Let the Rain Pour
The two of you continued on your walk after a little while, talking about anything under the moon that you could think of.
He told you about his family, and his life before becoming an idol. You listened as he talked about his sister, who was around Jungkook's age, his parents, and even about his little white dog he had named 'Rap Mon'. His eyes crinkled when he mentioned his pet and the fun things they would do together.
You told him about how you became friends with Nova, what you did in your free time, even going into detail about the embarrassing things your mom had saved on VHS tapes that would haunt you forever. You found yourself simply wanting to tell him everything, and that was so new to you.
As you were walking along, you felt the phone in his jacket pocket buzz. You had taken it out of your clutch and put it in the front pocket when you had first put the hoodie on, not wanting to miss anything that could be important. You hastily pulled it out to see a message from Nova.
Everything okay? - Most Beautiful Woman in the World
This was what happened when you let your best friend know the password you used to lock your phone. You grinned, she was a mom friend, and you knew it would only be a matter of time before she texted to check up on you.
You smirked faintly, deciding to send a picture as your answer. You pointed your phone's camera toward Namjoon, snapping a quick shot with a snicker. You were sure that you had been a master ninja in a previous life, your subtlety was perfect, he didn't even notice. As you looked at the picture after hitting send, you noticed lights that resembled those on a ferris wheel in the background. You looked up from your phone and sure enough, there was an amusement park behind him in the distance.
Everything is great. Everything okay with you?
You brought your attention to the looping rides you could, it didn't look too far away from where you were now. "That place looks fun." You commented.
"Oh yeah?" He asked with a smile toward you. "I'd suggest we go but..." He pulled out his phone to show you the time, it was already almost two in the morning. You hadn't even realized how late it had gotten. "I think it might be a little late." He confirmed with a laugh. "Maybe next time?" He questioned.
"There is going to be a next time?" You asked with a raised brow and a smirk that caused one of your cheeks to round.
"I hope so..." Namjoon said, looking at you with his own smirk.
"Well...I guess I wouldn't be opposed to that." You said teasingly.
The both of you shared a smile and Namjoon moved a bit closer to you, gently wrapping his arm around your shoulders as the two of you began to start heading back the way you had come.
Though it wasn't long before you felt your phone buzz once more. You pulled it out to check the message, since it was likely from Nova letting you know how she was doing.
She sent you a picture back with the caption. 'Doing just fine~'. You couldn't help but laugh a bit. Namjoon idly glanced to the side and saw what you were looking at.
"Is that from Nova?" He asked, sounding a little guilty for looking at your phone.
"Yeah. I guess she's still out with the guys. Or actually..." You looked a bit closer at the picture. "Maybe just Hoseok." You flicked your brows in surprise before snickering and slipping the phone back into your pocket.
"Hobi seems to like her." Namjoon said with a shrug. "At least she's having fun." He added, grateful that there was no awkwardness of pulling you away from your friend.
"Well, you'll be happy to know she's not the only one having fun." You said with a cocky smile as you looked up at him, his arm around your shoulder making you feel safe and...wanted.
You continued along, just walking aimlessly into the night with the man you met only half a week ago.
But your conversation ended abruptly as you felt a few drops of cold water splash on top of your head. You looked up and a drop fell onto your forehead, making you blink and shrink back as you wiped it from your face. Light grey clouds had begun to roll in and cover the night sky, overshadowing the moon.
Without much warning, it began to rain heavily pretty quickly. You yelped as you reached over your shoulders and pulled the hood of Namjoon's jacket up to cover your head.
He wrapped an arm around your waist and used his hand as a makeshift visor to shield his eyes from the liquid. "Come on, we can stand over there till it calms down." He suggested, pointing off into the distance at a gazebo.
You nodded and quickly jogged along with Namjoon to the small covered space to get out of the now pouring rain.
He faced you, reaching towards you to putt his hood down past your head once you both were safely under cover. He smiled down at you, tucking your hair behind your ear and making your face heat.
He ruffled his hair and shook his head to get rid of the excess water before smoothing it back with his hands. Your eyes widened fractionally, did he always have to look like a Calvin Klein model?
"Well, that was unexpected." He said with an airy chuckle before looking at you with a a bright smile, taking the situation in stride.
You tried to shake yourself out to get any extra water off but stopping when you heard him laugh again, this time at you.
