Bite the Bullet

After Jimin left, you sat on your bed deep in thought, trying to process what had just happened and what you were supposed to do now. Your fingers would occasionally venture back up to your lips, still a little swollen from his rough kiss. You tried splashing some cold water on your face, watching some TV, nothing served to release your mind from your own torturous thoughts.

After a while, you tried to lay down and sleep. You weren't sure if you actually managed to sleep or not, but before you knew it, the sun was rising and you were staring out at the window across from you. Nova was still passed out cold.

Sitting up in your bed, you grabbed one of your pillows and tossed it across the way towards her head. "Hey!" You called out. "Wake up." You tried to wake her from slumber as the pillow landed on her face. She groaned and buried her head underneath it. Well that backfired.

It was still early and you knew she would be pissed when she saw the time, but you were restless. You needed to talk about what happened, and who better to give you advice than your best friend?

"Wake up! I need to you talk to you." You persisted, tossing yet another pillow. Another loud groan escaped your friend as she swatted at the air.

"Whhhaaatttt?" She whined, tossing one of the pillows you threw at her across the room. Rolling onto her side, she glanced at the clock on the night stand that read 6 a.m.

"It's 6 in the morning?" She complained, rubbing her eyes. "What in god's name is so important you needed to wake me up this early?" She said, clearly more than a bit grumpy.

"Something happened last night and I need to talk to someone about it." You fiddled with your fingers, twisting on your bed to face her.

"Whatever it was, it wasn't my fault. And if it was...my bad." She said, still rubbing at her eyes.

"What? No." You said shaking your head. "You didn't do anything. It's about Jimin." You started to explain.

"What about him?" She finally sat up in her bed. She glanced over to the table beside her bed and her irritated expression softened. She picked up the glass of water and pills that you had set out for her last night, popping the pills into her mouth and chugging the water. She gave you a grateful smile and motioned for you to go on.

"Well, after we got back to the hotel last night, you instantly passed out upon hitting the lobby -- THANKS FOR THAT BY THE WAY" You said, giving her a glare which only earned you an apologetic smile and a shrug. "Anyway, Jimin stayed for a while longer. We just talked for a while before... well..." You tried to figure out how to say it.

"Well what?" She said, encouraging you to get to the point.

"He...told me he liked me then he kissed me." You rushed, speaking that last sentence so quickly after your hesitation that it came out at one single jumbled word.

"What?!" She blurted out, her eyes popping wide open. Welp, she was definitely awake now.

"I don't know!" You said, grabbing your remaining pillow and hugging it to your chest.

"How the hell did that happen?" She questioned, looking at you with surprise.

"Again, I don't know!" You shouted, waving your hands in the air. "It was just a normal conversation! But it took an unexpected turn."

"Yeah, no shit." She said, rolling her eyes.

"Hey! It wasn't like I was flirting with him. It just came out of nowhere!" You tried to explain.

"Did you kiss him back?" Her brows were furrowed in confusion before they lowered in accusation. Did you kiss him back? You remember that tiny voice in your head screaming at you to stop before she was run over with a truck. You remember fisting your hands into Jimin's shirt to force his body closer to yours. Yeah, you were pretty sure that might constitute as kissing someone back, maybe.

"What?! No!" You said before dropping your voice. "Well...I don't know...everything just kind of happened so fast! But I think, I may have, maybe...possibly kissed him back." You hung your head in shame. You felt awful and there was a knot forming in the pit of your stomach.

"My god." She muttered, placing her hand over her eyes as she shook her head. She pinched the bridge of her nose and sighed.

You groaned and leaned back on your bed. Maybe you did something to lead him on? You couldn't recall anything you could have said or done to emit that kind of thing from Jimin. You had thought that he understood that you were seeing Namjoon and that he should stand down. Maybe you should have actually said that, though. Thinking of the sweet, dimpled man made your heart hurt.

"What now?" She questioned, lowering her hand from her face.

"I have no idea. That's why I woke you up. I have no idea what to do." You said before burrying your face into your pillow.

"Maybe I'll get lucky. Maybe they will stay busy until we leave and then I never have to see them again. Out of sight, out of mind, right?" That would work. And if it didn't, Seoul was a huge city and was home to like a million people. It's not like you would ever bump into them. Of course if you started ignoring Namjoon, he may come looking for you and he did know where your hotel was

She gave you a sympathetic look, "Is that really what you want, though?"

