Under the Moonlight
You disappeared into the tree line with Jimin. You had gone far enough that the two of you could talk without the worry of waking anyone in the sleeping tents you left behind.
"So, where are you taking me?" You questioned, glancing at him at your side.
"You trust me, right?" Jimin asked with a grin. You didn't really know him well enough, so you gave him an honest answer.
"In theory." You said sarcastically with a laugh as you glanced away, a smile spreading onto your lips.
"Harsh." Jimin replied with a hiss and a fake pained expression. You snickered softly. "Come on." His voice dropped in volume almost as if it were a whisper tossed into the night.
Leaning over, he moved close and wrapped his hand around your own. A sense of warmth you hadn't felt since the night you had gone to dinner with him spread through you. Thankfully, he took the lead, staying a few steps in front of you so he was unable to see you nip at your lower lip. Why did he make you so nervous?
You walked in silence for a few minutes, admiring the dark forest and its sounds.
"We're almost there." Jimin called out in reassurance as he glanced back at you. "You're not getting tired from your 'skillful' rapping you did earlier, are you?" He teased with a smug grin. He was making fun of you.
"You little--" You said as you let go of his hand and went to swat at him. He jumped away quickly and began to walk backwards as you inched closer.
"Nice try. You couldn't catch me even if you wanted to." He challenged, keeping his body a safe distance away from you.
"Do I hear a challenge, Jiminie?" You raised a brow, dipping your chin down as a taunting smile creeped across your lips.
He flicked his brows down quickly and scrunched his nose in a rather cute manner. The look in his eyes was almost daring you as he smirked. He flashed you a quick wink before he turned and began to jog ahead of you.
"Hey!" You called out, picking up your own pace to keep up with him.
He started to laugh, purposefully keeping just a few feet in front of you to stay out of your reach.
His laughter rumbled from his chest as he taunted you with his little game. He kept glancing back at you with that carefree smile, biting at his lower lip and letting it pop from between his teeth before he darted behind a nearby tree. In the darkness, you could barely see him now.
You shifted, feeling your shoes dig into the dirt as you made a hard right in attempts to stay with him and swivel behind the tree as well.
Though what you weren't expecting was for him to have stopped, just out of sight.
Your eyes widened as he opened his arms and let you collide with his frame. You squealed at the sudden surprise as he quickly engulfed you with his arms and trapped you in his embrace.
"I guess I win." He said lowly, just a few inches from your face. He was blatantly staring at your lips, his breath washing over you. His close proximity was clouding your mind and sending your heart into a gallop.
"H-how did you win?" Your voice came out as more of a shaky whisper and you cleared your throat, pushing yourself back just enough to see his expression. The fog started to dissolve and you were able to focus.
"Because I have you in my arms now." He whispered with that charming smile plastered onto his lips.
His low tone of voice caused your heart rate to spike again. You averted your gaze, lowering it to stare down at his chest that you were pressed tightly against.
Jimin saw your expression, finding your shyness amusing as he chuckled deeply.
"Come on. It's just past these trees." Jimin said, slowly unwrapping his arms from around your waist. The lack of pressure allowed your heart rate to settle, and it made you feel like you could breathe again.
He took your hand into his once more, lacing your fingers together as he squeezed it gently.
He guided you past the trees and into a clearing. You glanced around for a moment before your brows raised in surprise at the sight before you.
"Oh my god." You whispered under your breath, stunned.
The moon was shining down on the ground in the clearing, causing the water below you to look like it was glowing as it cascaded down an elegant formation of rocks down an incline.
It took you a moment, but your eyes drifted up to the sky, a plethora of stars spread out in the night like lights just above the canopy. It was so clear, you could even make out the Milky Way.
"Wow..." You said breathlessly.
"You like it?" Jimin stood close by your side, his arm brushing against yours.
"I love it." You corrected, unable to rip your eyes away from the view.
He smiled brightly as his eyes raised up to the sky. You looked over at his beautiful face.
"You know..." He started, causing you to finally look his way, "The stars in the sky must be lonely without you." He finished before turning his gaze back to you and staring you in the eyes, despite having made a rather cheesy but adorable joke.
You cracked a smile at his corny pick up line and turned your head away. "Were you planning on using that line all night?" You teased with a roll of your eyes.
"Maybe." He said, his smile never leaving his plump lips. "Come on, over here." Jimin said, gently pulling your hand as he moved closer to the water, finding a nice smooth rock just by the current.
He released you, but after taking a seat he offered his hand back up to you, implying that he wanted you to join him. You took his hand and lowered yourself to sit. The water was so close you could feel a faint mist brushing against your skin.
"How did you find this place?" You asked, crossing your ankles as you spread out your legs.
"I've come here with Jungkook a few times. We stumbled upon this place when we were exploring during the day." He explained, watching the water rush by. "I knew eventually I'd want to bring someone here." He released a breath and turned his head back to you. "Someone special to me."
Jimin placed his hand over yours as you rested on the rocks by the water. You felt the warmth of his hand radiate onto your skin.
You were trying to focus on the beautiful scenery around you, but his hand was somewhat of a distraction. Instead of your mind allowing you to drift into peaceful bliss, you could only focus on his fingers on yours and warming more than just your hand.
The sound of the rushing water was the only thing filling the silence between the two of you, and it soothed the headache that had come back after the effects of the alcohol had worn off. You brought your legs toward you, crossing them in front of your body. Much to his dismay, you pulled your hand from under Jimin's and brought it to your lap.
