What's the connection?

Annabeth
Annabeth spun around to face the Minotaur. "You," Annabeth started. The Minotaur attacked. It had gotten better at fighting. Annabeth whirled around and tried to jab her dagger into a chink in the armor at the Minotaur's armpit but was blocked. The Minotaur pressed down on her and she was forced to step back. As Annabeth walked backwards, she realized that this was what the Minotaur wanted her to do. She kicked the Minotaur and glanced behind her. The Lethe! That was what the Minotaur wanted her to do; jump into the Lethe. Annabeth realized that if she did this, her memories would be lost. As a plan formed in her head she ran forward in a feint to stab the Minotaur in the chest. As Annabeth had expected, the Minotaur reared up, determined to protect his upper-half. Annabeth slid under the beefy legs of the Minotaur and pushed the Minotaur into the river. "Argh!" The Minotaur growled as he plunged into the waves of the River Lethe. Annabeth scanned her surroundings and spotted an ebony black palace; the palace of Nyx, the primordial of darkness and the night.
Annabeth vaguely remembered Percy and her jumping over the bridge. Suddenly, a rush of memories flooded her mind; when she and Percy had just met; when Percy was stupid and ignorant; when she and Percy were together on the Argo II. Annabeth staggered from the amazing memories that swamped her mind. When she came back to reality, she realized that all those things were connected. If she could realize the connection, she could remind Percy and he might return back to normal. Annabeth wracked her brain for a possible connection between the experiences but came up with nothing. The answer was on the tip of her tongue but had disappeared in a split second. Annabeth sighed and made her way towards Nyx's palace.
Annabeth stopped by the Plegethon and drank some of its fiery water. She ignored the gasoline burning in her throat as straddled into the palace.
You, stupid tourist!" Annabeth heard Nyx shout. Annabeth groaned and ran as fast as she could. Annabeth started,"That was ages ago, Nyx! Me and...and..and..Per-" "Ha! I forgive him. Only him! Three cheers for Void as Order!" Nyx whooped, gaining steadily on Annabeth.
Annabeth jumped over creeks, her hair whipping around wildly as she desperately wracked her brain for a way out of this. Suddenly, a fire lit up her brain as the perfect plan slid into her mind. Annabeth prayed to all the gods she knew, which was a lot, that the plan would work. If not, she would die, but not at the hands of Nyx.
Annabeth reached the cave. Sparkling jewels glowed luminously, surrounding the cave. Soothing music could be heard coming from the entrance of the cave, which was decorated with diamonds, emeralds and rubies. Annabeth swayed on the spot, her brain telling her to enter immediately. She tried to stop the urge and follow her plan. The thing was, she could no longer remember her plan. All Annabeth remembered and knew was she had to get into the cave and fall asleep. She attempted to break through the trance that held her and she decided to follow her gut, no longer trusting her addled brain. Annabeth's gut told her that the ostentatious cave was very famous and like a paradise, but also the most deadly place on earth. Her gut told her that the cave was the Cave of Hypnos, the god of sleep.
