I made it to the top of the cove in no time and saw my brother sitting at the edge with Serenity's clothes and phone in his hands.
Worry filled my eyes when I saw the phone and looked at him with eyes. "Did y-"
Julius snorted and rolled his eyes, interrupting me, and I frowned. "Please," he said. "I might not be nosey, but I am not that nosey." He stood and walked over to me. "Besides, I know that she is yours, and I wouldn't do that to you."
I nodded, feeling relieved that he didn't go through her phone messages. "Ok," I said. "Do you want me to hang onto the stuff while you get situated on my back, or do you think you can handle dealing with both?"
Julius didn't respond and held the stuff out to me. He wanted me to take it so that he could get on my back without breaking anything.
I nodded and took the stuff from him before I knelt down and bent over so that he would be able to get on my back.
Julius quickly got onto my back and got himself situated. "You might want to tuck the phone into a piece of clothing so that it won't fall to the ground on accident," he said while he held out his hand for me to give it to him. "Or for it to get dirty."
I nodded and did what he suggested, stuffing the phone into the shirt before I handed it to him. "Hold onto that tightly," I warned, and my little brother snorted and rolled his eyes.
"I know, Stupid," he said, and I growled playfully at him, barely loud enough for my family, who were still in the cove, to hear. "Now, let's go so that you can see the love of your life."
I rolled my eyes and bit back a small smile. "Very funny," I said dryly, and my brother grinned. "Are you ready?"
"Yes," he said and nodded. "Let's go and see ev-"
"Hello up there," my cousin yelled from the ground. "Are you two ok up there?"
"We are good," I called back. "We're about to come down now."
"Well, come to the edge and say a hi first," my cousin said, "and then you can leave and go down to the ground level. I want to say hi."
My brother grew tense. "Do we have to go to the edge?" he asked. "Are you going to try to get TJ to throw me over the edge?"
I bit back a snort and held back an eye roll. "Please," I said. "I would not do that to you." I stood and patted his leg. "I would throw my shoe at him before I tossed you into the cove."
"Rude," my cousin yelled. "Now, let's go. I want to see you all before you go."
"You can go," Julius said softly, "And then let's go down because I want to go swimming too."
I nodded. "Ok," I said and started to walk towards the edge of the cliff. I raised an eyebrow when I reached the edge and looked at my cousin to see that he was grinning, amused. "Yes?" I asked and raised the eyebrow higher. "Can we help you?"
"Yes," Bryce said and nodded. "What's taking you so long to get back?"
I held back an eye roll and scowled. "It would have been sooner if we didn't get interrupted," I said, and his grin grew wider while I gave him a pointed look. "Now, what do you want?"
'Your girlfriend was worried about you,' Bryce said. "I wanted to make sure that you were ok. Is that so bad?" He raised an eyebrow.
I held back from narrowing my eyes at my cousin and made sure to keep my face neutral, even though all I wanted to do was scowl. I could feel my cheeks turning slightly red, and I was happy that I was far enough so that they couldn't see my cheeks. 'And why is she worried about me?' I asked. "I am fine. Why wouldn't I be fine?" I asked out loud.
I looked at where my mate was sitting and saw that she looked bashful, and she was looking anywhere but at the ledge. "Are you ok, Serenity?" I asked, worried about her safety.
"I'm fine," Serenity said while she didn't look at me. "I am just worried about the wolf, is all..." She trailed off and cleared her throat while she shrugged. "I know that you said that he was fine, but..." Again, she trailed off and shrugged.
"Wait, which wolf?" Bryce asked and looked between the two of us. Confusion and worry filled his eyes, and he took a deep breath to make sure that we were still alone and safe.
My family started to wade towards shore, the thought of protecting their Luna from an unknown threat strong.
'It's fine,' I said. 'There is no danger.' "It's the light gray one that she is worried about appearing out of nowhere."
Bryce blinked and blinked again while he looked at me, confused. He stopped going towards shore as well as my other family members when I told them that she wasn't in danger and was safe. "Why would she be afraid of that one?" he asked. He looked at her. "Why are you afraid of that Wolf?"
Serenity looked down and shrugged. "I don't know," she said honestly. "I have met him once, and he was kind, but after talking about him for a bit..." She shrugged again while she trailed off, and my heart ached.
"You don't have to worry about him," Rosie said. "In all honesty, he can't even hurt a fly. I've met him a few times, and I want to say that everyone here has met him multiple times too."
There were a few murmurs of agreement from my family members.
"But I do have to disagree that he can't hurt a fly," Julius said. He grinned cheekily at me when I turned my head to the side and looked at him through narrowed eyes. "If the fly hurts his family and friends, then he will chomp on it."
I rolled my eyes and scowled. "Very funny," I said, and my brother's grin grew wider. "I respect him and trust him," I said while I looked at my mate. "He and I share a close bond with each other. If I like someone and trust them, then he will like them and trust them too."
"Even if he doesn't know that person," Bryce said. "Most of the wolves here are like that. You'll see that they will respect you and will help you if you need it. They listen to the white and black wolf. If they like you, then they won't bother you at all."
Serenity hesitated but nodded while she stayed silent. Worry filled her eyes, and I could tell that she wasn't that convinced.
She didn't want to see me when I was in wolf form.
My wolf whined slightly, and I could tell that he was upset and hurt. He wanted to see her as himself and not through my eyes, but we both agreed that we wouldn't force her to see him.
"We'll make sure he behaves himself if you see him," Bryson said. He pursed his lips and wrinkled his nose while he shrugged. "Well, Mel will make sure that he behaves himself because some of us will be leaving to go home during the week."
"If need be, I can handle him," Ceira said. She looked at me and grinned. "Now, come down, TJ," she said. "bring your brother down, too so that he can swim before we have to go back to the house."
I bit back a sigh and held back an eye roll. "Are you ok with that, Serenity?" I asked and raised an eyebrow while I looked at her. "I promise that it won't take me long."
Serenity's cheeks turned a lighter red, and she looked away while she nodded. "Uh... yes, yes, of course," Seren said before she cleared her throat and looked away. "You can come down the cove. "Do you have my stuff?" she asked and looked at me.
"I have it," Julius said. "I'll make sure that it stays safe while TJ climbs down the wall. I promise that I won't drop it."
I held back an eye roll when he said that but didn't say a word while I waited for my mate to say something. I squeezed his leg in warning, however, and he tightened his grip around me but stayed silent.
"Thank you," Serenity said and nodded, sounding relieved. She cleared her throat and looked at me. "Can you go ahead and start coming down?" she asked softly. "I think it'd be better if you were down here too before..." She shrugged and grimaced.
I pressed my lips into a thin line but nodded. "Ok," I said, "but I promise, he will never hurt you. Do you trust me when I tell you that?" I asked while I stared at her from my spot on the cove, praying that she would say yes.
My mate hesitated before she nodded and looked away. "I do," she said softly, "and one day, I will trust him, but for right now, without meeting him again..." She shrugged and grimaced. "I'll let you know when I meet him again. Ok?"
I bit back a small smile and nodded, grateful that she wasn't too afraid that she wouldn't want to meet my wolf again. "Of course," I said. "Now, if you'll excuse me, both of us will be down there shortly."
And with that, I walked away and started to climb down the cove with my brother on my back, silently itching to let my wolf out and have her meet him again but knowing better when she was expecting me and not him.
Soon... I silently said, calming my wolf. We will see her in that form soon.
But not today.
