5.
Two weeks later
"Hyung, don't you think you've done enough work for today?" Taehyun stood at the entrance of the study.
Sitting amid a mess of torn pages and books, Beomgyu typed recklessly on his laptop. He'd had multiple cups of coffee for the past few days and if it was just a day or two, Taehyun wouldn't have minded.
But it just seemed to keep going on. Seeing Beomgyu stress so much over his work made him worry. He had almost completely ignored his health throughout the entirety of it. He worked late till night and ended up sleeping in the study, barely eating or blatantly skipping meals.
But that day, Taehyun decided to make sure that the boy would get out of the damned room and sleep in the comfort of their room.
"I'll be there, Hyun," he answered absent-mindedly. "You go ahead and sleep."
He was tired of hearing this. All he wanted was for the boy to rest for a longer time. "Beomgyu-hyung, you can continue tomorrow," he tried insisting.
"I don't think I'll be able to finish it if I do," he said exasperatedly. "Just a little longer."
"No-uh. I'm not moving until you come with me to bed. You've been overexerting yourself, hyung. You would work better if you slept a little better,"
Sighing, Beomgyu finally stopped typing and looked up at him. His eyes had bags underneath them. His skin seemed to have become paler. Sadness washed over Taehyun at the pathetic sight.
"I'm not gonna excuse you tonight, no."
"But-"
Before he could speak another word, Taehyun barged in and snapped the laptop shut. "Taehyun, what the-"
"I said, no excuses." The younger male didn't waste any time and bent down to lift the dark-haired male bridal style who began screaming and carried him to their room.
"Also, I think you are ignoring me a little too much too," he said the moment he was placed in the safety of their bed. "I miss you, hyung."
Beomgyu's heart softened up at the mention, guilt overtaking him. "I.. am so sorry. I didn't mean to-" A hand to his lips cut him off.
"Shh, it's okay. I'm not hurt or anything. But have you looked at yourself?" he said cupping a side of his face ever so gently. "You haven't been eating properly for the past few days."
"I promise, Hyun. I will- just let me finish this."
"On one condition,"
"That is?"
"You promise to sleep now. Don't work. Just forget about it for a while."
Beomgyu let out a breath he didn't know he was holding. "Alright."
Satisfied, Taehyun rushed to his own side of the bed.
"Is this solely for me or is there a selfish purpose behind this?" Once Beomgyu finished washing up and dressed for bed, he asked Taehyun.
Taehyun let out a small chuckle in response. "Perhaps, it was both."
Sliding into the covers, Beomgyu laid down facing Taehyun. "I love you." he smiled a smile that was reserved just for Taehyun. Even though tired, he could see the genuineness behind it. His fingers brushed against his cheek like feathers, tucking his hair behind his ears. Taehyun closed his eyes, taking in the moment. "I love you too, hyung. So much."
He opened his eyes to find gentle eyes staring right back at him. Unable to resist the urge, he moved forward to give him a small peck on his lips.
He didn't move back. Their faces just millimeters apart, he could feel the ragged breath of Beomgyu fanning his cheek. His gaze moved down from his eyes to his lips, he could clearly hear the sound of Beomgyu's heart beating faster by the second.
Taehyun's own heart wasn't any better, though. He could feel it doing backflips in his chest as he looked at the other. This time, it was Beomgyu who closed the gap between them kissing him feverishly. Taehyun kissed him back, his hand cupping his cheek that wasn't touching the bed.
Feeling uncomfortable in that position, Taehyun pulled away trying to get up. However, at that moment, Beomgyu chased his lips, eyes in a trance. He was just so... so pretty.
His heart fluttered when he realized how Beomgyu felt the need to be close to him just as much as he did. The ardent desire to leave fleeting touches on his skin, setting his heart aflutter.
The dim lights from the night lamp made Beomgyu look luminescent, glowing. His features looked even softer, like a butterfly. A single finger trailed down from the side of his face to his cheek; Taehyun wanted to memorize all of him.
He wanted to learn all the things that made his smile grow, his little giggles erupt and his heart flutter.
Eyes that could put him into a trance.
Getting on top of Beomgyu, he once again returned to kissing him, balancing himself on his arms; pouring out every ounce of emotion so Beomgyu could feel it.
A few minutes later, he pulled away, letting Beomgyu take over. After all, it was him who needed to relax. He knew Beomgyu liked it when he took the lead but this time, he wanted him to take it at his own pace.
As if he read his mind, Beomgyu came back again. His back pressed against the headboard, he pulled Taehyun closer so he was straddling him. "Gosh, how can you be so beautiful, Hyun-ah?" he breathes as he places featherlight kisses to his jaw. His hand roamed on his back and one tangled in between his locks.
Taehyun's breath hitched as he left an open-mouthed kiss at a sensitive spot right below his ears. He knew him all too well. His grip on Beomgyu's waist grew tighter as he sucked a little harder before littering the area with several small kisses.
"I could say the same to you," he responded. The older male's breath was heavy and his heart loud- his lips were spit slicked and red from all the kissing.
Taehyun peppered his face with kisses and one final, chaste kiss to his lips before resting his head against his neck, taking in his lavender scent.
"I feel better already," Beomgyu said, his voice a little raspy from earlier.
