Epilogue - First Let Me Take A Cell-fie

"Dylan, calm down." Sidney's mother said to me. "You'll get your cake ruined if you keep jumping."

I shrugged. "She'll eat it anyway. She loves sweets so much that she wouldn't care about how it looks." I said.

She nodded. "Well, you're right." We both chuckled. I could imagine Sidney's face covered with chocolate icing. But even though, she'd still look beautiful.

I tapped my feet. In five minutes, Sidney will finally arrive from Mexico, and I would get to see her again. Even though it has been only a week, I already missed her so much. I just couldn't wait any longer.

"Are you finally going to tell her this time?" She asked. "About how you really feel?"

I nodded. "Yes. I'm telling her." I said. "I couldn't stand keeping it from her anymore."

"Well. It's about time." She chuckled.

I opened the box of the cake once again. She'll love the cake. It's her favorite. A chocolate cake.

I faced Sidney's mom again. "What do you think will be her reaction?" I asked.

She laughed at me. "You're really nervous, aren't you?" She asked and I nodded. "I honestly have no idea what her reaction will be." She said and I laughed back in response.

Then, the announcer spoke Sidney's flight number. Her plane had arrived.

"Let's go welcome her." She suggested and pulled my arm.

We stood there behind a barrier together with all the other families waiting for their loved ones, and waited for Sidney to finally arrive.

My heartbeat grew faster. I couldn't understand why I was so nervous. My head kept on swinging from left to right just to find her.

Then finally, I saw her.

Her mom walked towards her and hugged her, while I just stood there, so happy to finally see her.

My whole world stopped. I was so happy to finally see her again. It felt like years, when it truth it was only a week. Why does love do that to us?

Sometimes, love makes time confusing.

They broke their hug and talked, probably asking how they were, so I didn't interrupt them. Then, her mom pointed me. I straightened my shirt and hair, even though I knew that Sidney already saw me in my worst looks.

I gathered my confidence and walked towards them, with a genuine smile plastered on my face.

I walked and walked, each step making my heart beat faster, until I was finally in front of her. I couldn't breathe for a second.

"Hey, Ed." She greeted first.

"Hey." I only said. Probably a very stupid response.

She noticed the box on my hands. "What's that?" She asked. "If it's a bomb, I'll send you straight to prison right now." She joked.

I laughed at her. I was glad that she's joking again. I missed her jokes.

I was about to say something back to her, but then a guard came to us, so I kept my mouth shut.

Sometimes, guards are just creepy as hell.

"Did one of you just say something about a bomb?" He asked with a dead tone.

I looked at Sidney with alarm. The guard thought that we were actually talking about a real bomb. Bombs and Guards, definitely not good.

"No sir." Sidney said. "I was only joking." She explained.

He raised his eyebrow. "Are you sure? Because bombs are very serious, young lady. You could get in trouble for a prank." He said. Yeah, like we didn't know that.

"It wasn't a prank, sir." I said. "She was only joking. There is no bomb." I assured him.

"It better be a joke." He crossed his arms. "I'll be watching you two." He glared at us for a second, then finally left.

I exhaled in relief. "Well that was.."

"Funny?" Sidney guessed, biting her lip.

I nodded. "Yeah." I agreed, even thought I was supposed to say scary. "But you almost got us in trouble there." I pointed out.

She shrugged. "Well, I would've loved to see you in a cell."

I raised my eyebrow. "You do know that seeing me in a cell also means that you are there with me, right?"

"Then we'll take a cell-fie to let everyone know." She joked.

I tried not to, but I laughed. She's back. Not back as in from Mexico, but back as in the Sidney that was my best friend.

The funny, sarcastic, and happy Sidney.

"So what is in that box?" She asked again. I could tell that she was hoping it was a cake. Her eyes were hungry, well, in a good way.

"Your favorite." I told her. "It's a chocolate cake. Surprise!" I handed her the box.

Her eyes went wide. "For real?" She asked and I nodded. "I've been craving this for days!" She exclaimed.

I held her wrist. "Don't eat it yet. You don't want that guard seeing you eat a bomb made of chocolate." I pointed at the guard who was suddenly guarding the entrance.

She laughed. "You're learning." She said. "Well, you only learned from the best." She flung her hair back to show off.

I laughed back. For a minute, that was all we did. Then I realize that I was still holding her wrist. My face flushed.

I immediately let go, embarassed.

Here's the weird thing. I used to be sweet to her, hugging her whenever I wanted to, but that was back when I only saw her as a best friend. Now that I know I love her, I'm afraid of my actions. Afraid that I might offend her, even though I knew that Sidney wouldn't think such thing.

"Is something wrong?" She asked with a worried tone, reffering to my nervousness.