You grinned sheepishly, the sound ringing in your ears. As you eyed him, you were dumbfounded by how unfairly perfect he looked. His hair was soaked and tousled from running his hands through it, and his clothes clung to his skin, accentuating the planes of his chest and his toned legs. For a quick second, you couldn't help but think 'Kind of glad it started raining now'.
The two of you took a seat on a bench and decided to wait it out, talking some more over the sound of the pouring rain. But, thanks to the rain, it started to get a bit cooler outside. You had taken off Namjoon's jacket and placed it off to the side to dry a bit and he seemed to be getting a little cold.
"Come here." You said, gesturing to him to move to sit in front of you on the ground.
He raised a brow in confusion before obliging with a soft "Okay?" Moving off his seat, he sat down on the ground in front of you, his back pressed against your knees. You parted your legs and leaned his shoulders back so that his spine lightly touched the bench you were resting on.
Carefully, you let your arms slither around his shoulders and engulf his frame. Leaning down to hug him from behind, you did what he had done to you several times now and rested your chin on his shoulder.
"Uh.." He muttered, seeming to get a bit shy as he cleared his throat. The guy exuded confidence and his very presence commanded respect but here he was, blushing under yo- wait. He was blushing? Your eyes widened as the powerful beast of a man turned bright red.
"I'm making sure you stay warm. It would be a pain if you got sick." You said, acting as if this was no big deal, but the erratic beat of your heart said other wise. If he got sick, you may not see him for a few days and you already had so few left. You'd find a way to stop the rain altogether if you had to.
"Oh.." He said, rubbing the bridge of his nose. "Thank you." A smile pulled across his lips as he cast his gaze the other way.
You could see the puff of his cheeks as his lips spread thin and it caused you to mimic the same expression.
You tried not to let the silence settle too long before you two began to talk again, trying to pass the time while you waited on the rain to stop.
Eventually, the downpour sounded less furious and more mildly upset. The entire time, you had been curled around Namjoon to keep him warm and didn't get tired of it for a second. As soon as you two were aware the rain had calmed, you slowly pulled away, feeling a sense of lonesomeness against your chest that he had just leaned on.
He stood with a grunt, walking towards the gazebo's opening. Leaning his arm against the frame, he watched the rain fade to a trickle. He watched it, and you watched him. Clearing your throat, you broke the silence as you started to feel like a creeper.
"I wonder what time it is." You said, having completely lost track once again. Glancing at your phone, your brows raised. "It's 5 a.m." You said with a laugh, showing the screen to Namjoon.
He laughed along with you. "Well, hope I don't get in trouble with your 'parents' for keeping you out so late." He joked with a snicker, using air quotes with the word parents as you walked over to him. You took his large hand in your own without even thinking about it.
"But, it is insanely late and we're a bit far from your hotel." Namjoon said slowly as he gathered up his jacket. "Plus, your clothes are still kind of damp. Do you maybe...maybe want to just crash at my place tonight?" He hesitated, not wanting to come off too strong and scare you away. "Completely fine if you say no, I won't be offended." He added, raising a hand in reassurance so that you didn't feel obligated.
"I live in a dorm with all seven of the other boys, and I can always crash on the couch, let you take my bed. It's no trouble." He threw in as he wrapped you back up in his hoodie.
You only felt slightly bad about taking his only source of warmth. Only slightly, because you loved wearing something that belonged to him, you were such a girlfriend cliche. Your eyes widened as your own thoughts took you to a place you hadn't told it to. Oh god, what was he doing to you?
You stood in thought for a moment, thinking about it. You questioned if Nova would be okay in the hotel room alone for one night. You could always head back in a few hours after getting a little bit of sleep. Yeah, she should be fine.
"Sure. Let me send Nova a message and let her know." You accepted his thoughtful offer with a nod and a grateful smile. "Thank you." Pulling out your phone once more, your fingers flew over the keys.
Hey, got caught in the rain. Staying at Namjoon's tonight. Don't worry. Love you xx
"No problem." He said with a smile, and inwardly he seemed a bit too happy that you accepted the offer. "Come on, let's head to the car before the sky gets sad again." Namjoon joked, tugging your hand and leading you back in the direction of the car.
He leaned down and kissed the back of your hand sweetly. It started to sprinkle again, and you held your free hand out to catch a few drops. Namjoon lifted your joined hands and spun you in a circle, and the two of you danced your way to his vehicle in the rain. You laughed together without a single care, both rejoicing in your small little piece of beautiful bliss.
