Therapy Session

My parents hold me down as Joshua forces himself onto me and when he finishes, his gun is pulled out as he shoots my parents, causing their blood to splatter. I scream but not loud enough. Almost like a whisper.

He turns to me, gun in hand, and points it behind me. I turn to look and see Harry standing there looking at me. "It's all your fault Hermione." Harry says, causing my heart to break.

When I hear someone shout my name, Josh looks at me with an angry expression. "You're lucky this time."

"Hermione?" I hear the voice say again, becoming clearer with each spoken name. "Granger?" Draco.

When I jump up off the floor, I'm surrounded in darkness, making me scream louder. A hand covers my mouth as the lights are turned on. With Draco in front of me and Lilly by the light switch, I calm down, looking sheepishly at his daughter.

"I'm so sorry for waking you both up!"

He shakes his head. "No, not at all. Go back to bed, Lilly. It's just a bad dream. You get them too, remember?"

She nods, complying and strutting back to her room, leaving me with a confused Draco. "Please stop looking at me like that."

"What was it about?" He asks, shocking me.

"Uh," I stutter as he continues.

"And why are you on the floor?" His voice more concerned as he speaks.

"I just didn't feel comfortable sleeping where she did." I admit, straying off the nightmare.

His face softens, sitting in front of me and sighing. "Look, I promise her spirit won't haunt you." He jokes. "I don't mind either, obviously, or you wouldn't be here."

"You're right. I'm sorry." I stand up, moving to the bed.

He starts laughing and reaches out for me, grabbing onto something. When he pulls off a pair of pants, my face instantly blushes and grabs them away, hiding them under the bag on the floor.

"Can you sleep with me?" I ask out of no where.

His laughter dies down as he questions my proposal. "Any particular reason why?"

"Not like that!" I throw a pillow, earning another laugh from him. "It might help the nightmares."

As he thinks, I look around the room, trying to still my beating heart. The thought of that dream has never scared me more than anything has in my whole life.

"Sure. Worth a shot. Might keep Lilly asleep." He saunters over to the right side, hopping in.

"Yeah I'm sorry about that." I say, piercing my lips together.

"I know." He chuckles. "But she doesn't sleep well anyways. She has nightmares too. Quite often actually." He tucks himself in, scooting closer to me, as to be sure he won't fall off. But causing me to have butterflies. "Surprised she didn't have one tonight."

"Yeah." Is all I can say. When I realize the light is still on, I explain my actions and turn off the switch. But the darkness causes my vision to darken immensely. "Oh god. I can't see." I attempt to get to the bed and hear him chuckle for what seems like the fortieth time tonight.

"I can't see you either." He says.

I try following his voice and feel the side of the bed and attempt to climb in when I fall face first, not realizing I picked the wrong side.

The sound of Draco huffing sends my body into shock. I'm on top of him. I roll to the other side, flopping down and covering up quickly, turning away from him as if he could see my burning face. "Sorry."

I feel movement and then quiet. "Course you are. When are you not?" He laughs.

By the time I fall back asleep, I don't even remember when I did. When I wake up, however, I feel sweaty but comfortable. Not one nightmare and it felt relaxing.

"Good morning." I hear a husky voice say.

I almost jump, realizing the vibration coming from his chest. I'm cuddled up to him, and quite comfy, might I add. "Uh, sorry." I say, getting up off his torso. "Morning."

"Would you stop being so apologetic?" He props himself up on his elbow, facing me. "I know why you might say it but you need to understand that you never have to apologize in my home."

"I know. It's just a force of habit." I sigh. "But you'll have to understand that I'll probably never stop."

He smiles at me. "I know." He stands up and walks to the door. "Let's go down for breakfast before Lilly wakes up."

I follow close behind, not knowing where to go. Each step down the stairs made a slight creek, making the place seem more authentic.

"What would you like for breakfast?" He asks, opening each door to see the contents inside.

"Um, anything I suppose. Whatever Lilly likes." I suddenly don't feel hungry.

"She eats everything, I promise. Now what are you in the mood for?" He asks again, grabbing flour.

"Um, I don't feel hungry yet. It may be too early." I say, honestly.

He stops pouring the flour into a bowl and turns to look at me. "Granger, you just went to the hospital for being malnourished. You have to eat at least something. I'll make some mini pancakes."

"I guess I'll try but don't make me if I can't. Please."

He nods in approval. "Alright."

"Want me to help mix or s-" but before I can finish he grabs something from a drawer and points it at the bowl of flour.

It's a wand. I realize. "W-What are you doing?" I say, completely terrified.

"What?" He looks back at my scared expression. "If you want homemade they may take a while." He laughs. But when I just stare at him, his expression drops. "What's wrong?"

