Years have passed already, and Klaus had continued to write letters to his mystery girl. He never found out who his mystery girl was, but he had faith that they would meet again. The connection but two of them had was one that was rare, and he wasn't gonna let something like this go.
Very few people are able to have a connection or feeling like he felt and he wanted to be able to meet her again to know this feeling.
New Orleans was finally at peace, and the Mikaelson family was stronger than ever.
Haley and Elijah had gotten married, and the rest of his siblings had found their happiness with their significant others as well. Klaus had somehow found happiness within his daughter, Hope. He believed that he didn't need a relationship, or a significant other, to give a form of value to his happiness.
"Auntie Rebecca, do you know what's in that box that dad keeps in his room?" Hope had asked one day.
The box that was in Klaus' room had contained all the letters that he had written to his "mystery girl", and no one in his family had known about it. No one in the family was allowed to know about this part of his life, and he was doing a good job at keeping these letters a secret.
Of course, there were instances where his family would see him writing the letters and a spark of curiosity would grow, but their efforts were futile in the end. This was an incredibly well-kept secret that Klaus had, and he would not be willing to share these letters with anyone.
Except if he had ever met his mystery girl again.
Years had passed, and Klaus had still not forgotten about her, and he kept writing letters. Some of them were for major events, such as Hope's birthday, or weddings in his family. Sometimes Klaus wrote letters just to vent about his life, about how he was a monster.
The letters are always specified about the supernatural world, but Klaus believes that his girl would be oblivious to this world. Therefore, he intended to tell her everything when they met once again.
Maybe, he would show her the letters if the relationship ever got serious.
Though, for that to happen they would have to meet once again.
"I wish I could tell you Hope, but your dad has not allowed any of us to see what's in that box," Rebecca replied.
Hope's curiosity had grown, she was already 16 years old and was even more curious about her father's life than ever.
At one point, after asking everyone in the family what was in the trunk and no one knowing what was in it, Hope had decided to take a leap of faith. For some reason, this particular box in her father's room was picking her curiosity more than anything else that he has ever had.
It could be due to the fact that Klaus had always been open about everything with Hope, but this one box was the one thing he didn't tell her about.
He told her stories of his entire lifetime, he had seen empires fall and grow, and he had been present in so many of the different events in history that had occurred. He always had a story for every event that Hope had asked about. Sometimes, just to pass the time he would tell her stories.
At this particular moment though, Hope had finally made it into her father's room without her father finding out. The box was right there, under his bed.
To think, Klaus would usually make more of an effort to hide the box, but he did not want to look for it when he wanted to put a letter inside.
He wanted to be able to even read the letters that he's written in the past, on the nights where he was curious about what his mystery girl was doing. If she was thinking about him the same way that he was thinking about her, though there was no certainty that she was.
"Time to see what's in this box," Hope had said to her self.
She was grateful that her father had not realized that she was in his room, trying to find out what was his most prized possession inside the box. Though, when she opened it, she was surprised.
"Letters and drawings?" Hope had asked herself.
She had expected the box to hold more than just letters in there. There was a whole stack of these papers, and all of them were written to a "mystery girl".
Hope was completely stumped at this time. As her eyes had moved across the pages to see what was written in these letters, she still did not understand the value with these letters.
"What are you doing here Hope?" Klaus spoke from right behind her.
Leaving Hope with wide eyes, and alone to explain her actions.
