The Bridge
Freddy's POV
When Freddy looked up at the massive wall of water, his stomach completely dropped. The entire wave slowly crested until the top was high above the battle. No! he thought. It can't end this way!
But it was hopeless. Jonathan had already won. Even before the wave was sent over the children, Jonathan had won. Freddy bitterly remembered ramming the sharp steel pole through the man's back. Even after that, Jonathan was still as powerful as he was. And now, they would be submerged under hundreds of feet of water.
Freddy knew that he could get out of the situation fairly easily. He could just fly away and soar above the wave with simple ease. But his friends couldn't do that. Freddy would rather die with his friends than survive without them.
"Foxy!" Bonnie screamed. "Help . . . me!"
Freddy spun around, seeing Bonnie with her arms thrown out. And she was . . . shooting at the wave? It was all in a continuous stream, fanning out once it reached the wave. Each strand of energy zipped across the surface of the wave. Freddy's eyes widened as he realized . . .
The wave had stopped.
Freddy looked down at Foxy as he struggled to stand up. Luckily, Jonathan wasn't anywhere near Foxy, but instead attacking Bonnie. Foxy collapsed onto his knees, his face sullen and pained.
"Foxy . . ." Freddy breathed. The redhead suddenly looked up at the wave with determination set in his eyes. With a loud scream, he shot his arm out and a bright blast of light shocked through the wave. Freddy's eyes sealed shut and fell out of the air. Even through closed eyelids, the light of Foxy's blast was blinding. He spun in slow circles, everything a hot and hazy red.
His feet twisted under him as the sand came up to meet him. Freddy collapsed onto the sand, altogether silent.
Just a few moments later, Freddy felt a hand on his shoulder. His eyes fluttered open due to the sudden feeling. He saw the face of Chica looking down at him. She smiled softly.
"Get up," she cooed. "The fight's almost over."
Freddy smiled back a little. She looked so beautiful even with her face all dusted up. Did she grow her hair out? It looked great. She looked great. He drew his eyebrows in a little. "I'm not finishing it until I do something . . ."
Suddenly, he slid his hand behind her neck and pulled her down close to him. Their lips met, and they met passionately. Freddy's heart rushed in his chest, but it all faded away when Chica wrapped her arms around his neck and smiled into the kiss. Freddy knew that there was a massive wave of water ready to smash down on everyone and everything, but he wasn't ready to break the kiss.
"It's time to go . . ." Chica whispered. Freddy laughed and pulled away from her, still keeping his nose on hers.
"I know that Foxy and Bonnie have probably made out a couple of times by now, as I can see the tension between them. But I seriously love you, Chica. Let's win this war."
Chica giggled slightly. Freddy liked her laugh. It was sweet and innocent. Nothing like the things she was caught up in. Freddy smiled and--
A shoe suddenly appeared to Freddy's left. Chica screeched as it caught her in the side and sent her off of her hands and knees, crumpled in the sand next to Freddy. Fire rushed through Freddy's veins as he looked up and saw the face of Jonathan, who Freddy wanted to mutilate at the moment.
"Oh, I'm sorry," Jonathan said, a sarcastic ring in his voice. "I enforce the rules on this beach. No making out, as making out leads to love. And love leads to babies. And babies lead to a larger population of Guard--"
Freddy screamed as loud as he could, reaching out to Jonathan's leg and pulling. His hand only found empty space, as Jonathan had moved his foot back. Pain exploded in Freddy's temple immediately after. A hand grasped the back of his shirt and lifted the half-conscious boy into the air, as if on display.
"Now would you take a look at that nice view?" Jonathan simmered. "Just look at the calm ocean waves, the children playing on the nice beach sand, and a young blonde tanning in the sunlight. Isn't it just to die for?" Soft laughing permeated the air behind Freddy, and the boy was soon being lifted higher and higher above the sand. "Let's go take a look at some landmarks? How about the Golden Gate Bridge? I know you're dying to see it."
"No! Stop!" Chica screamed.
"No stop?" Jonathan taunted. "Alright, I guess I could just speed up his flight."
Freddy felt the wind flash by quicker, the ground shrinking below him. A warm liquid began to flow down the side of his head where Jonathan had kicked. Hazy screaming below. But it was only then that the confusion began to set in. Where am I? I'm at the beach obviously. I like the beach. I don't think I should like it now.
"Jonny . . ." Freddy slurred. "Where are you taking me?"
A small laugh filled Freddy's ears. Then, hot breath caressed his face. "For a swim."
