Off to the Arcade

Dressed and refreshed, you climbed into Namjoon's car. This one was different from the one he drove last night. You didn't know cars so you had no idea what kind it was, but the seats were made of an off-white leather and there was a large screen taking up the dash in front of you between the seats.

It still had that new car smell, and as with all things Namjoon related, it was spick and span. You ran your hand over the dash, "This is nice. But you don't need fancy cars to impress me." He simply smirked back at you, pushing a button to start the car.

You hadn't seen your friend before you left, so you didn't know if she was still there or had already left with Hoseok.

The car began to move, and you realized that you had no idea where you were headed, but you weren't worried. Anywhere with Namjoon promised to be entertaining.

You decided to fill the silence and feed your curiosity. It may not have been the best time, but your talk from earlier was beginning to eat at you.

"So...what was it you and Jimin fought about? If you don't mind me asking." You questioned hesitantly, folding your hands in your lap as you sat in the passenger seat.

Namjoon took a breath, seeming to debate if he wanted to talk about it or not. "He got a bit upset that I had brought you over to stay the night..." he trailed off, looking at you before returning his eyes to the road.

"Really? Why?" You instantly felt awful, you were the cause of their fight. You could understand why Jimin would be upset, though, especially if he thought that Nova had been there because of you, resulting in the loss of his bed.

Or perhaps the strange looks he had been giving you was because he didn't like you, the thought made you sad.

"He said I should have had "more respect" for you and taken you back to your hotel." Namjoon huffed, rolling his eyes as he didn't seem to understand why it seemed disrespectful to Jimin. Your eyes widened as it dawned on you, Jimin thought Namjoon had brought you there to sleep with you.

"But it was really late. Plus, you gave me a choice. I'm the one who accepted." You set your hand on his leg, siding with Namjoon.

"I tried to tell him that. Maybe he thinks I pressured you into it." Namjoon shrugged as he kept his eyes on the road.

"Is he also upset with Hoseok?" You asked, given Hoseok also brought Nova back to the dorm. Even if he didn't think she had come with Hoseok, he knew that she stayed with him last night and they actually had slept together.

"It doesn't seem like it. That's what I don't understand." His brows furrowed as he scratched his head. "Why would he be so angry about you when he wasn't upset at all abo-" He didn't finish his question, instead his face went blank again. You looked at him in confusion, thinking you must have missed something. His hands tightened on the wheel but he remained silent.

"Weird." You shook your head, scrunching your brows. "Well, I'm sure he will get over it. Maybe he just needs some time to calm down. You both do." You suggested lightly.

"Yeah, maybe." Namjoon agreed after a pause, taking a deep breath.

Maybe you shouldn't have asked, because now he was upset and the tension had visibly returned to his body. Quickly, you attempted to change the subject again.

"So, where are we headed?" Namjoon drove somewhat too fast, you noticed the speedometer read 90 mph and had just seen a speed limit sign that said 65.

"You'll see." He said, finally cracking a smile again and slowing down.

"You've got a kink for surprises, don't you?" You questioned sarcastically.

"Maybe a bit." He replied back with a smirk.

It didn't take long before you had pulled up to a large brick building with a neon sign in the front. Namjoon found a place to park, and you unbuckled your seat belt and hopped out. "An...arcade?" You were surprised to see bright flashing lights through the tinted windows. It's not that you didn't like the idea, but you had to admit you were unsure if that's what the building said or not. You really should have studied more Korean.

"Yeah. That's not a problem is it?" Namjoon misread your confusion as distaste as he met you around the front of the car.

"What? No!" You said shaking your head and flashing him a reassuring smile. "Just--" You were about to admit to your lack of knowledge but decided you didn't want to embarrass yourself. You stared at the sign one more time before looking at him. "Nothing. Never mind. Let's go." You said, offering him a large smile.

Namjoon stared at you questioningly before seeming to snicker and you could almost see the wheels turning in his head. Maybe he understood? His eyes raked over your body and he frowned, "Maybe we should have gotten you some different clothes. I feel like I'm going to have to beat men down with a baseball bat with you looking like that."

"Did you bring a baseball bat?"

"No."

