Warmth

Winters in Delhi would always bring a different whirlwind of emotions in Aadhya's heart. The way her heart would flutter every time she'd feel the cold yet soothing brush of the winter breeze on her face was habitual.

Aadhya glanced outside her hostel window as she admired the sky with a cup of hot chocolate placed on the windowsill. Her roommate was studious, probably she had gone to take some notes from their seniors. Studying MBBS was a tough job actually! Aadhya had always wondered why out of everyone, she got the honor to study MBBS at AIIMS, the most prestigious institute.

She heaved a sigh as she remembered her family. She missed them. Why? She had not been home for six months. She had been studying all day and finally, she had took out sometime for herself out of the ruckus that was going on around her. With so much to do and so much stress, she suddenly remembered his face and a smile crept on her face.

She had chatted with him yesterday but was that enough? Her eyes shifted sideways where her phone was placed. She picked it up and immediately opened up her gallery filled up with their pictures. Her eyes fell on their pictures clicked together and she scrolled down each picture as fresh teardrops filled her eyes. She missed him. As the teardrops rolled down her cheek, she wiped them away immediately, she didn't want others to know what she felt. The sleeves of her pink sweater got a little wet in this process.

She was looking absolutely beautiful in that pink sweater. Her face was devoid of any makeup. She was an MBBS student, she had less time for herself. She remained busy.

She wanted to see him so badly! It had been six months and they had not met! Yes, Shivin and Aadhya had not met for six months!

The longing to just embrace him and crush herself into him was so evident in her gestures and face. A lone tear escaped her eyes again and she brushed it off immediately.

She scrolled down and read their old chats, reminiscing how they'd just chat for hours when they were in school. With both of them being college students, their chats had reduced. Their journey had been a roller coaster ride. The bond that they shared was just beautiful, full of love.

Suddenly, a message from him flashed in front of her.

Shivin : Tweety, I'm coming to Delhi tomorrow.

Yes, he called her Tweety.

Her eyes lit up as fresh tears filled them again.

And then he sent her the address of a cafe near AIIMS and she immediately knew that they were going to meet tomorrow at 5. Yes, finally tomorrow.

She responded.

Aadhya: Will wait❤

Their conversations had reduced and she knew he was busy. Messaging doesn't connect two people, it's the heart's job. When their hearts were connected through invisible strings of fate, why would they need to prove the purity of their relation through this material texting.

They understood each other well.

Aadhya stood up and twirled around as ecstasy rushed through her veins. She was finally going to meet him!

He'd be coming all the way from Chandigarh just for the sake of meeting her! Her heart fluttered at the thought alone. How would she react? It was the first time that they'd meet each other after such a long separation. Would it be awkward? Would he be able to leave his shy side and hug her with all his might?

She blushed at the thought of being close to him. When they hugged, her head would always be placed at his heart, hearing his erratic heartbeat. He would always tell her how it felt when he had her close to him. He'd handle all her mood swings and most of all, he respected her opinions and her privacy.

Aadhya had often made it clear to him that he was allowed to express his love for her through actions along with words but he'd always end up thinking that she would feel uncomfortable.

How much she wanted to tell him that he behaved like a fool!

She looked at the message again and just smiled to herself. She sat on the bed but she stood up immediately. She looked down at the bed as she sighed. Her books were scattered all over the bed and she eyed them. She immediately picked them up and placed them on the table.

She sat down on the bed and continuously stared at the phone smiling to herself. Her heart was racing at a different pace and she could only blush.

His face would flash in front of her eyes and she would just close her eyes shut. His spectacles, she found them attractive. She admired his facial features and what added more to him was his amazing and endearing heart filled with love for her. She turned around and hid her face in a pillow. She was going to meet him tomorrow!

-----------------------------------

The Sunday evening was chilly. It was only 4 in the evening and as she stepped outside the campus, she could feel cold wind striking through her body. No wonder she had wore a warm sweater and had wrapped a muffler around her neck but the winters in Delhi were cold surely. But amidst all her cold encounters with the chilly weather, she felt warmth creeping throughout her body when she realised she was going  to meet him today after all the wait. He had messaged her yesterday and the thought alone made her cheeks attain a crimson hue.

She clutched the string of her handbag tightly. Using her palms, she wiped the sweat beads formed on her forehead as excitement rushed throughout. She jumped a little smiling to herself, closing her eyes. She soon realised that a few people were eyeing her and their piercing and bewildered gaze made her walk awkwardly away from the campus building.

She was supposed to meet him at 5 in the evening but she decided to go early. She knew he'd be there before time. She blushed at the thought.

Little did Aadhya know that Shivin was more impatient than her.

---------------------------------------------------

Shivin had arrived at 3 and he had been constantly rubbing his palms together. He knew he was the more impatient one. Why? She was his everything. Ever since she had become his; more than his habit, she was his need- the only intoxication he craved. When her alluring face flashed in front of his eyes, his face lit up with an unknown warmth. Did he deserve her? Her beautiful almond shaped eyes, her plump lips, her petite frame, how much he wanted to just hug her after so long! He was wondering if she felt the same.

