Chapter Eight - Star Gazing at Day

"Nothing." I said. She looked at me and stared at me blankly. "What?" I asked.

She rolled her eyes. Other people look awful when they roll their eyes, but not her. She actually looked beautiful rolling her eyes. Maybe it's magic, or love, or just her. "Why did you ask me if I have something to do tonight, Ed?" She asked in a teasing tone.

I laughed. "Nothing." I lied. "Can't I ask? Is there a rule for not asking you if you have something to do tonight? I don't think so, Sid. I asked you for no reason."

"Someone's being defensive." She hummed.

"I am not being defensive." I told her in a defensive tone, which maybe wasn't a good idea. "I'm just saying that just because I asked you doesn't mean there's a reason behind it." I said calming my voice down to not sound defensive anymore.

"Whatever." She snorted. She then bit her lip and looked at me like she's deciding something. "If you were going to ask me out to a date or something, I can just bring my report and you can help me with it." She suggested.

I couldn't help but smile. "Are you sure?" I asked, and inside, I wanted her to scream yes.

She also smiled. "Yes. I also want to spend time with you."

...

My left hand was on the steering wheel while my right hand was holding hers. Her hand was soft and cold, and it was one of the reasons why I love holding them. It was like I was holding a cloud in the sky.

She was looking at the window, gazing at the stars, clueless that I was glancing at her every fifteen seconds while driving. If she found out that my focus wasn't on the road, she would've scolded me for it saying that we might get into an accident.

Her window was open so the air made her hair fly around. It was in a braid so a few minutes after I started driving, it became a messy braid. But still, she looked beautiful.  She looked like one of those models of shampoos and hair conditioners where even though they dance around or go crazy, their hair still looked like they just came out of a salon.

It was almost 8 o'clock when we left Baron, so I brought with us some dinner. Two burgers, a pizza, and a liter of Coke. It was a midnight picnic, and it was just how I planned it all to be (Dammit. I am making her fat).

She must've noticed that I was looking at her because she turned to look at me with wide eyes. "Dude. Get your eyes on the road!" She yelled.

I laughed and followed what she said. "Sorry." I said while laughing. She was so cute when she scolded me. Her eyes so big like she just saw a monster. Sidney and her safety precautions.

"Why the hell are you laughing?" She asked, confused.

I bit my lip and chuckled. "You look cute when you scold me." I admitted.

Her eyes softened and she smiled. She immediately looked away, but it was too late because I already saw her blush. Her cheeks were rosy pink and she was biting her lips. The rest of the ride, she was looking at the window, probably afraid that I'll tease her of blushing.

When we arrived at our destination, and we both got a full view of the place, Sidney was shocked. Oh yeah, I didn't tell her that we were stargazing and having a picnic on a forest park in town. She thought it was just an ordinary dinner.

She looked at me with wide eyes. "Why are we here, Ed?" She asked, and I could hear eagerness in her voice. Like she's just waiting for me to say stargazing before she goes jumping around.

I smiled at her. "Stargazing." I said. "I remembered that you liked watching the stars at night, so I thought maybe I could surprise you with this." I said, gesturing the forest park. "Wait, you do love stargazing at night, right?" I asked, just to be sure.

She rolled her eyes. "Of course! Who would even star gaze at day? There are no stars during the morning. Duh."

I smirked. "The sun is a star, Sid." I pointed out. Then I realized that I just gave her something to tease me about.

"Geek." She snorted.

I got out of the car and took out the blanket and basket that I brought with us, and placed everything nice and neatly on the ground. It was a school day, so it wasn't a surprise that we were the only persons there.

"I can't believe you did this." Sidney said as she sat beside me on the ground.

I hung my arms around her and let her rest her head on my shoulder. "I'd do anything for you." I said, and my heart was beating so loud that I knew Sidney felt it too. "Do you want to eat first or stargazing?" I asked her.

She made a thinking face, putting her finger on her lip. "I don't know. I love both equally." She chuckled. "But maybe, we should eat first. I don't want our stargazing to be interrupted because of my stomach growling."

"When did it ever stop growling though?" I joked and she punched my arm playfully and made a sad face. "I'm kidding. You may not be as fit as Kendall Jenner, but you're still the sexiest and most beautiful girl in the world for me." I told her and stroke her face gently with the back of my fingers.

My fingers stopped at her jaw, and they just stayed there as I kept on looking at her. At her brown eyes that was deeper than the ocean when you look at it, at her cute nose that I fight the urge to touch with mine every single day, and at her teeth that were brighter that stars that were above us that moment.

Ever since that day we first met at the park, when we were still little, I already knew that she would be a beautiful girl when she grows up. And I was right. She was far more beautiful than what I once expected her to be.

Right in front of me was the girl that I met at the park, the girl that became my best friend, the girl that was there with me when I had problems, the girl that I almost lost, and the girl that is finally mine.

"You're just saying that because I'm your girlfriend." She suddenly said.

I laughed at her. "You just ruined the moment, Sid. Let's just eat." I took my hand away from her face and opened the box of pizza and gave her her burger.

After we ate, we cleaned up the trash of our food and laid down there on the blanket. At first, we were a foot away from each other. I guess that we were both shy. But then I moved closer to her, close that our shoulder's touched.

She was looking at the stars like they were the most beautiful things she had ever seen, but I was looking at her, because she was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen.

I placed my arms around her neck and held her shoulders, while she laid on my chest. "Thank you, Ed. I loved this."

"Yeah. I love this too." I loved it not because of the star gazing, but because we were there on the ground, and I was holding her delicately that I was afraid I'd lose her in a blink of an eye.

...

It was Thursday afternoon, the day of the try outs. I was in my dorm room, and Harry was in front of me in his sports attire, still convincing me to try out with him. Every class had an early dismissal for a reason I had no idea about so I headed to my room.

"I'm really sorry. But no." I told Harry.

"Why?!" He asked.

I sighed. "I'm sorry. I just don't want to be in the team." I told him honestly. "You can still join without me, you know." I informed him.

He scratched the back of his head. "Well, yeah, but," he stopped. He didn't say anything for about ten seconds, and I knew that moment that he would finally give uo convincing me. "Okay fine. Wish me luck!" He told me and went out of the room.

I was left alone again.

My throat was a bit dry and I was very thirsty. My water bottles were all empty, because stupid little eddy forgot to buy groceries.

Wait, did I just call myself Eddy? I'm glad Sidney can't read this.

I took out my phone and dialed Sidney's number. She picked up after the fourth ring. "Hello?" She said.

"It's me." I said.

She snorted. "I'm not gonna sing the song, if that's what you're thinking." She laughed and I was just glad that I heard her laugh that day. "So, what's up?"

"Well," I started. "Up is a Disney Pixar movie released in 2009, and it is..."

"You know that's not what I was talking about." She said but I could tell over the phone that she was chuckling.

I smiled, even though she couldn't see me. "I was teasing." I told her. "Are you alone in your room? Can we watch a movie? I have nothing to do here."

"Sure. I'll get the laptop ready." She said and dropped the phone call.