You stared at your hands and your brows furrowed as his words rolled around in your head. "Why?"
"I don't think I know what you mean. Why what?"
"Why are you doing this? Why me?" The more you talked, the angrier your words were starting to sound. "Is this some kind of game to you, some cruel way to get back at Namjoon for something?"
When Jimin didn't answer, you continued, not daring to look at him. You needed to get this out, and his eyes had a way of disarming you. "You could have anyone you want, but you chose someone your best friend had already shown interest in. I just don't understand. All of your words are nice and all, but you treat me like a prize, a toy."
The silence was deafening, and the more time that passed without him talking, the angrier you got. You had been so blinded by his looks, his charm, his persistence. But none of it had ever felt genuine. It always felt like he was just some jealous little boy who wanted the shiny new toy that his brother had.
You braved a glance in his direction from the corner of your eye. He was sitting still as a statue. His eyes were closed and his jaw was clenched. His hands were balled into fists in his lap and it looked like he was trying to control his breathing. Finally, after another agonizing minute, he spoke.
"Look, I'm not ... I don't," he sighed and leaned his head back to look at the stars, "this isn't what I do. I didn't wake up last week wanting to hurt Namjoon. But from the moment I saw you the day of that first concert, it's like I was in a trance. I couldn't think straight, all I knew what that I wanted to be wherever you were. That's why I kept coming over to your side of the stage. I didn't realize that Namjoon was already seeing you, the day he came back from the beach, he told us he had met someone but I had no clue who you were.
Even after watching him going over to your side of the stage, I didn't put it together. I figured there was no way he could choose the same girl as me. Then he requested that you join us back stage. You can't imagine my shock when you walked into our room. I should have backed off once I found out that he was pursuing you, I know I should have. But I couldn't. Every time you came around, I found myself drawn to you. I couldn't stay away. I wasn't even going to tell you. But then it became unbearable, and I didn't want to go on not knowing if this, if we, could become something."
He turned his body to face you and you did the same. You were speechless, your words frozen in your throat. You had seen flirty Jimin. You had seen seductive Jimin. You had even seen sweet Jimin. But you had never seen him this way, and you couldn't help but feel like it was unfair. You had to admit that it would have been much easier if he had just agreed with your earlier accusations. It would make life less difficult if you were nothing more to him than a pawn, a play thing. Hearing him tell you of his actual, real feelings for you made you uneasy.
"I'm not doing this on purpose, honest. If I could just make all of this go away, I might, if only to make things easier on you. I know this is upsetting people, but I tried putting distance between us and it was even more painful. I don't know what it is about you, but I've never felt like this before. You're like a drug to me." Under the bright light of the moon, you could see his brows knit together.
He was confused, conflicted, and frustrated, it was clear. He had tried, he had tried to stay away from you and couldn't. Your mind was swimming from his confession and you struggled to process it all. He reached for your hand and you let him take it.
He wrapped his cool fingers around your hand a bit tighter as he held it in his own before raising it and bringing your fingers to his lips. Gently, he kissed at your knuckles. He was sitting close to you, his knees touching both of yours. His lips were so soft against your skin, and it gave you goosebumps. You bit your lower lip and chewed on it, squirming under his now heated stare.
His eyes darkened as he whispered against your hand, "Please don't do that. It's like your dangling drugs in front of an addict every time you bite your lip." You gulped, distracting Jimin was back in full force. You licked your dry lips and looked down, heat rising up your neck. Your head popped back up when you heard him growl. Such a strange sound coming from such an adorable person.
He moved quickly, raising up onto his knees and leaning forward. He hovered over you at an angle, placing a hand at the side of your face as he firmly pressed his lips to yours with absolutely no hesitation. Your eyes rounded in surprise for a moment, but his kiss was soft. His lips moved against yours so gently despite the haste in his movements.
Your eyes fell closed slowly. His other hand still held yours and you pulled on it, bringing him closer. His head tilted into the kiss, deepening it further. You felt your heart pound against your rib cage as you let your reservations go, returning the kiss. The angle in which he was causing your body to lean was growing uncomfortable for both of you. Jimin sat back down and brought you with him. He was surprisingly strong, and he lifted you like you weighed nothing.
His hands were on your thighs as you straddled him, and you struggled to breathe as you found yourself deepening the kiss even more. You reached down and ran your fingers through his soft hair, something you had been wanting to do for days. In the back of your mind, you could tell that there was something different now, you felt different kissing him this time. But something told you that it wasn't in a good way.
You felt more in control of yourself, and something clicked in your brain, a resolve you hadn't had before. You pulled your lips from his and looked down at him. His eyes were still closed and his mouth was open as he calmed his breathing.
After a minute, he smiled up at you as he opened his eyes. You ran your thumb over his plump lips. "I like you, Y/N, a lot. I won't apologize for that." His voice was barely over a whisper, and you were surprised you could hear him at all over the roar of the waterfall behind him. You kissed his cheek and moved off of his lap.
A breeze blew past you both, carrying the mist of the water on the wind that blew against your skin. You involuntarily shivered. Jimin noticed and moved to sit next to you, his body facing the same direction as yours again. He wrapped his arm around you and you let yourself lean into his side. In the moment, you felt there was no harm in it. The feeling of his warmth was comforting. You finally let yourself calm down.