Would it be awkward at once or would it be smooth like other times? It was true that they had always felt awkward around their friends after confessing that they were in a relationship. People had been teasing them and one of their friends had dreamt of their marriage when they were in school only. No wonder that he himself had dreamt of spending his whole life with her. They were not much bothered about the world around them. They knew that they'd make it out.

Life was so beautiful with her.

He had been pacing back and forth looking frantically at the wrist watch. He rubbed his palms together that it was only 4:15. Winters were chilly this year. He was standing outside the cafe. He had chosen it wisely. Even outside the cafe, he could see numerous couples spending some time with each other. It won't be a problem to spend some time here. His cheeks burned again. The thought of her being close to him alone was so overpowering.

His eyes searched the road, trying to find her. Suddenly, he saw a familiar face with a beaming smile marching towards him. It was her. Her ever so sharp features, the cute smile that adorned her face and on top of all, her approaching footsteps made his heart beat erratically. What was this girl making him feel even after being away from him?

In a few moments, she was standing just in front of him and he was spellbound. She was smiling at him and a few tear drops were filling her eyes. What was happening to him? He couldn't register what all he was doing. Her eyes were speaking millions of things and he tried to decipher the same. His hands reached up to clutch her shoulders tightly and a gasp escaped her lips as her cheeks burned and her heart raced against her chest. She had craved for this touch from six months. And now that she was finally experiencing it, she couldn't fathom how she should behave. Should she cry or should she just laugh like a maniac?

While Shivin experienced an unknown joy. The surroundings seemed to fade away and he just couldn't understand what next he should do.

Suddenly, he felt a hold on his wrist and in a moment, he felt himself being dragged somewhere. Aadhya was dragging him to a place he didn't know. His mind finally registered that she had dragged him to a secluded park which was a few meters away from the café. Since it was cold, no soul was there. They were absolutely alone.

He remembered how in their hometown, they would secretly meet up in parks when they were in school. She would take up her tuitions and then they would just spend some time alone in each other's company. He smiled as he reminisced the old memories.

She dragged him behind a huge tree and what she did next made his heart flutter.

She wrapped her arms around his torso and hugged him with all her might. He in turn caged her with his strong arms. Her small frame fitted in his strong one completely, caging her from the world. He clutched her waist tightly with his one arm while with the other, he brushed her open tresses.

She was crying, her teardrops wetting his jacket and he just smiled. Was it his fault that she was crying? She clutched his jacket tightly with her tiny fists as she cried again and muttered," I missed you."

He pulled her closer yet again. Their each hug had been special. This one was filled with the warmth that both of them craved after a long separation. He brushed her tresses softly and she just nuzzled her face more into his chest; his arms were her safest abode.

She had known it from long.

It was not awkward, was it?

Her eyes finally shot up to look up at him. She had missed his spectacles too.

He gently wiped her tears away with his thumb, making her heart flutter again. Every time he touched her, she would feel butterflies in her stomach which would make her experience an adrenaline rush like no other. He gently cleared her face off all the tears marks. While adjusting her muffler, his eyes fell on the golden chain adorning her neck. He shifted her muffler sideways as he touched the chain.

When his cold hands brushed her warm skin on the neck in an attempt to adjust the chain, she felt breathless. He covered her neck again with the muffler.

Suddenly, a cold breeze brushed past them and Aadhya shivered. Shivin in no time pulled her arm and she crashed into him again, her body colliding with his. Her head was placed on his chest and there was absolutely no space between them. He could feel her warm breath against his jacket and she could feel his strong arms clutching her waist tightly yet tenderly. He never harmed her in any way, be it emotional or physical.

When she finally lifted her face up from his chest, her hands were clutching his back and he was staring at her with so much love. She slowly felt his face inching closer towards her face and her breath hitched. He gently rubbed his thumb against her plump lips and she felt butterflies all over again.

Shivin himself didn't know what gave him the courage to take things this way. Was it the separation which pumped desire?

He didn't know.

Her arms slowly reached for his neck and she encircled them around his neck. He pulled her closer through her waist and she gasped. She soon felt her feet dangling in air. She was so tiny in front of him. He had lifted her up and with each passing second, her hold on his neck tightened.

Their lips were just an inch apart and when he saw her lips part, inviting him to capture them with his, the last twig of his patience broke. He pressed his lips against hers ever so softly and gently. She was in air altogether. The butterflies were doing wonders to her. It was not their first kiss but it was different. It was passionate, it was wild.

Their lips moved in sync, not ready to leave each other any time soon. They could finally feel at peace after being away from so long. Her hands instinctively reached in his hair and his hands pulled her closer as he clutched her waist, making her body collide with his.

They could finally feel the warmth that they craved.

Amidst this cold weather, played two lovers, quenching their thirst with the liquid which was a mixture of passion and love.