I shook my head. "Nothing. Let's go?" I suggested, also looking at her mom who was beside us and was suspiciously quiet the entire we had been talking.

She nodded, and together we all drove back to their house.

...

"I can carry this." Sidney's mom assured. "You go and tell her what you need to tell her." She winked.

I smiled at her and nodded. "Okay." I said. "Thank you."

She only smiled, then went upstaurs to Sidney's room carrying one of her bags.

I went to the Kitchen where Sidney was digging in to my cake.

She saw me with eyes wide open. "These are so good." She heavenly said. "Don't expect me to offer you some."

I chuckled at her. "It's okay. It's for you." I said. I played with my fingers to avoid eye contact with her. "Listen, Sid, I have something to tell you."

She looked at me, with chocolate all over her mouth. I would have chuckled, but my nervousness beat me to it. "What?" She asked.

I scratched the back of my head. "At prom, I was supposed to tell you something, but didn't get to."

She nodded in understanding. "Oh. You don't have to tell me, Ed. I already know." She said.

"What?" I asked with confusion all over me.

She shrugged. "That Aubrey wasn't your real girlfriend, and Hayley is. Right?"

I shook my head to make sure I was hearing her right. "You say what now?"

She sighed. "She told me that Aubrey and Kevin blackmailed you for my songwriting blah blah blah. Then that she's my sister and you confessed that it was really her that you liked and not Aubrey." She said.

I let my brain process what she said. "That liar." I spat

"What?"

"It was true that Aubrey and Kevin blackmailed me, but they were also just blackmailed. By Hayley." I explained.

She looked confused. "Hayley?" She asked. "How?"

I sighed. I told her everything. Well, except for the part where 'I love her".

I expected her to be angry or shocked, but no. She just looked at me like it was a joke she heard a million times already.

"That's your reaction?" I asked in surprise.

She shrugged. "I knew she was lying. I just didn't know why." She said.

I scoffed. "Huh. You're actually handling this better than I expected."

She eyed me. "But you don't like her?"

"Hell no!" I defended. Just the thought of me liking a person like her sent chills down my spine. (Well, I did like Aubrey, so I better shut up.)

She crossed her arms. "If you don't love Aubrey or Hayley, then who?" She asked.

"You." I blurted out.

When I realized what I said, I froze like ice.

It was not how I planned to tell her. Great. My plan is ruined.

"Me?" She asked, raising her eyebrow. "Are you playing with me or something? Because if you are, tell me right now so I can punch you in the stomach."

I sighed. I guess it's the sign that I finally have to tell her.

"I'm not playing with you." I confessed. I took a deep breath. "Sidney, I love you. And it's not just as a best friend."

She didn't move, so it made me nervous. I was afraid that she'll say that she fell in love with Kevin and lost her feelings for me. I was afraid that she'll walk away and shut me out. I was afraid that....

"I love you too." She said.

I stopped talking. I just stared at her with a shocked face.

"Can you say it again, please?" I said.

She smiled and chuckled. "I love you too, Ed. I love you. I love you. I love you." She repeated.

I smiled as wide as the universe. "Thank goodness." I sighed in relief. "For a second I was afraid that you lost your feelings for me."

She looked surprised. "Lost?" She asked. "What do you mean?"

I scratched the back of my head. "Oh yeah. I forgot to tell you." And so, I told her about how I heard her confess her feelings to me twice. Her face was so shocked that I had to fight myself from cupping her cheeks and hug her.

She groaned. "I can't believe you actually heard those!" She complained, which was very entertaining for me. Her cheeks were so red. "It was so embarrassing!"

I laughed at her, so hard that I had to cover my stomach.

She punched my arm. "Don't laugh at me!" She complained.

I raised my arms in defeat. "Okay, okay!" I surrendered. I stood straight and faced her. Her face just makes my day go brighter.

"I missed you." I honestly said.

She smiled. But there was something in her smile. It was sneaky. "Yeah. I missed you too.... Eddy." She teased.

Curse that name!

I shook my head in disgust. "Don't call me that!" I groaned. I just hated the name. I had no idea why but every time I hear her call me in that name, it makes me cringe.

But to think of it, she just got us even.

"Why don't you make me?" She challenged.

I smirked. I know just the thing to make her shut up. "Okay." I said.

I leaned forward and kissed her.

She was once just my best friend, but I fell in love with her.

I have a new story coming up! It's entitled "Maybe Nothing Lasts Forever." This time, it's about two girls who are exact opposites but are best friends. Then, a guy came to their life.

It is inspired from the Disney Sitcom Girl Meets World. So if you watch it, you might have an idea about the book.

But I won't copy the plot, don't worry. 😉

I'll post an update on this book once it's finished.

So again, thank you for reading.😁

Z.