I shake my head. "Nothing. I think I'm just tired still. Haven't slept much, obviously." I try playing it off. I try telling him I'll be in the living area but he follows me in.

"Why did you look at me like that?" He asks, standing behind me. I dare not to look at him. "It's just a-"

"Just forget it! Please! I just want to forget it!" My heart stops and my blood runs cold. I said it out loud. I swallow hard and still refuse to face him.

But he does it for me and turns me around. "Forget what?" He asks, but before I can speak he guesses. "Magic?"

I give up, and I'm not sure why I do so quickly. "Everything!" I scream slightly, flailing my arms and taking a step forward to confront him. "Magic, you, Harry-" With his name now spoken out loud for the first time in four years, I stop and begin to remember everything.

But this time I remember the laughs we all shared. The crazy adventures we got into, the yule ball. I cringe at the last thought. I look up out of my daze to meet Draco's eyes. "I just want to forget it all. I don't want it to be apart of my life anymore."

"But it's who you are. You're the greatest witch there is!" He exclaims, now, flailing his arms around as well.

"It used to be." I say. "I just want to be normal, Draco." I almost start crying but hear a small voice come from the corridor.

"Am I not normal, daddy?"

I turn to Lilly and my eyes grow wide. I stare over at Draco, wishing I had never said that. He must have noticed because he quickly reassures her that she is, in fact, normal.

I bury my face into my hands, feeling like a fool. What have I done? When Draco returns a while later, he doesn't look angry, just disappointed.

"Well, now my 9 year old daughter thinks she's not normal." He sighs. "Better make breakfast, normally." He emphasizes.

I sit on the couch for a moment before deciding to take a stroll upstairs to her room. After one, too many, doors I manage to find hers. I knock on the side of the wall, and her head turns quickly. Noticing the tears in her eyes, I quickly walk over and sit next to her.

"I'm so sorry, Lilly. I didn't mean it like that." I try explaining. "It's complicated."

"I'm 9 now. I can handle compl-diations."

I giggle. "Of course you can."

"Why aren't we normal, Hermione?" She asks, almost breaking my heart.

"You see, Lilly, we are normal. I just don't want to do magic anymore."

"Why not?"

I sigh. "Well," I begin, trying to explain in the best way possible. "That part of my life is over and now I just want to live life without magic, is what I meant to say."

"So I'm normal?" She smiles.

"No." Her smile loosens. "You're very weird, Lilly." I laugh.

She joins in and soon we're in a laughing fit. "Do you like daddy?"

My laughter stops. "Oh no, honey. We're just friends."

"Mommy and Daddy were friends too." She's says. "Best friends."

"I'm sure they were. Now let's go get some breakfast, shall we?"

She nods frantically. "And don't worry, I won't tell."

I stare over at her, walking down the steps, wondering what she meant. By the time we reach the kitchen, there's batter everywhere including his hair.

We both start laughing at him and he tries defending himself. "Look, you wanted pancakes and I'm making them."

I help clean up, also helping him to make the rest of the pancakes. I didn't count the ones that he burnt. When we're finished eating, she runs to her room to play, leaving us to clean up.

As we scrub the dishes, he tries asking me again what I meant when we were arguing.

I drop the last bowl into the strainer, drying off my hands and handing him the towel. "Look, I opened my mouth and it almost ruined a little girls mentality. I'd rather not have that happen again."

"Fine, you've left me no choice." I cock an eyebrow at his tone of voice. He reaches for a landline and dials a number. "Yeah. It's me. Can I bring her by for a night? Alright, thanks."

More confusion makes its way onto my face as he calls for Lilly. She trudges downstairs and he tells her to pack some clothes and items for nana's house.

"What are we doing?" I ask. But he ignores me and just smiles knowingly and heads upstairs to help Lilly.

I take the time to look around the room a little more. Photos are plastered all over the walls of Lilly and Draco. By the hallway to the downstairs bathroom, is a part of the wall where a photo is turned over.

Curious as I am, I turn it over to reveal a beautiful woman- Astoria GreenGrass- Draco's former wife. She is posed with Draco and Lilly in a garden. They're all laughing as the sunlight hits every part of their bodies. I jump when a hand pops over my shoulder to turn the picture back over.

"She was beautiful. But we don't like to look at the pictures. It makes Lilly upset." Here I go again, upsetting a poor child. What else will I do wrong? "Don't make that face, you didn't know."

"Look, I seem to be messing up all lot and it's only been one day. I should just go home. I'll be fine." I persuade.

"No. Now let's go. We have to beat traffic. Especially since we have to do it the 'normal' way."