"Then we're fine." You smiled brightly and grabbed his hand. Your heart hammered in your chest, jealousy looked so damn good on him.

Heading inside, you were met with bright colors and the sound of machines buzzing and singing.

"So, to me this looks like it might be another opportunity for you to 'show off'." You nudged him with a cocky grin.

"Actually, I'm not the best at arcade games. Besides, you remember what happened last time you assumed I was showing off." He smirked at you, and the memories his words brought to the for front of your mind made you blush.

"Hm. Don't know if I believe you." You joked, unwilling to let him see how his words affected you. Moving over to a claw machine, you glanced inside. "Why don't you prove it?" You said, gesturing to it as you reached into your clutch to pull out a coin. "Let's see who can get a stuffed animal first." You offered, holding the coin up before slipping it and a few more into the machine. "You first." You ushered him over with a little shove.

"Alright." He laughed as he approached.

He took control of the joy stick and you leaned against the side of the machine, watching him closely. You were more content watching him over any flashing lights or enticing machine in this place.

Glancing at what he was doing, you saw that he really didn't appear to be that great at operating claw machines, not that you were either.

"A little more to the left!" You said, now trying to help him out despite this being a playful competition.

He smiled at your guidance and moved the stick. Hitting the button, the claw went down and barely missed the stuffed giraffe he was aiming for. You both groaned in amused disappointment.

"Now it's your turn." He said, gently pulling you in front of the controls.

"Alright, alright." You said, slipping some more coins into the machine, purposely doing it before he could. Since he had been paying for plenty of things since you met, you wanted to be able to pay for a fun experience for the two of you.

Namjoon gave you a knowing look as he had just stuffed his hand into his own pocket in attempts to pay for the next game. But he decided not to say anything.

Working the machine, you tried your best to get the stuffed animal and, like you did for him, he attempted to help you as well. But, just like him, you failed.

You groaned a bit louder and stepped to the side to let him go again. You both went back and forth a few times, each time you were sure to slip the coins in before he could. Though he almost made it seem like the one who would pay was turning into a game of it's own.

After a few tries, Namjoon spoke up. "Alright. First person to get a prize pays for the next game." He said, seeming a bit hell-bent on not letting you spend any more money on him. He had a wicked glint in his eye and it made you immediately suspicious.

"You're on." You shot back, accepting his challenge. You put in a little more effort this time, you really didn't excel at this but you were getting better. Okay, you were getting worse.

Namjoon was guiding you with his directions yet again and trying to help despite desperately wanting to beat you.

"OH! You almost got it, just move it a little more to the--" He stepped behind you and wrapped his arms around you to place his hand over your own that was resting on the joystick. You could feel his heat pressed against your back. You bit down on your lip to try and fight how distracting his closeness was.

He moved your hand in the direction he was suggesting then hit the button. The claw dropped and picked up a small toy. Before you two could even see if it dropped into the bin, your expressions lit up.

Various octaves and repeated 'OH!' sounds came from you both until finally the animal dropped into the bin. You tossed your hands up in victory and he lifted you into the air, twirling you around.

You giggled. "You did it!" He set you on your feet as he leaned down and grabbed the stuffed animal.

He offered it out to you and you took it. It was pretty cute.

You snickered at the fluffy white dog you had won with his help.

"It looks like my dog. Just chunkier." Namjoon laughed.

"And it also looks like I won the bet." You said, sticking out your tongue at him.

His eyes widened a bit with realization. He had completely forgotten you were competing. "Crap!" He said, hanging his head with a laugh.

You hugged the chunky white dog to your chest as you gave him a triumphant smile.

"Come on, let's pick a different game." You said moving off to a different part of the arcade as Namjoon followed. You stopped by a basketball shooting game and turned to him. "Let's see how well you can shoot a ball." You challenged, cocking your head toward the game.

"Ah, are you purposefully picking games I'm not good at?" Namjoon laughed as you bent down to slip some coins into the machine.

"Suga is more of a basketball player than I am, but maybe some of his skill rubbed off." Namjoon said with a shrug before stepping up as the balls dropped from the machine.

He seemed to try his best as he tossed the balls toward the hoop, missing most of them but managing to get a few in and you'd offer loud cheers and claps each time.