Giggling against his neck, Taehyun lightly smacked his arm. "You need real sleep if you wanna finish that work, my kisses aren't enough of a remedy."
"To me, I think it's better than years' worth of sleep in the world."
Heat crept up his neck, he retorted rather flustered. "S-shut up and sleep, hyung."
--
"Stop running away!" Taehyun chased after the scurrying boy jumping off their couch and behind their tables. Giggles of the two boys erupted throughout the whole house.
His face was flushed from laughing and running at the same time. He turned around to see where Taehyun was before hiding the grip-strengthener under his shirt. "You're buff enough as it is, you don't need it."
"Choi Beomgyu, give it back," he said, trying to seem intimidating but all that was thrown out the window when he looked at the boy with the purest smile adorning his face.
"Try and get me," he said cheekily before running into their bedroom. Taehyun followed him right away into the room trying to catch him. They circled the room as Beomgyu tried to escape the hold of the younger.
Soon enough, he jumped right on top of Beomgyu as he ran out of their room again into the balcony.
Taking his chance, his hands moved down to his sides and tickled him causing him to burst into a fit of laughter and falling to the floor. His eyes crinkled as he tried to control himself from accidentally hitting him from being ticklish all over.
There was something about the elder male whenever he smiled. It would always contain reassurance- that he would trust him and stay by his side forever; that he would love him forever. Even though Beomgyu told him that quite often, it felt nice to see it in his actions all the time.
"Gotcha!" he cheered in triumph at finally getting his hands on the equipment as the other boy was still trying to catch his breath from all the tickling and laughing.
"Don't you think this was enough exercise already?" Beomgyu said, staring right up at the open night sky, lying back down on the cold floor.
Taehyun joined right beside him, put a leg over his, and rested his head on the older's chest. "I need to stay strong for a long time. Who's gonna lift our kids in the air and play with them?
Not moments after the mention, he could hear Beomgyu's heartbeat spike up; without looking up at him he knew that the man would already be a blushing mess, "R-right..." he breathed.
"I think our kids would be more scared to see their dad's abnormally huge muscles." His chest vibrated as he tried to hold in his laugh but failed miserably. "You should stop working out like a madman."
"I'd like to call it pent-up stress. At the boot camp we always had tough courses to stay fit and ready at any moment; what I do here is almost nothing." He commented and Beomgyu nodded in understanding. "Besides, I will forever be a softie when it comes to you or for our future kids. Definitely for the kids."
Like the joy of a single flower blooming in a field, Beomgyu's heart felt like a valley of flowers dreaming about how their lives would be with kids in it. Their kids.
"I'm sure you're gonna be a great dad."
Entangling their fingers, their wedding bands shone under the moonlight. "I have so many dreams I wanna fulfill, Tyun-ah," he maneuvered his hands under the said boy and pulled him closer to his chest as his eyes traced the night sky for any constellations that he could spot with the city lights blocking away starlight. But the best one of them all sat right in his arms.
Taehyun hummed in his embrace, "I want to be with you in each dream and watch you as your face turns into that delightful happiness. You look so pretty every time."
Their heartbeats rang in their ears as they kept going on about the various things they would like to try out in the future right there on the cold floor- their embrace enough for them to stay warm.
"You would be home by then, won't you?"
"I could retire and the pension money would still be there. We can spend all the time we want with the kids." He said in a low yet gentle voice against the nook of his neck sending butterflies down Beomgyu's stomach.
Sighing into the closeness they shared, Beomgyu looked at Taehyun, so pretty and with a beauty that could compete with the moons and stars combined. His very own galaxy right before his eyes.
And then a visual of them growing older in his imagination caused him to break out in a fit of laughter. "Just thought about how your face will be all wrinkly when we get older and you'd still be holding that gripper in your hand."
The younger male joined him in his laughter, "You talk as if you're gonna stay like this forever." He gestured to his face.
"And that's where you're wrong, mister. Even with all the wrinkles, my handsomeness will be unmatched."
Feigning surprise, Taehyun put a hand over his mouth, "Oh, my mistake, your highness, your beauty is everlasting."
Satisfied with the compliment, Beomgyu leaned forward to give him a small peck on the lips, pulling away even before Taehyun could return it, a lingering feeling on his lips leaving him wanting more.
Taehyun just excused himself for a minute to bring a pile of pillows and blankets to cover themselves up from the chilly wind.
The couple stayed like that basking in the warm presence of the other while looking at the stars - a favorite activity they used to do a lot back when they were in university right before exams week.
Beomgyu always used to love the getaway from reality and find a place of solitude. Then Taehyun came along and he realized he ended up spending more time daydreaming about the younger male than he came to clear his thoughts.
Things happened. He brought Taehyun to his secret spot and now, he felt the most at peace when he was beside him. He could never imagine himself without him in his thoughts.
Every picture he painted in his heart, there was Taehyun beside him. The boy had planted himself root-deep into the elder's life that it almost seemed impossible to be without him. All the times they've had to spend apart, the fact that the other is still thinking of them served as strength to go on and cheer up.
They found comfort in knowing that the other was alright and safe. With these lingering thoughts, they fell asleep right in each other's arms.
this marks the end of all the fluff ,, prepare yourself for the angst that's about to come *evil laugh*