I like swimming. Swimming is fun . . . Wait . . . swimming?
Then, Freddy remembered. Reality slammed into him like a big yellow bus. Adrenaline pumped into his limbs as he began to frantically squirm and writhe in Jonathan's iron grip.
"Quit it, kid," Jonathan barked. "We're almost to the ocean." He took in a long, drawn out breath through the nose. "Smells absolutely wonderful, doesn't it? Refreshing, actually. Look down. There it is, all waiting for you to explore."
Pain stabbed through every nerve in Freddy's body as the hand on his collar abruptly released. The boy hung suspended in midair. He tried to scream, but his lungs were paralyzed. He looked down into the water below, sloshing wildly as though caught in a storm.
Freddy gulped as the pain ceased and his body was released from the air, being sent falling down into the water below. He kept his body as stiff as he could as his toes plunged through the surface of the water. Bubbles swirled around him, swimming through his fingers and dancing around his head.
The faded sounds of another splash echoed through the water. Freddy kept his eyes squeezed shut. He desperately swam away, up, clawing at the water with vigorous strokes. No. Jonathan.
A scream bubbled out of Freddy's throat as a hand grasped onto his ankle. Freddy kicked, but the grip kept getting tighter. The hand began to pull. Freddy couldn't swim against it.
No! I can't drown! Let me go!
Freddy's lungs fought wars every second, his mind screaming at him for air. He managed to open his eyes and look down. He could see a blurry purple shape grinning as it led Freddy down . . .
Down . . .
Down . . .
* * * * *
Unconsciousness had taken over, but once it began to release, Freddy could feel harsh pounding on his chest. His hearing slowly came back to him as he opened his eyes.
". . . FREDDY!" someone screamed.
Another pound.
Freddy screamed.
His throat burned. Freddy coughed hysterically, suddenly feeling an embrace.
"Freddy!" the person screamed. Freddy realized that it was Chica. He sighed slightly. "The wave is gonna crash!"
Crap.
"No . . . no, please, no. Chica!" Freddy screamed. "Jonathan can't win! We have to stop him, there has to be a way! Please, Chica! Help me up, help me--"
"Freddy . . ." Chica soothed. "Don't worry about it."
"Where's Foxy and Bonnie?" Freddy asked, slightly pushing Chica aside so he could see.
Chica remained silent.
"Chica?" Freddy said again. "Where are they?"
"With Fred . . ." she mumbled.
"Fred . . ." Freddy said softly. "Was Fred . . . no!" Freddy rolled over frantically, scrambling to his feet and looking around. His wild gaze locked onto a small cluster of people in the distance. Two of them were lying on the ground, small pools of blood creeping over the sand. The other sat upright--the one with purple hair. Freddy screamed and sprinted over to them, slipping with each step in the sand.
"Foxy!" Freddy screamed as he realized that one of the figures on the ground was indeed Foxy. The other was Fred, whose once bright and wise face had gone grey and near expressionless. Bonnie was sobbing.
Freddy stormed up to the scene and collapsed onto his knees. First Ben. Now this? Freddy watched Fred's eyes drift over to meet Freddy's. They held their gaze for a moment.
"Freddy . . ." Fred choked weakly. ". . . lead them well. When the time comes, you . . . you will know what to do . . ."
"Don't die, Fred! Don't put me through this! Stay alive, you bastard! STAY ALIVE!" Freddy melted down onto his knees, tears pouring down his face.
Suddenly, Fred started to glow. Small orbs of light began to swirl around him as he was lifted into the air by an invisible force. Freddy watched with confusion. Fred was now a large oval of light, floating upright in midair.
Something tapped Freddy's knee. He looked down at Foxy, who was looking up at something with strange peace. Freddy found a long dagger lodged in Foxy's side, blood pouring from the wound and spreading across the sand. Freddy, sickened by the sight, turned around and watched as the leviathan of water zoomed down at the group with unprecedented speed.
Just as the water was about to hit, Freddy felt himself being sucked into a portal, everything going colorless and silent.
(A/N WOW, I HAVE NOT UPDATED THIS BOOK IN FOREVER! I've got to update this more. I've had a huge writers block and it's been hard for me to write this. I'm a little exhausted with this plot line, so I'll most likely be moving onto something else after I finish this. But I WILL finish this book for you guys, if you're still reading it. I don't want to just end it here because I've built up a lot of suspense, so you should just know how it ends the proper way, right?
Anyways, I'll update a lot more. Be prepared for a lot more feels in the future!
P.S. Yes, Fred died.)