He tossed the last ball at the hoop and it bounced off the rim, coming back toward him and bouncing off his forehead.

"Oh my god!" You said, not wanting to laugh but couldn't help it as you covered your mouth.

Namjoon seemed to take it in good stride as he laughed as well and tossed the ball again. He didn't get a great score but he managed to get a decent amount of tickets.

Ripping the tickets from the machine, he held them out to you. "I've got Moonie." You said, gesturing to the dog in your arms. "You hold them." You turned your body away from him in rejection.

"... Moonie?" He questioned, shooting you a raised brow and sly grin.

"Yeah, it's a play off your name. Problem?" You responded in a cocky manner.

"No. Not at all." He shrugged. "Just ironic. My dog's name is a play off my stage name." He had told you the day before about his dog Rap Mon.

He chuckled before pointing off to a concession stand. "Let's take a break and get something to drink?" He suggested, taking your hand in his free one.

"Sure." You nodded and followed after him. You decided to let him have this win and buy the drinks before you two found a bench off to the side to sit and drink.

"Have you ever been to this arcade before?" You asked idly as you sat beside him, your stuffed animal Moonie settled in your lap.

"Yeah, Jungkook dragged all of us here one evening. I ended up not being able to stay that long because I had a meeting. So I figured it would be fun to come back when I had more time." Namjoon said, taking a sip of his drink.

"Why didn't you come back with the guys?"

"Didn't get a chance. Plus, I thought it would be just as fun to come with you." He said, offering you a sweet smile.

"God, you keep smiling like that, and I'm going to need to visit the hospital." You muttered sarcastically as you washed your words down with your drink. Every time he smiled at you like that, your heart would beat abnormally. He winked at you, which didn't help your sporadic heart in the slightest.

You both finished your drinks and began to look for another game to play. You bounced around to a few different machines before stumbling upon an odd fishing game.

"I'm paying!" Namjoon announced, lunging in front of the coin slot and giving you a daring look.

"Okay, fine." You relented, letting him have this one as you playfully rolled your eyes. You sat your stuffed animal down nearby and picked up one of the fake fishing poles across from Namjoon as you two began to challenge each other.

Neither of you seemed good at this game either, but Namjoon was putting in a lot of effort.

You glanced up at him to see him violently spinning the reel as he tried to pull in a fish. You laughed as he stuck out his tongue, determination making a vein pop on his forehead. Letting out weird sounds as you got into the game, you tried to keep up with Namjoon.

A fish would get away from you and you'd yell in objection just as he would. You could feel the strange looks from the people around you but you were having so much fun you didn't care.

Finally the game ended, and Namjoon scored a lot more points than you.

"You cheated." You teased with a laugh before adding, "Nice job."

He chuckled before suggesting, "How about we play one more game before leaving to grab some food or something?"

"Sure." You said with a smile and began to look around for a game.

In his excitement, Namjoon shouted "That one!" And started to run over to one of the racing machines. He acted like a small child in a candy shop when he got really excited, and it was enough to make your heart melt.

"Are you any good at driving?" You asked sarcastically.

Namjoon climbed into the machine and laid his long legs across the extra seat as he looked over at you with a smirk.

"I drove us here, didn't I?"

"Why do you think I'm asking? You nearly killed us." You teased as you gently pushed his feet off your seat and climbed inside.

You started the game and you both seemed to be at the same skill level, and you may have gotten a bit too into it as you tried to sabotage him, pushing his arm to make him skid off the animated road. Finally, you managed to hit his back bumper and cause him to spin out just before crossing the finish line, making you place first.

You raised your arms again in utter excitement as you cheered.

"Guess I'm better. You should let me drive next." You wiped invisible dirt from your shoulder in a brag.

"We'll call it a tie since I won the last game." Namjoon said as he leaned closer to you.

"You just sound like a sore loser." You teased.

"Or you're an arrogant winner." He mused, moving off his seat and coming over to yours. Placing his hands on either side of your head, he leaned down and placed a chaste kiss on the corner of your mouth, teasing you. You moved towards him for more but he pulled away from you, laughing as he walked off. The audacity of that man...
