Chapter 56

I stirred the next day with my head pounding hard right behind my eyes, and I couldn't help but groan in annoyance while I continued to stir, and my wolf growled out his frustration but didn't try to force me to shift into my wolf form.

Oh, thank Goddess...

"Young Alpha?" someone asked, stirring to my left as soon as I made that noise, and I turned to look that way and opened my eyes to see Aenes was beside me. His brows were furrowed, and a small frown was on his face while he looked me over, making sure that I was ok. "Young Alpha? Are you ok?"

I offered him a tight smile and slowly nodded while I closed my eyes and turned to look the other way with a small grimace on my face, and Aenes frowned and slowly blinked, looking unamused because he knew that I was lying and was not ok.

"Are you lying to me?" he asked and raised an eyebrow in question.

I grimaced and pressed my lips into a thin line while I slowly nodded. "Yes," I said, my voice barely above a whisper. I cleared my throat and licked my lips when my voice cracked, but I didn't look at him. "My head hurts right behind my eyes, and it feels like something is pounding against it and wants to be let out."

"Is it your wolf?" he asked and raised an eyebrow in question while he studied me. "Is he trying to get out?"

I shook my head no and closed my eyes tighter together, biting back a small groan of annoyance. "It's not him, but he does want to be let out," I said, and my voice cracked some more. "It is just a headache that is taking up my whole head."

Aenes slowly nodded and pressed his lips into a thin line. "Do you mind if I take care of that for you?" he asked and cocked his head to the side. "Or do you want to use a healer and pain medication?"

"Pain medication and a healer," I said and shook my head, and I looked at him, opening my eyes before closing them again when the pain became too much. "I don't think that it would be a good idea for you to heal me, even though that is all that I want you to do." Tears pricked the corner of my eyes, and I blinked them back to make sure that they wouldn't fall. "It hurts."

"Then do you want me to go ahead and find your mother and the doctor to check you out? After we get your head taken care of, you can go ahead and go outside to take care of your wolf."

"And go see mate," Regulus growled. "I do not care if I am in control or not, I want to see her."

"Does that mean you aren't going to fight me?" I asked, biting back a small sigh of relief, and my whole body started to relax because I was grateful that he wasn't going to fight me for control if and when we go see our mate.

Oh, thank Goddess...

"No," he grumbled, and I breathed another sigh of relief. He whined and laid his head on his paws, and I could feel his longing to go see her as himself with him in control but wouldn't fight me for it. "I am not going to fight you for control over our body to see her. I would appreciate it if one day we see her as myself where I am in control, but I will not force it."

I bit back a small smile and mentally nodded. "I will do that for you," I promise, earning a small sigh of relief from him. "When she knows about us, then we can do that whenever, but for right now, we have to do this and make sure that she stays safe and unaware."

"Young Alpha?" Aenes asked, and I opened my eyes and looked at him to see that he was looking at me with a small frown on his face. His brows were furrowed, and he looked at me with a concerned look on his face while he tried to figure out what was wrong. "Are you ok? What happened?"

"My head still hurts, but I was talking with my wolf," I said, biting back a tired sigh before I moved a hand through my hair and across my face. "Are you sure that you don't mind getting my mom for me, please? I am not sure if I will be able to contact her until after I shift into my wolf form."

Aenes shook his head and stood. "I do not mind getting her for you," he said. "I will go get her and the doctor. Can you do me a favor and stay in bed, please? We'll be back shortly."

I bit back a tired sigh and slowly nodded. "I'll stay in bed," I said, my voice barely above a whisper. "Thank you, Aenes."

"Of course, Young Alpha," Aenes said. "Excuse me." He cleared his throat and bowed before he walked toward the bedroom door and opened it to reveal my sister standing there with her hand raised as if she was about to knock on the door. "Oh, Melody," he said, not sounding surprised to see her there. "Hello."

Melody hesitated and smiled, lowering her hand until it was by her side. "Hi, Aenes," she said. She cleared her throat while she shifted on her feet, and a look of nervousness and worry appeared on her face. "Is my brother awake?" she asked. "Is he ok?"

"I am ok, Mel," I said before Aenes could say a word, and Melody peeked over his shoulder to look at me. I offered her a tight smile, and she hesitated and smiled at me. "Come in and come here. Are you ok?"

"I am ok," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. She looked at Aenes. "Do you think that I can come in?" she asked and furrowed her brows while she cocked her head to the side.

"Yes," Aenes said and moved out of her way, gesturing for her to step through, and my sister did what she was told to do and walked into the room. "Go ahead and go in, Mel." He turned to look at me. "I will be back with the Luna and then the healer. After that, we will go ahead and let your wolf out. I will be there to make sure that you stay safe when you shift and make sure that there are no troubles with you or your wolf, Young Alpha."

"Thank you," I said, and Aenes nodded before he walked out of the bedroom and closed the bedroom door behind him, and I turned to look at Melody, who decided that she wanted to become a wallflower and not make her way over to the bed where I was lying.

I rolled my eyes and pressed my lips into a thin line. "Come here, Melody," I said coldly and held out my hand for her. "Why are you acting like this?"

My little sister shrugged and bit the inside of her lip. Her whole body was tense, and a look of nervousness appeared on her face. She didn't say a word and stayed where she was, putting her hands behind her back and clasping her hands together as if she didn't want me to see them shake.

I bit back a small, annoyed groan and rolled my eyes, and a small scowl appeared on my face. "Melody," I warned. "Come here, please. I don't know why you are being like this, but stop. I will be fine."

Melody hesitated before she slowly nodded and started to walk over to me. Tears pricked the corner of her eyes, and I couldn't help but roll my eyes and let my scowl grow deeper. She didn't say a word while she made her way over to me, and I watched her.

I opened my arms for her to enter them when she made it to my side, and she walked quicker over to me and practically hopped into bed with me, burying herself to my side. I grunted a bit out of annoyance before I wrapped my arms around her waist and pressed a small kiss to the side of her head.

Tears pricked the corner of her eyes, and she bit back a small sniffle while she hugged me tightly. "I'm sorry," she said, her voice barely above a whisper while she sobbed. "Please, forgive me, T."

"I have already forgiven you, so stop," I softly scolded and pressed another kiss to the side of her head, and I rubbed her arm. "If you had gotten hurt or killed, then I would have been just as messed up as our parents or worse because it would've been my fault."

"But it wouldn't have been, a-"

"Shut up," I said, interrupting her and shaking my head. "I do not know why you are feeling guilty about this. If you continue to do this, then I will smack you until you stop. Is that understood?" I scowled and narrowed my eyes at her, and she moved her head and looked at me.

A small scowl appeared on her face, and she slowly blinked. She didn't say a word, and I couldn't help but bite back a small chuckle while I gave her a cheeky grin.

Finally, she sighed and laid her head on my shoulder, closing her eyes. "Very funny, T," she grumbled coldly, and she pouted with a small sniffle.

"I know," I said and shrugged, biting back a small grimace when my head started to pound again. "I am always funny, even if you do not like it at all or think of me as funny like this."

She huffed and rolled her eyes but didn't say a word while she moved closer to me and wrapped her arms around my waist before we started to doze, waiting for both Aenes and my mom to come back.

Thank Goddess indeed...