You bit your lip, thinking about never seeing that gorgeous smile again, or hearing that masculine voice say your name, or feel his lips on yours. No, you don't think you wanted that at all.

"Well...are you going to tell Namjoon about Jimin?" She quirked a brow at you, folding her arms behind her head. It looked like she was baiting you. You needed the cheat sheet for this test.

"Should I?" You weren't any closer to figuring out what to do than you were before. You chewed on the inside of your cheek, your thoughts a jumbled mess inside your head. "I mean...it's not like we're officially dating right now. But, we're not really seeing other people either...I don't think." Your voice betrayed your uncertainty.

God, you hoped Namjoon wasn't seeing other people. The thought of another girl talking to him, touching him, you shook your head to rid yourself of it all. "I just don't want to be the reason they fight." You sighed and put your head in your hands.

"Yeah, I get that, but at the same time if you don't tell him and he finds out from someone else, don't you think that would be so much more painful?" Nova questioned, raising a good point. You dreaded the thought of the look on his face when you tell him that his best friend put the moves on you. He would be so disappointed, he would probably never want to see your face again.

But the thought of not telling him and him finding out from Jimin or someone else was even worse. He would see you as a liar, a coward. And you couldn't handle that. Not from him.

"Yeah... I suppose you're right but," you groaned loudly, "how am I supposed to go about telling him something like this?!"

"Well, it won't be easy. Can't say I envy you." She grimaced and ran a hand through her hair.

"Geeze, you're helpful." You loaded your words with thick sarcasm.

"Sorry." She said waving her hands. "There is no real easy way to say something like that. You just...gotta bite the bullet and say it." She suggested as her eyes softened with pity.

"I don't even know when I might see either of them again." You said, sighing as you closed your eyes, face still held in your palms.

Nova leaned across her bed and grabbed her phone, looking through it quickly. You frowned, she wasn't helping at all.

"I'm having a crisis here and you're on your phone?!" You barked at her.

"I'm checking something!" She waved you off, not phased in the slightest by your outburst. "Hoseok sent me a message. He said he might have some free time the day after tomorrow. Apparently a company meeting was cancelled." She explained. "So, Namjoon may end up being free that day, too."

You lifted your head and looked up, reaching for your own phone as you noticed some notifications causing the LED light on the screen to blink.

You had a few messages from Namjoon. You felt your heart ache a little bit before opening the first one. It had a picture attached of your favorite pair of dimples set in a deep smile. The hope in his eyes made the butterflies in your stomach poke at the knot that had hardened there.

Hey. Turns out I have some free time Friday. So you want to see a movie? - Namjoon

Or we could do something else? - Namjoon

I need to see you. - Namjoon

Is everything okay? You're not mad at me for being so busy are you? - Namjoon

Of course you are, I'm so sorry. - Namjoon

Oh good lord, he was panicking because you hadn't responded and was now having a conversation with himself. Your stomach did somersaults. You could never be mad at him, not even if you were offered money to be. You tapped away at the keys, hoping to put an end to his suffering.

Jesus, I'm not mad! Stop having your own conversations, you're scaring yourself. A movie sounds great.

...I miss you, too.

Sorry, I may have panicked a little, maybe. - Namjoon

God, he was adorable.

You're so cute. So I'll see you soon then?

I'll see you soon then :* - Namjoon

"Well, guess you were right. Namjoon invited me out that day." You said towards Nova as you looked up from your phone.

"See! There ya go." She beamed at you, as if this were a good thing.

Inwardly though, you hated that you felt more nervous to see him over the normal joy. You had missed him, but you had a feeling that your next talk wasn't going to go very well.

You let out a deep sigh that you had been holding almost in the entire time. Nova quickly jumped from her bed and moved over to you to grab your arm.

"Come on. We have two days to do whatever we want. Let's get your mind of the situation till then, okay?" She said with a smile, trying to pull you out of your bad mood.

"Okay." You nodded as you forced a smile and got out of bed to get dressed. Your eyes fell on the giant stuffed koala Namjoon had won for you the other day. Walking over to it, you plucked it from the floor and held it in your arms.

You hugged the bear tight, it smelled like him. "Oh, Koya, please give me strength." You had let Namjoon pick the name since you had named Moonie. You set him on your bed and changed into something light and casual. You let Nova drag you all around the city until, finally, you let yourself smile again.
