eyes. He was so poker-faced that Lucy couldn't read him. She almost let out a sob. Then Natsu stood, walking around and envoloping her in a giant hug. She hugged him back. "I missed you guys so much." She pulled back, and there was a faint smile on everyone's lips. "Without you guys, without Fairy Tail, especially without this to remind me," she said, holding up her Fairy Tail mark. "I would have failed. You gave me the strength i didn't have." Natsu smiled at her.

"Because we're family."
