Newt's POV:

Ky cries out when Jeff and Clint pick her up and I feel a pang in my heart watching them carry her away. Worry gnaws at me.

I hate seeing her in pain. I hate living here in this stupid place. I hate having to run every day and still not finding a way out. I'm beginning to doubt we ever will.

I jog back into the maze.

I'm going to end this now.

I make several unusual turns, going deep into the maze where no one will find me. Looking up at the towering, ivy-covered walls, I grab a strong looking vine, heave myself up, and begin to climb. When I get halfway up, the vines end. I'm only half way to the top, yet I am probably 60 feet up in the air.

This'll do, I think. I take a deep breath. Ky will be able to get over me quickly I hope. After all, she has Thomas and Minho and Chuck and Alby and Gally and Frypan. They'll take good care of her.

I lean forward and let go of the vines before I can change my mind. My body tilts and my eyes close. I feel the wind blow in my face and I feel free for a few moments. Suddenly, my foot snags on a vine, yanking me back into reality.

I bang against the wall and my eyes widen as my ankle makes a sickening snap. I scream and reach up to untangle my mangled foot and ankle. Sharp, searing pain explodes at every motion in a throbbing rhythm. My fingers scramble to rip the vine. Finally it releases and I drop the rest of the way to the ground where everything goes black and silent.
